This is looking really good Steve. -
That's a great looking model Dave, and I love all the details.

And "operating costs" here means salaries to workers, various taxes and/or fees, electric & gas utility rates, materials & equipment costs, and freight & fuel costs. Everything costs more in this country...

Great looking Plymouth Michael. I love the interior. Nice job.

An apology
Ramfins59 replied to The Modeling Hermit's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
As everyone has already stated, I also have absolutely no problems with the models you have posted, or the photos or backgrounds or settings pictured....... No apology is needed as far as I am concerned. -
A very Happy Birthday wish to you Ray. Hope you have a great day.

That's a sweet looking '36 John. Have fun building the model.

Out for a Cruise
Ramfins59 replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Both great stories Steve. Best of continued luck with the Poncho, and "condolences" on the Caddy. I truly miss the '59 Dodge that I wound up selling in 2005 because of no longer driving. -
That's a great looking Olds Douglas... great diorama setting and picture too.

Good to hear that all of your results are normal Harry. Not only do you keep us all in line here on the Forum, but we enjoy looking at your fabulous models.

That looks pretty cool Tom.

Aside from having my usual, yearly modeling doldrums at this time of year, there are a bunch of "chores" that need attention around the old homestead. Harry once stated that he totally stops modeling during the summer months to attend to all the "fair weather chores" that need to be done around the home. In the past week I sprayed "Home Defense" bug killer around the perimeter of the house, doors and windows to try to keep the little buggers from invading the place. I sprayed Roundup weed killer around and in my driveway, walkway, front porch and rear deck to try to keep the "jungle" from creeping in where it's not wanted. I brought up the deck table umbrella from the basement and set it up in the weighted stand under the table, after cleaning the table. I also washed off the green, mossy-like film that was discoloring the white PVC railings in spots on my back deck. On the inside, I've been wanting to rearrange the furniture in my living room. I wanted to move the TV to the opposite wall where the couch is but needed about 25 feet of cable wire to do that. My wife picked that up from Home Depot, but both ends had a "male" connector which caused her to go back for "female" splice connections which solved that problem. It took me several hours to connect and run the new cable wire around the room which involved swiffering the whole floor, moving the couch, coffee table, 2 oak bookcases, the TV and stand, a recliner and 2 small side tables, plus a couple of lamps. I was pooped after all that but when my wife came home from work and said that she liked the way it all looked, I was very happy. There are still a bunch of things I want to do, like cleaning some windows and glass doors, and cleaning some screens. Then, when I get REALLY ambitious, I want to attempt to clean up the garage. There are a bunch of flattened cardboard boxes that we need to take to the town's recycling bin. There is a 6' X 10' area off to one side of the garage that has become a catch-all drop-off "pile" over the 10 years we've been in this house. I know it will take many, many hours to go through that "pile" to separate what can and should be kept, and what should definitely be pitched. I know I'll probably be filling our trash barrel several times for sure. We'll most likely also wind up buying some sort of shelving unit or 2 to "neatly" store the things we'll want to keep. At least I don't have a pool to worry about, or, have to do any yard work (I pay my neighbor's son to do those chores). I'm sure that everyone has their own list of chores that need attention during these summer months...... The joys of being a homeowner.

Man, I LOVE those things...... but there are no White Castle places here in western PA. We find 'em in the freezer section of the supermarket sometimes, but the freshly made ones at the restaurants are WAY better.

I wish you luck with everything Harry. Getting older does suck sometimes as various body parts start to deteriorate, but it beats the alternative... Hang in there Harry.

I think the reissued '59 Imperial also came with a basket style continental kit.
-
Modelhaus makes the round continental tire cover as a 3 piece unit (front & back cover and chromed ring). They usually include those in their kits that come with a connie kit, but I was able to buy several of them from them separately a few years ago for $5 each. I made my own continental kit "deck" from sheet plastic. I've only made the full width continental kits as I think they look better than the "basket" style ones pictured above.

1965 Plymouth Fury. Update, 7/27, WHEW!
Ramfins59 replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Yeah, the only caster that makes decent outside mirrors is Modelhaus and they only make 2 styles... the rectangular ones, and the round ones with sort of a tunneled look... I've gotten lucky and found some of the 2 piece mirrors (base and mirror like the ones in the '59 Chevy kits) on chrome trees at shows and from friends, but I've already used all of those that I had so now I just have the Modelhaus ones. -

Steve, I know you like scratch building stuff for your cars, but are you aware that Replicas & Miniatures Co. of MD makes an assortment of 8 different resin cast master cylinders, 2 with boosters for only $7.50
