  1. Try using a sprue cutter like a side cutter to raise the head enough so you can then use pliers to unscrew or pull out the screw.
  2. Thanks very much again everyone. Tom Bowen, I wasn't planning on adding any window tint to my model. Tom G., No......I really don't wanna!
  3. Yeah that guy definitely has a sense of humor.
  4. That's how I find it to be also. I'll add that little extra detail to one part or portion of a model and then it just mushrooms! Like eating potato chips... you're not satisfied with just one.
  5. I've also done exactly what Art said on several promo's that I've recently worked on with complete success and no damage at all to anything. I have several more promo's also lined up to be worked on that I will also use the same technique or method to remove the chassis.
  6. There have been comments made in other threads more or less stating "if you don't have anything good to say, then don't say anything." Obviously no one likes to hear negative comments about their work, but if those comments are made in a constructive fashion, without being rude or malicious, then so be it. This, and other public forums, is not the place to come if you are a thin-skinned type who can't take criticism about your work. I personally think that Ken does fantastic work and is extremely talented as a modeler with scratchbuilding skills that I only wish I had. I can agree with his point that was made about listing things wanted or needed to trade for, and having responses from people who want what you have, but don't have what you want and I also find that to be very annoying. However I guess that will not change.
  7. Gee thanks Tom......create some more work for me...LOL. Obviously I wasn't shooting for an exact replica on this build. It was the colors that lit the fire. I may do as you suggest...... or I may not. Mike, I may try to add a bit of gold BMF somewhere around the trim as you suggest, The gold BMF is tough to work with though and usually doesn't want to "stick" where you put it.
  8. I know Harry... That's what makes it so darned annoying.
  9. Tom, you forgot about the '58 Buick in eye-searing yellow..!! LOL.
  10. Too darn many TV commercials on AT THE SAME TIME ON EVERY CHANNEL.
  11. Great looking model Bruce. I love your color choices.
  12. Darren, you've got one helluv an imagination with these theme builds, and you do an awesome job on them all..
  13. Thanks very much for all your kind comments guys, I really appreciate it. I unmasked the fully painted body today and it really looks good. I tried getting the wheels off but they're on there really good. I don't think they look too bad with the paint colors. I clearcoated the body after I took these pictures and I'll give it a day or so to fully dry and then I can polish and BMF it. In the meantime I'm working on the rest of the engine compartment stuff. Thanks for following along on this build.
  14. What everyone else said Peter. Kudos on another fine model. How many more do you have lined up to show us..??
  15. That is a beautiful looking model Steven.
  16. Very refreshing to see an unchopped Merc. Great job Peter.
  17. That is one beautiful El Camino Peter.
  18. Great work so far Richard, keep it up.
  19. Sam, that looks absolutely wonderful. You did a great job.
  20. Thanks very much Chris and Ron, I really appreciate your encouraging words. Here's a picture of the completed chassis that I didn't post yesterday. Today I completed work on the dashboard and steering wheel and assembled the whole interior. It looks pretty good. Tomorrow I should be able to mask off the silver paint on the body and spray the green. Further updates as they happen. Thanks for looking in.
  21. Yeah Jeff, I'm kind of second-guessing my choice of wheels based on the color scheme I'm planning. I may change back to the stock wheels if I can get the wheels off without destroying things since, if I remember correctly, I either CA glued or epoxied them on. We'll see how things look once I've got the body all painted. I sprayed the silver paint on today. If this nice weather holds up, hopefully I can mask off the silver and spray the green tomorrow.
  22. Keep it up Phillip. Hopefully you'll get it down good enough to play like Duane Allman did.
  23. Absolutely beautiful build Peter. Keep them coming.
  24. Thanks very much guys. Carl, I used green spark plug wire for the piping. On previous models I've used thinner detail wire (Detail Master) but I didn't have any in green). I drilled holes in the ends and corners, inserted a short length of the wire and glued it from the back side with CA glue, along with the painted pin heads. While it was pretty straight, I wound up gluing the wire down in a couple of spots on the top side with CA glue using a toothpick.
