  1. thanks! The kit has the xr7 interior so I don't know how far I will go with it. Some pics would help. I grew up with mustangs and torinos. Dad had one cougar, a 69 xr7 390. Done a couple restos as well. I've also seen red oxide on some Cougars I think it depended on what was on hand. Here is a mach 1 chassis I did. I tend to stick to the factory stock fords as that's what I grew up with so, like you I know silly things like casting numbers etc lol
  2. No problem. They build up as nice shelf models as is but I wanted a bit more out of it?
  3. I had to stretch the chassis about 3mm to set the wheel base. The kit comes with a very generic plate chassis and the engine bay is not even close to correct. I figured if I were going to cut up a rare model I might as well use the best parts to make a nice factory stock car that is seldom seen on the contest tables. To my knowledge in the first to do this conversion ?
  4. it's going to be a 428 scj 4 speed car. The big daddy eliminator?
  5. i got this kit from a friend as a rebuilder. It's hard to find and expensive. He started adding the better 73 cougar engine bay. I thought there had to be a better option. I cut up a revell 69 Mach 1 and used a 69 shelby as a donor. I will be doing a grabber green 70 eliminator. This is an easy great upgrade that is easy to do. I have the 67,68 and 69 Cougars as well and now they will all be getting this treatment. Follow along. I will let the pics do the talking. Happy to hear any comments or questions
  6. it's a decal and at the time I took those photos it may have not been on. It's there now though Harry? Great eyes!
  7. hey Nate, thanks. Yes the wheels are from the S&M car with some width taken off the back. Tires are Amt parts pack polyglas. Rears are the g60s and fronts are the f60s. Sucked to split up 2 sets for one car but it plays out well to save the others for a challenger T/A or AAR as they came staggered like that factory. That's my plan anyway lol
  8. thanks. It's model master laquer bronze with wet look clear
  9. Thanks everyone. I had a good time building it.
  10. Thanks very much guys. I love oddball muscle cars.
  11. hey guys. Started this build in December. Wanted to do an odd 70 cuda I saw online. It's bronze with tan interior. Went with a day 2 look with keystones, amber fog lights and big and little good years. Thanks for looking. The build is here http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/109057-70-hemi-cuda-feb-18-pretty-much-done?/. Comments good or bad welcome
  12. Thanks everyone. It's pretty much done. Pics under glass soon. Last update here. I will let the pics do the talking
  13. I have an airbrush but don't use it. That is testors laquer and testors wet look clear. Just lots of time in prep. Plus part of my living is made spraying paint lol. So that helps ?
  14. Thanks everyone. Got some days off so I've got some bench time. Got the hemi pretty well dialed in. I won't be removing the hood scoop so this is pretty well all it needs. This was the last big part to do. Final assembly can now begin. Thoughts?
  15. Got some more done last night. Chassis is coming along. I think it looks pretty good even if it is just the bottom.
  16. Got a few things done. Keystones detailed and it's mocked up on all 4s. Chassis is really coming along now. Pics of that soon. Hemi coming together. Spent some time detailing all the small parts so they are ready. Thanks for looking
  17. Great tip. I can add to it, when I built my nasty hemi for my 71 duster I wanted everything to fit like it would if it had come that way. I used the hemi and headers from the 68 dart as they share a platform in real life. Here are the results they will fit with the torsion bars and stock steering but I switched to coilovers and rack and pinion steering just because I could. Lol.
  18. Good build. I've always loved this car and I will be doing one how it originally looked.
