  1. Great stuff Greg. I loved the stuff on Custom Cars and old Hot Rods. Thanks for posting the LINK... I saved it in my Favorites.
  2. Thanks very much for your very kind comments everyone. Here's a pic showing the engine bay Dave. As I said in the WIP thread, I only added a prewired distributor for engine wiring and didn't do the extra work to add heater hoses, brake line and battery cables. I guess I was being a little lazy on this one... LOL.
  3. I finished this car a little while ago. To recap, it is painted Tamiya Purple, clearcoated and polished. It was built as a mild, period Custom, using a custom tube grille, PE headlight half moon shields, Olds Fiesta front spinner hubcaps on wide whitewalls from my parts box. It has resin skirts and continental kit deck from Hendrix and a chrome tire cover and panels from Modelhaus. The lake pipes are from my parts stash. While they might be a slight bit larger than scale, they were the only ones I had. The taillight lenses are red LED light covers from an old electric stove panel that I took apart many years ago. Spotlights and antenna are also from the parts stash. I used the rear bumper(s) from the AMT '57 Ford Fairlane to make an extended bumper for the connie kit. The engine has an M.A.D. prewired distributor with Purple wires and I added a chrome air cleaner from the parts stash for a little bling. The interior is a resin set from Ed Fluck in a tuck & roll pattern which I painted Lavender and flocked with Violet flocking with Black flocked carpets. While it's not my best effort, it looks good on the shelf and makes a good addition to the "Class of '57". Thanks for looking in on this. All critiques and comments are welcomed.
  4. Steve, do you use a QTip or a cloth with thinner or a toothpick to wipe off the paint from the scripts?
  5. Hey, no reason for apologies Steve......sheet happens..!! I hope you are able to fix your cracking paint problems.
  6. Welcome to our plastic playground Steve.
  7. Yeah...... 1.7% increase...... Better than nothing I suppose, and better in our pockets.
  8. Thanks Jim. If all goes well I'm hoping to have this finished up by tomorrow at the latest.
  9. Thanks a lot Carl. Only a few more things to do to finish up this car.
  10. Nice pics Roy, thanks for sharing.
  11. Thanks Tom. I usually do the same thing with battery cables and brake lines in the engine room.... only running them as far as you can see them. I just didn't feel like doing that extra bit of work on this one.
  12. I use my XActo saw and file or sand the end smooth.
  13. I finally finished the chassis on this car. The rear of the exhaust pipes have to run between the shocks and the frame rails and then go under the springs to attach to the floorpan on the outside of the frame rails. I wound up having to partially disassemble the rear end to get the exhaust routed correctly. The interior is completely assembled (I have to reattach the steering wheel to the dashboard.) and attached to the top side of the floorpan. The carpet is flocked Black. The resin seats and door panels were purchased from Ed Fluck and are done in a custom tuck & roll pattern. I painted the tuck & roll portions Lavender and flocked the remaining parts in Violet. There is a thin BMF strip at the top of the door panels and the resin cranks and handles were painted chrome silver. The dashboard is painted body color (Tamiya Purple) and detailed with BMF and chrome silver paint. The kit's dash gauge was installed and covered with clear epoxy for a lens. I used a resin tuck & roll steering wheel cover from ReplMinCoMD because it went well with the interior pieces and I painted it Lavender. I still have to attach the radiator hoses, but I'm not adding the usual array of battery cables, heater hoses and brake lines. I feel that just the spark plug wires are enough on this one (maybe I'm getting lazy in my old age). The glass is in and drying so I'm hoping to be able to wrap up this model tomorrow and post it in Under Glass. Thanks for following along.

Beautiful car Ray... Love the color.
  15. Thank you Jim, I appreciate your encouraging words.
  16. Looking good Steve. The foiling is fun sometimes isn't it?
  17. Very nice. I love the looks of the Lowrider "Bombs". I did one of these a few years ago but in a darker Black Cherry color. Yours is much brighter.
  18. What a fantastic creation Ira. You just continue to amaze us with your creativity and use of bits and pieces of every day items that most of us wouldn't even dream of using on a model.... Cookie trays...... Parts of pens......Tops of honey containers...... Pieces of an egg plate...... If it's not nailed down, you'll use it somewhere on a model...!!! If you're married, your wife must guard her stuff or you'll incorporate it into a model somewhere. What an imagination you've got..!!
  19. Yes, Rest In Peace Jack.
  20. Outstanding work Harry. Your scratchbuilding is very inspiring.
  21. That's looking pretty good Blair.
  22. Orange Peel is almost exactly that...... When the paint on your car looks "bumpy and uneven" similar to the outside of an orange.
  23. Thanks Phillip and good luck with your "Southern Fried" '57.
  24. Thank you very much Carl.
  25. Thank you Luis and Ron. About half of the chassis is assembled so far and I should be able to complete it tomorrow. It's getting there...
