  7. Great looking models David.
  8. Here's what the side vents in the added trim look like now that they're opened up. They should look good with the brass screen that I'll be backing them with. Tomorrow I'll be choosing either Tangelo Pearl or Ultra Orange Pearl HOK paint for this beast. I have Brown flocking for carpets and a nice shade of Orange flocking that I might use in the interior along with some Orange and Leather brush paints. I'll have to see how well the colors go with the HOK paints. Additional updates to follow.
  9. Thanks guys. We just got back from Christmas partying in VA with my grandson, so now I can get back to working on this car and post some progress pics. I'm heading down to the workbench now. Stay tuned.
  10. Thanks Al. Today I opened up those vents in the added side trim. It took me about 3 hours to do both sides with a lot of careful drilling, carving, filing and sanding. I also found a piece of brass screening that I'll cut small pieces of to use for backing those vents. The brass color should go well with the Orange color of the car. No pictures until after Christmas as I'll be playing Santa for my grandson. I also assembled the engine block (heads, intake manifold, water pump, oil & tranny pans) and painted the whole thing aluminum. I'm thinking some of the rest of the engine parts will be body color to keep everything coordinated. I'm getting more and more psyched up about this project since I saw all those pictures of the 1:1 car. The pics gave me lots of ideas for details.
  11. Yep, I also check in on this thread daily just to see what this madman is adding. Absolutely amazing and incredible scratchbuilding talent...!!
  12. Great looking models Steve. I love them all.
  13. Thank you very much for those very kind comments Art and Stan. Art, if this car comes out looking half as good as the rendering I'll be very happy. I'll probably bring it to NNL East to display it. I look forward to seeing you again there.
  14. Thanks Dave. Well, it really won't be a big change...... it's still a 50's car, and it's sort of a mild custom. I won't be making an exact replica of the real 1:1 car... I'll just be using some ideas from it.
  15. Thank you very much Christian.
  16. Thank you fellas. Jerry, thanks for that Link. I never knew that the rendering was of an actual car. Those detail pictures are awesome.
  17. Outstanding models Peter. As Dave said, quality beats quantity every time.
  18. Those are great looking models Sean. That display case is awesome. Looks like you've got a dynamite car themed hobby area.
  19. Thanks guys. Tonight I adjusted the added side trim by removing the most forward section, so now it only has 3 slots instead of four. While I said that I wanted to replicate the pictured car, it won't be an "exact" replica. Oscar, I'm planning on painting the whole car Orange, but I will be painting the new side trim insert a darker color...... probably Tamiya's Red Brown....... so yeah, I guess you could call it a two-tone. Wayne, I had the wheels taped to the inside of the body for the pictures and when I moved the car for the rear angle shot (the last picture) the tape let go...... but I am planning on having the car sit low.
  20. Beautiful work as usual Harry. I love it.
  21. Yes, I just heard it on the news. R.I.P. Joe.
  22. Thanks guys. Curt, I may try to adjust the front edge of the added trim to move it back a bit. This is actually my first attempt at adding side trim.
  23. Thank you Tim and Mike. Mike, all it takes is patience and neatness.
  24. Cliff, that is one beautiful truck. I love everything you've done to restyle the front, rear and sides. What can be seen of the engine looks great and the exhaust and hinges are top-notch. Excellent work.
