Revell thinking about NASCAR again
weirich1 replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
But it will take them forever to release these kits and they will be outdated and will require modding to make them accurate -
Pretty sweet to see an old-school build. I met him once at Detroit-Metro Airport after an MIS race. Of course, he was outside smoking a cigarette; Dave Marcis was with him.

Revell 2012 Fall New Releases Announced
weirich1 replied to TurboKitty's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Only one that caught my interest is the FOOSE Firebird! Why the hell are we seeing so many re-issues? Can't we get some some current production vehicles? I would love to see a new Ford F-150, Ford Taurus SHO, Dodge Charger, 2013 Mustang with the "5.0" engine. Quit re-using the old tired molds and give the car enthusiast something to have some fun while building. I know it is all about licensing with the manufacturers or are Revell engineers just lazy? -
trim or grind PSF wheels center post
weirich1 posted a topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've got some PSF wheels (23" chrome Ts with awesome tires), what is the best way to trim the wheel back center post down without losing the center whole? I ground another set down previously and lost the hole. I want to do it this time so I can use them on late-model Revell Mustangs. Any suggestions? -
FULL BUILD REVIEW: 1/12 Revell Shelby Mustang GT500
weirich1 replied to David Thibodeau's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I was over at the local Ford dealership getting the oil changed in my F-150, walked into the showroom and in the center sits a bright red GT500 convertible. One badass car with a $60,000 price tag, of course, that's not including all the other fees. The best part was the hood was open, that engine is crammed in there; make sure you paint your valve covers bright blue, Ford Engine Light Blue specifically. -

FULL BUILD REVIEW: 1/12 Revell Shelby Mustang GT500
weirich1 replied to David Thibodeau's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Just opened mine and all I can say is it's awesome. The body is simply amazing! I can't wait to start building this beast! I haven't been this excited about building a model since I bought my first 1/48 Tamiya F-16. I did notice there could have been a few more sub-assemblies and parts molded separately, but that would push the price tag to the $100 to $200 range. I can live with a 1/12 kit that cost me $56. Already bought the Grabber Blue for the body; what can I say, I love blue 'Stangs (my '98 GT was Bright Atlantic Blue) -
Last nite 'bout 11pm picked up a Revell 1/25 '09 Challenger off ebay. On the way home from work today stopped at HobbyLobby, used the 40% off coupon, got an '08 Shelby GT500KR for $14.79

Here's the latest: chassis have been complete since January 19th. Just got the bodies taped so I can spray the yellow today; it's a warm pre-spring day in Ohio. -

A Tale of Two Corvette C6R's . . .UPDATED 3-6-09
weirich1 replied to weirich1's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Here's the update after 3 days work on the 2 C6R's: Hoods & scoops assembled then puttied seams; 3/4 of the chassis parts painted; body prepwork; stripped chrome from some parts; tires & wheels assembled (tight fit, be careful not to break a rim like I did); HVAC system made from spare parts . . . yes, this work done for both C6R's. The Revell USA instruction paint callouts are pathetic, glad I downloaded the Revell Germany C6R instructions. All that research into these 2 C6R's is paying off, the kit can be detailed quite well. -
Revell Discontinuing NASCAR Model Kits
weirich1 replied to larrygre's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks to NASCAR's greediness my DuPont COT project will be the last Revell stock car I build. Got one AMT T-bird stock car that will finally get built too. -
