  1. I always thought the same thing, Both of these models are supposedly 1/16 scale, but that doesn't guarantee that they actually are 1/16 scale. One of them (or both) could be off. Or they could both be correct and you and I are just wrong!
  2. It's just plain old fiberglass window screen material left over from when I had to replace a torn screen on the house.
  3. Final vote: 23 REAL, 6 MODEL. You guys got it... it's REAL!
  4. Martina McBride and Little Big Town doing a fantastic version of the Everly Brothers' 1960 classic...
  5. And not Buddy Holly, but the Hollies...
  6. The all-time Queen of the Cover... Linda Ronstadt. She covered everybody! Like Buddy Holly...
  7. Looks like the bed isn't sitting right, but otherwise I love the "old school" vibe, Pretty cool!
  8. A few engine shots...
  9. This is the Minicraft 1939 Jaguar SS100 in 1/16 scale. The car was built by SS Cars. Ltd., which changed its name to Jaguar Cars Ltd. in 1945. The SS100 was the first car to be badged a "Jaguar" (on the grille shell). For all you Jaguar purists, sorry about the color! I'm just tired of the "traditional" BRG, or red, or any of the "expected" colors... so I went way off the grid and went with a rich chocolatey brown. Yep, a brown Jaguar! . If you're interested, there's a WIP of this model here. I added some details to the kit, including a scratchbuilt convertible top boot, a storage trunk behind the seats, and a folding windshield with small secondary wind screens. The model was missing the clear parts tree, so the windshield and the smaller windscreens were made of clear Lexan, I cut away the molded-in "mesh" on the grille shell, which wasn't mesh at all, bit molded solid, and replaced it with real mesh that I "chromed" with Spaz Stix. Ditto on the headlight stone guards. The small marker lights on the front fender tops (turn signals?) are lost. I have no idea where they went. I know they were in the kit because I remember working with them (removing flash). Then I put them aside to install later, and now I can't find them anywhere. I hope I'll find them eventually, but as of now they're missing. As always, comments, criticisms, and questions are welcome.
  10. And here's the last step... I built a storage trunk to fit behind the seats, just in case my Jaguar owner and his best girl wanted to pack a picnic lunch, or maybe take a change of clothes because they're spending the weekend at a country bed and breakfast inn. First I made the actual wooden box and lid using basswood: Then I cut pieces of some faux-leather material I have (found in the fabric/sewing section of HL)... and used contact cement on the back of the "leather" and the storage box/trunk to wrap the trunk and trunk lid with the material: And now on to "Under Glass!"
  11. In a previous post you said "The 100MPG carb was out very briefly in the 70's"... I must have slept through that, because I was here in the '70s and don't remember ever seeing any proof of a "100 mpg carburetor." All I remember seeing were claims of such a device. And oh, BTW... I was once abducted by aliens. No, really, I was! Swear to God!
  12. Anyone can make a "documentary," regardless of the facts. If a 100 mpg carb ever existed, why have we never seen one in operation? Ever????
  13. You did such a nice job overall that calling out your "mistakes" seems awfully petty... but in the photo of the engine looking forward, you missed a few mold seam lines on the rear suspension parts, you could have added some more realistic bolt heads on the rear suspension arms to replace the kit connection points, and you should have sanded the tire treads to give them a more realistic look.
  14. Are you talking about the "100 mpg carburetor?" If you don't have one, or know anyone who has one, on what then do you base your belief in its existence?
  15. I'm still waiting for an affordable Tesla. My checkbook is at hand, and my writing hand is ready. I'm a fan of Elon Musk and others like him. We need more "Elon Musks" in this world.
  16. I've never seen a black Daytona before, but yours looks fantastic! Very cool, very dfferent. And I really like your choice of wheels. Nice job!
  17. There are a few nits I could pick, but I won't. Overall, you did a really nice job on a tough kit.
  18. Your mistake is assuming a model needs to come from a kit. Ever heard of Gerald Wingrove? Or all the other modelers out there who create models completely from scratch? Kit? They don't need no stinkin' kit!
  19. Fear??? To me, "cheap" Franklin and Danbury knockoffs would be a great thing!
  20. Slight delay in progress... I need to find some "in scale" mesh for the headlight stone guards. New photos as they become available...
  21. The Eagles once opened for Jethro Tull. They must have heard Tull doing this song, Sure sounds to me like the "inspiration" for Hotel California...
  22. Recognize this song from 1929?
  23. Speaking of the Yardbirds... here's an appearance by them on French TV in 1967. Recognize the song? And the lead guitarist with the "puffy shirt?"
  24. Sorry about that. Our mistake... But don't blame us for the Jaguar E-Type 2+2... that one is all on you guys!
