  1. The potential for building many different options is pretty cool with the new Moebius kit. For this build, I have combined the 4x4 suspension and front crossmember from the AMT 78 F-350 reissue with the AMT 53 F-100 reissue. In these two chassis shots, you can see the 4x4 components in white plastic. The F-350 kit has the transfer case divorced from the transmission with a small drive shaft. I cut off the frame mounting tab and attached the transfer case directly to the transmission. The wheels and tires are from the MPC World War II Jeep. Here is a mock up: I had to make filler panels to go between the outside of the cab and the frame to cover the gap. I also cut down the side steps from another 53 F-100 kit to make the short steps. I also cut out the radiator support. Chassis in primer: Now in color with the bed at an appropriate height. Paint is Krylon Dual True Blue and Ivory.
  2. Oh! I almost forgot about this one:
  3. I'm wondering if someone casts these wheels in resin? They are the 6-bolt, round window wheels used on medium duty trucks, F-600, F-700, C-600, C-700...?
  4. Now this is how I've been wanting to build my Lonestar from the start, but could never find any pictures of such a configuration. Now I can get back on it!
  5. I didn't think there was a car smaller than a Peel P50; I was mistaken!
  6. Just bought the Moebius '71 F-100, next will probably be the Revell '57 Ford wagon.
  7. My current arrangement, all set up after moving in at the end of May. It is a small room, but not the smallest I've crammed into!
  8. I can verify, but I don't have a picture at the moment.
  9. FYI, there are no Exxon or Mobil stations in Canada; only Esso.
  10. 5 - Looks an awful lot like a 66-67 Charger roof. 10 - Studebaker roof, maybe? 12 - Silhouette trailer? 14 - AMT '65 Chevelle wagon/El Camino
  11. Nothing quite like driving in the passing lane and seeing your wheel go by!
  12. From what I've been told, a good thinner for Vallejo paints is glass cleaner (Windex etc).
  13. Monogram has released 1:25 kits under their own brand in the past. IIRC the first one was the 59 Cadillac Eldorado convertible; the 50 Ford F-1 is another.
  14. Looks good, Steve! I'm not feeling those tires, though...
  15. It will be getting a big block, not sure where from yet. Don't really like the kit's engine as it is a bit of a mish-mash. I'm hoping the 440 from a Revell 69 Charger will fit the bill with some updating.
  16. Progress! I've gotten the rear bumper and lower rear quarter panels in place, as well as the driver's side lower body. Apologies for the pictures; it's dark out. I've gone back and filled in the holes for the rearview mirrors as well as levelled out the trunk lid. The donor body had the luggage rack glued on; it will not be going back on. I've also applied my goo on the inside of the body along all the seams, hopefully to fill in the little hairline cracks and add strength. The body is warped a bit; I'm hoping I can work it out.
  17. Okay, wow....I last did anything with this over three years ago! I had the idea to build an SVO convertible but wasn't happy with the convertible body I started using as it had failed paint job on it that just wouldn't come off. I stashed the project away in a box, waiting to get another convertible body. Fast forward three years and two moves and I finally managed to grab a built-up convertible kit for $2. My body work skills have advanced some since then so I'm hopeful I can pull this conversion off this time. I started with the easiest part: the nose. I got the wheel wells lined up this time, something I couldn't quite get last time. As you can tell from these pictures, the windshield frame from the built-up broke during disassembly, so I had to graft on the frame from the other body. Hopefully my next update will be before 2018...!
  18. After moving and finally getting my new model room all set up, I figured I'd get back to work on a project that I've been noodling on since March. Last fall I picked up a few of the MPC Dodge fourth generation D/W-series pickups and have been figuring out what to build with them, as I tend to gravitate towards options that were not kitted and/or oddball factory options. So, the first build of many will be this 1980 Dodge W200. I am using the cab from the Firefighter issue along with the kit bed and another Lil' Red Express bed to make my favourite bed option, the long bed Utiline. I added 18 scale inches to the front of the bed and six scale inches to the back. The chassis, interior, suspension, and wheels are from a 1975 issue of the tooling. I don't have much so far, but I do have the bed spliced together. I plan on narrowing the axles sufficiently to tuck the wheels in under the fenders where they should be. Engine will be an RB V8, probably sourced from an AMT 71 Charger as the kit's engine is quite the hodge-podge of parts.
  19. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one that finds the 1970 model year the ugliest of Chevelles/El Caminos...
  20. This is the one you're looking for:
  21. You are much better off adapting the MPC Bronco suspension. It is quite detailed and has a high parts count. The Monogram front suspension is all one piece and has the typical open top differential.
