Just a stellar project! Can't wait to see the body in paint! -

Ron Hamilton has a handsome collection of "builders" from the metal axle days. Here are two of his, and he's got lots more! -

Rattle Cans - who still uses them?
mrknowetall replied to tiking's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I also use both. I have a couple of airbrushes and all the necessary "stuff" needed to use them, but, like most, I also have a really big collection of rattle cans. -
Go for it! I think you'll find similar booths manufactured by the same company. In any event, the Fotodiox booth sets up in about ... two minutes. Just remember that the halogen lights are very hot, so be careful with them.

I'm impressed! That's dedication to model building, for sure!

Either way. I was just getting done shooting some pics when that was taken. Don't get those lights too close to the nylon fabric. They get VERY hot!

A new photo booth! Finally! This is a Fotodiox unit that Brett Barrow clued me in on. He bought one, and I followed his lead. It includes two (HOT!) halogen lights, four different backdrops and a hinky camera stand thingie. The unit folds flat in a self contained case, with pockets for storing the lights. At $40, delivered directly from Fotodiox, It's a pretty sweet dealio! This set-up beats the old way many of used to do model car photography. Way back then, we all used a background "sweep" using poster board, and our lighting came from reflector shades with tungsten bulbs. All that worked fine, but it sure was a pain to set up.

Metal Axle Madness!
mrknowetall replied to mrknowetall's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Last one for me today. This crusty old dusty is SMP's '60 Chevy El Camino. It's a survivor for sure, and I might get around to "restoring" it one day. Or not. We'll see. -

Here's another one I bought the way you see it here. No paint. Note the precise mounting of the mirror, which fell off as I bagged it up for hibernation. -

I'll start first! I needed to re-shoot some pics. My files are too big.

No clue, although I'll bet somebody here does know. -

Here's one I wish I had a better picture of. I may have swiped this pic from an eBay listing, but I can't remember. -
Where to start? Got a nice 20"X20" photo box from Fotodiox yesterday, and I'm expecting delivery of a Rep's and Min, chopped Model A coupe today (I hope). All by mail. I was mail order deprived as a child.

Michael Gross (from the 80's TV show Family Ties) is a model railroader. He's from the Chicago area originally, and has been a past celebrity guest at the iHobby (trade) shows. A very nice guy! -
