  1. Yikes! I never realized the difference in attachment points between North American and European trailers! That's a huge gap ahead of the lead trailer.
  2. The tires were done using a new trick I learned. I have a little piece of stamping rubber glued to a piece of styrene rod. I apply Vallejo white paint to the rubber and stamp the raised letters on the tires. This gets the paint on the letters and nothing else if you're careful with it.
  3. Hey Ken, I'd love to make it to the show but unfortunately it looks like I'm going to be moving that weekend. Plus, its my daughter's birthday!
  4. Actually I dare say they start at Halifax. Get them shipped over to the port there, drive through NS and NB and head through Maine to the US. I see all sorts of European campers on the roads here.
  5. Yeah, I'm not super happy with how the license plate turned out. I had wanted to recess it farther toward the frame but the step bumper interferes. Also, the kit's plat mount is super thick. I think I will end up re-doing it with some thinner styrene and a different plate.
  6. I finally finished this one up. I started a new job right after the last update and haven't had much spare time as a result. Plus, I was starting to get bogged down with trying to replicate the added detail I put on the Desert Rat so I took a step back and finished it up as is. I may go back and fiddle with it later on, but it is done for now. Under Glass thread here. Tanks for looking.
  7. Finally finished up my second Datsun 720 build. Build thread is here.
  8. That particular setup hauls wood chips for the pulp and paper mill here in Saint John. But, the company is also a general dry goods hauler so they have lots of reefer trailers as well.
  9. I have no idea how common these rigs are elsewhere, but I see these all the time: The most common setup around here, however, is a B-train tanker. There is a potash mine about 45 minutes from here that has a major water infiltration problem and they are trucking brine out of there to the bay here. One comes up the off-ramp behind my neighbourhood about every 20 minutes or so. In fact, one of them took a turn too fast yesterday and flipped. I can't find any good pictures right now of the setup, but if you do an image search for Seaboard/Harmac you'll get an idea of their rigs.
  10. That's cool, I like it. Lots of really good ideas that could make it to production.
  11. There are a few options, the best fitting one being the one-year-only '78 C10 by MPC. The Revell 64-65 C10 kits would also work, but you would need to swap out the trailing arm rear suspension with leaves. The later MPC/AMT C10 kits would be incorrect as they are torsion bar suspension.
  12. I love it! Seeing this kind of fabrication with diecasts really opens my eyes for what is possible to build.
  13. I've been watching Vegas Rat Rods lately and I gotta say, there's just something about Steve's 55 Chevy... And of course the Diamond T.
  14. Now with matching trailer! I still need to come up with a set of license plates from the same province or state for both the truck and trailer. I'll probably end up printing off a set on photo paper. I'm also going to look for some appropriately sized chain to add along with a wiring harness.
  15. Okay, so, I've been having some paint issues on the body but I've gotten it stripped and going to paint again. I decided to paint this truck white, which is actually a difficult colour to paint. Anyway, I'm having some trouble deciding if I should go with the white raised letters or leave them black. Thoughts?
  16. If you're referring to the Goodyear Tracker A/T, you'll have to pull a set from an older issue that still has the raised letters. They are 1:24 scale and most of the 1:25 scale tires you will find don't fit the wheels very well. Your best bet might be to look at vendors that sell parts like Newt's Boneyard or search through eBay.
  17. You would think that with a 1:1 scale plastic model, they could make it not look so much like plastic.
  18. I can always use more of those tires, thanks, Steve! The only completed Dodge 4x4 build I did I used a LRE reissue and added the suspension and transfercase from the Monogram Ramcharger kit.
  19. Wow, a 4x4 pickup! A little outside your usual build style, my friend. In addition to a set of Desert Dogs I can supply you with the proper 4x4 front suspension for a Dodge if you like.
  20. Someone sure put a lot of time and effort into crafting this....masterpiece... http://www.oldparkedcars.com/2015/02/1975-ford-pinto-sedan-delivery-station.html
  21. That would doubly suck if there was a load of concrete in that drum.
  22. I have an inventory of my kits that I keep religiously updated, mostly should I ever need it for insurance purposes. I haven't actually tried to tally up how many "active" projects I have on the go, but I'm fearful it would be more then some stashes!
  23. My guess is those notches are for the side-mounted spare shown on the box art. No idea why they would mold both fenders that way, though.
