  1. Lotsa room for making out at the drive-in! Beautiful model! I love the paint, very nice!
  2. We've been tossing around this whole "rat rod" thing pretty thoroughly lately. Here's how I see it: Traditional hot rods (I'm talking late '40s-'50s era... the "true" hot rods to Bill and many others) were built by guys with more ambition than money. They built their cars to go as fast as they could go, using whatever parts their wallets could afford. The look of the car wasn't the primary goal... going fast was. These "real" hot rods wound up looking the way they did with very little, if any, intent by the builder to make them look a certain way. Today's rat rods, on the other hand, are not necessarily built to go fast. Or go at all. They are built to look at. The intent isn't to create a fast car on the cheap, the intent is to create a visual statement. Apples and oranges.
  3. Gotta agree with Roger. That car doesn't look particularly "safe" to me...
  4. I also think it sticks almost too well... it's tough to get the excess off. But my biggest complaint is that when you apply it to a mirror-smooth surface and burnish it down, it still has a slightly bumpy texture.
  5. From wikipedia: The term "jukebox" came into use in the United States around 1940, apparently derived from the familiar usage "juke joint", derived from the Gullah word "juke" or "joog" meaning disorderly, rowdy, or wicked.[5]
  6. But that was the whole point! That's what made it funny. Or not. Depends on your point of view...
  7. I agree. We look back at Tucker and see a tough, independent entrepreneur who we like to think would have "stuck it to the big guys"... but reality says that taking on the Big Three and surviving, let alone thriving, as a successful independent would have been a very big hill to climb. Art... how did you get a ride in one?
  8. Meg... or Chris. Or even the wheelchair guy.
  9. Thanks, everyone. This was a fun project and I'm very happy with how it turned out.
  10. I like your restyle. Nicely done, yet subtle and not crazy over the top. The taillight treatment is especially well done.
  11. Teslas keep catching on fire. Very bad publicity.
  12. I read that they were looking to "shake things up." I guess they did! I would have preferred they keep Brian. But at least they didn't kill off Stewie!
  13. Hard to say how Tucker would have fared against the Big Three. True, Tuckers had very good performance, above average for their day... but would a small independent that only built one model have survived, even if their product was a good one? Survived long enough, and made enough money, to ultimately add a few more models to the lineup. We'll never know.
  14. Now that's funny! But I think it's actually a contraction of joke and puke...
  15. Brian is dead! He got hit by a car in yesterday's episode.
  16. How about this one? The answer: MODEL!
  17. A 100% correct euro spec "California Wheels" car? Somebody at Revell needs to wake up...
  18. Jim lives in Pittsburgh. You live in Phoenix. How much salt do they throw down over the "winter" there? Obviously cars don't rust in a hot, dry climate the way they do in a "normal" four seasons climate.
  19. Nissan sponsored a project where they solicited input from young people who are "digital natives" (born after 1990) to come up with a new design. Clean sheet of paper, no preconceived ideas, no "legacy influences" (that is, retro designs). Basically... show us what ya got. Bring it on. What they came up with looks a lot like a car from 40-50 years ago! http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2013/11/22/generation-z-designs-car-for-nissan-and-it-looks-pretty-old/?intcmp=trending
  20. Nice model of a very cool car!
  21. I don't think any of Roth's cars can be considered rat rods.
