  1. I live in Saint John, NB. As far as I know, Hobby Lobby doesn't have Canadian stores. The closest store to me is in Bangor, ME, which is 136 miles. However, I am a long haul truck driver and I have easy access to the HL in Auburn, ME, which is about 221 miles away. I've also been to stores in Niagara Falls, N.Y., and Alamance Crossing, NC. I'll be looking for the Molotow pens now that I know they carry them.
  2. I will say, driving a manual in heavy traffic can be rather tiring. The Cascadia's clutch is really heavy, but I don't use it much. Usually go between 4/5 but in a 13 speed that involves a range change. I have a Mazda 5 now for puttering around when I'm home and it is a 5 speed. My pickup is a 93 Chevy that I inherited from my dad; wish it was a manual but I won't be changing it.
  3. He says the 60 Starliner has two complete engines; the 352 and what is the other one?
  4. Do any of these places have easy access to the interstate and truck parking?
  5. Casey, I have to ask out of affinity for the venerable six cylinder: have you considering putting the AMC 258 in this from the MPC Pacer?
  6. I'm enjoying being on the road so far! I have about 16,000 km in now. I have been down as far as Georgia and as west as far as Iowa. Most trips I get are on the 5-7 days range, usually home for two days. My most recent trip had me out for 12 days. My company is really good at letting drivers decide how much home time they want. I got to visit the Iowa 80 truck stop, what a place! Unfortunately the museum was closed when I was there; hopefully I can get back when it is open.
  7. Went to the Hobby Lobby at Alamance Crossing, NC and they have a bunch of kits on clearance. I picked up the Piranha, a 65 Mustang funny car, and the 23 T delivery truck for $30!
  8. I was at my LHS today and talking with the owner and he showed me a listing on his suppliers website for a new tool 1966 Suburban that is being issued the same month as the Foose F-100. This was the first I'd heard of this; anyone know more?
  9. Wow, its been a while since I updated this thread! I finished my course at the end of August, finished my internship last week and now I've been cut loose with my own truck. I leave for my first trip tomorrow morning, headed to Greensboro, GA. I was a little spoiled by my trainer's truck. It is a 2015 Kenworth T680, Paccar MX-13 and an Eaton 13-speed. Some pictures I took during the last four weeks... A very tight spot I parked a trailer in: Literal steaming piles of poo at a mushroom farm in Temple, PA Driving into a building and backing to a dock at the Wegmans distribution center in Rochester, NY: And now my assigned truck. It is a 2013 Freightliner Cascadia, Detroit DD15 and a Detroit DT12. It currently has 621939km on the clock.
  10. The only thing that is shared between the Monogram and Revell squarebody kits are the subject material. Check out my history on the Revell kits: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/75490-history-of-revells-squarebody-pickup-kits/
  11. I was wondering if these Kenworth wheels are available in resin anywhere: Thanks!
  12. Some more modern trucks would be a delight to see. Italeri makes a great Volvo VN780 which I may be driving in the next couple of weeks. But how a bout a new Peterbilt 587 or 579 or any Peterbilt with the new cab. Kenworth T660 and T680. Hopefully if they do a bunch of Paccar trucks (could do some DAFs, too!) they would tool up MX11 and MX13 engines for swapping around. And, of course, a Freightliner Cascadia. Seeing as how everyone kinda missed the boat on the Columbia when it was relevent.
  13. The Chevrolet version of this tooling has everything you're after. Try looking for one of those online; a built-up would be your most economical option.
  14. It doesn't. Stock (ish) building options only. It is a straight reissue of thr version found in the Gone Fishing set.
  15. We finished our in-class training last week, today was our first day with the driving simulator. Here I am searching for gears. It is setup with a Fuller 13-speed to match our real truck.
  16. I do recall there being a difference with the special edition metal cases, too. The Double Dragster tin definitely has more parts in it.
  17. Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I have an engineering degree, but a I've found that I don't like the work as much as I thought I would and the work doesn't seem to like me. In six years I've worked less than four total years. And that's involved travelling halfway across the country anyway my wife had a stable career so it's not fair to her to uproot the family so I can find a job. Re-careering into something that is always in demand seemed like the best course of action. As for a progress update, I have gone through the first week of in-class training and now have my learner's permit and air brake endorsement.
  18. Having been out of work for the past eight months and not having much luck finding anything, I've made the decision to change careers. I have enrolled at a local driver's training college to get my Class 1E driver's license, which in NB gives me a CDL. It is a 12 week program, four of which are interning with a carrier. The company I've signed up with does all flatbed hauling. Could be interesting!
  19. As mentioned above, Expeditions only came in half-ton variations. The rear axle was a coil spring setup rather than a leaf spring, but other than that the chassis and even wheelbase is the same as a regular cab, short bed F-150. Expeditions only had V8 engines, but both the 4.6L and 5.4L were available. For correct wheels, you will need to grab a set from the Revell or Lindberg '97 F-150 kits. The wheels supplied in this kit is the incorrect steel wheel combination from a '09+ F-150, which has a 6x135 bolt pattern rather than the Expedition's 5x135 pattern. The Lindberg and Revell kits can also supply a stock grille without the police lights. Although not correct for an Expedition, they would be close enough in scale.
  20. Keep in mind that, IIRC, a factory dually pickup wasn't really offered until the Seventh Generation F-Series. This and the Sixth Generation ('73-'79) would have offered dually cab and chassis models or stake beds, but any pickup beds were aftermarket conversions. Someone please correct me if I am mistaken. I picked up a '72 today and noticed a few differences. First being the colour of the plastic, which is a sort of tan colour like the test shots rather than the grey of the previous issues. Not sure if this means anything or not. This kit appears to share most of its parts with the '69 and '70 kits, changing the grille, interior, and door panels appropriately. Biggest change is the small-block Ford engine, the first such offering from Moebius (but probably shared with the upcoming Mercury Comet).
  21. Wow! That carrier is a local company and that container for sure came through the Port of Saint John...!
  22. Oops, didn't see that GTO there!
  23. For Monogram Muscle I have an '87 Buick Grand National. In addition to the abovementioned Revell Muscle kits, I also have a '66 Pontiac GTO and a '96 Ford Mustang Saleen S281.
