I was just replying to this post when the AMX's came in. What I said about the other cars applies to them. That series of AMX's is one of my favorite muscle cars! Again, excellent work!

Those are nice builds. I particulary like the '65 T-Bird but they all are great! You research your models well, that is part of the fun of this great hobby! Very good work!

Mr. Gray is right. Those '93 C's were such nice cars that when the Sheriff traded them in at the Chevy dealer where I worked, they would ask $3 to 4,000 dollars for them. The Taxi companys and folks that pulled boats ate them up! Many of them were high mileage cars, as well.

I was a Chevrolet/Oldsmobile service writer at the time these cars were popular. Every '76 car I saw had an orange engine in it, whether small or big block. I did see some early production '77 downsized cars with orange engines in them, but by winter of '77, the engine color had changed to GM corporate blue, as other posters on this forum have pointed out. And, since GM had a controversy over using Chevrolet engines in Oldsmobiles at the time ( A pointless factor), I do not doubt that some Chevrolets from '76 had blue engines in them. Although I did not see any in my job, they were probably Olds 350's!

Dirty Mary Crazy Larry...... 68 into a 69 charger again
promo55 replied to mopar01lee's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I love that movie! I always wanted to build the Charger and the '66 Chevrolet Impala. That is a great build. Now, maybe you can build that car AFTER the train hit it!? And, since that movie was made about the same time "Baretta" was on TV, maybe the Impala is the same car used in "D.M.C.L?" -
Really nice builds! They should have made a Judge Ventura! They are all great models but the '75 Judge is outstanding! Very creative!
-
Nice build! That car resembles a real one built by Richard Zocchoi in the late '50's or early '60's. I love the colors!

I just moved to Florence (Near Vevay), Indiana, in the southeastern portion of the state. I am originally from Straight Creek, Kentucky, in Bell county, but I lived most of my life in Norwood, Cincinnati, and Goshen, Ohio.

'40 & '48 Revell Ford kits.
promo55 replied to promo55's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thank you all for your replies. I will get the current '48 locally, but will try to find a "Pro Modeler" kit later. Right now, I am setting up a new place to build models. I moved into another state 3 months ago, the work is slow, but sure! -
Can the new issues of Revell's '40 & '48 Ford convertibles be built showroom stock? I missed these kits the first time around and a friend had his "Pro Modeler" '40 stolen, so he is intrested, also.
-
That kit looks pretty good to me. I will get one. I have the kit released a few years ago. This kit is better! And REMEMBER, in order for a car to be customized, it has to be stock!
-
Those are very nice models, your paint and detailing is excellent! Yes, the Skyliner dates from '59. I have seen 2 more where the top worked properly. You did a first rate job on getting that complex assembly working correctly! Very good!
-
That is a great looking '70 Ford. I love cars like that. I think the colors are morning gold and indian fire metallic, just what that car needs! This is truly an impressive model! The 429 is not bad, either. Very, very good work!

As I mostly build showroom stock, the fact that the '56 does not have stock tires in it does not bother me. I got plenty in my parts stash. I do not have any issues of that car as yet, but I will buy this one, at least Revell included the stock hubcaps, rims, and tires in this reissue.
-
As I missed it in 1976, I really, really want this kit. I was under the impression that the AMT kits were no longer imported to the U.S.A. but were made in Indiana or Illinois. Is this NOT TRUE?
-
What!? You guys don't play with your die cast cars like I do!? Zoom,Zoom!
-
I think the AMT kit is much preferred over the Revell kit because of the limitation of the Revell kit being only a custom car. And, 'shine runners wanted the car to blend in, as has previously been pointed out. Therefore, I would prefer the Cadillac engine as these cars had a frequent turnover rate, a '49 anything would have long been obsolete by '57!.

I have been planning a truck like this for years. I am basing mine on an old promo that has no bed. I will use the promo chassis, I do not care what the bottom looks like. I was thinking of building the bed out of styrene plastic sheets but since Don Holthaus offers a utility body, that may be the best way to go. I will be followinhg this buildup very closely! What you have done so far is excellent!

GMC " Fall Guy "
promo55 replied to plastiktruck's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Great job on the GMC, and diorama display! I love this series of GM trucks!. -
It's good to see something besides a '69 Camaro, Charger, or Mustang being released. I have several die cast cars and I love Camaros. But,we need more of this type of cars. Very good Motormax!

My Inspirational Model Car
promo55 replied to Romell R's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm old school! My first model was a promo '57 Chevy wagon, yellow & white. I built a Palmer '59 Plymouth as my first kit, a disaster! I then built a '63 Mercury and discovered good model car kits. I have built and collected kits, promos, and die cast cars ever since. I just wish I had some of the cars I trashed early on! -
Did Revell correct the grille in this reissue? I have the orange version of this kit and the grille looks like a mixture of Chevy and GMC parts. Other than that, it is a great kit. I don't mind that the engine is molded into the cab. After all, iT is a snap together kit!

You did an excellent job on replicating this very rare car! My cousin had a green real car, 283 V8 and Powerglide. It was the first and only Bel Air hardtop I have seen, and this was back in the early to mid '70's. That is a great car and modeling subject!
