  1. It's a pretty nice and easy kit. Everything fits good too. This is the one I built. The color is Model Master Laquer Nassau Blue Metallic, AKA: Corvette Blue.
  2. Welcome Nathan. I'm relatively new on the forums myself too. I've found that there are many friendly people here and plenty of subjects to participate in. Lots to learn from others too. Just ask. So, start posting, participating, and enjoying the company!
  3. Thanks Doc. This was my entry to the CGG Classic. The weathering is AK Interactive paints. Sound a little familiar?
  4. Thanks Charlie. The scripts are decals over the molded script. I kind of pressed them in and then used decal-set. I lost the decal that goes on the trunk lid when it fell out of the tweezers. So there is no photo-etch except the seat-belt buckles on the car. It wasn't a bad kit except the body had a slight tweek in it. A little super-glue took care of that during final assembly with the chassis.
  5. Thanks...the building didn't look that great from the ouside, but inside with all the timbers was awesome. Good old virgin timbers! No laminates or steel I-beams! I only have an idea and list of materials on paper at the moment. Once I get going, I'll start posting some pics. I was just so impressed with Daniel's diorama with the lighting and all. Great inspiration!
  6. I think somebody also mentioned Walmart too. Can't confirm the tires are there though.
  7. This is in an area that wasn't sand blasted yet and the timbers still have all of the glorious patina.
  8. This is on the 3rd floor and the ceiling hieght is only about 10 or 12 ft, but the timber construction is absolutely beautiful...except that all the patina was sand blasted away.
  9. After seeing Dr. Cranky's and Daniel's dioramas...now I have to build one. I especially like the funtional lighting in Daniel's. I want to build mine with similar constuction like in the picture. In the picture, those are about 30 ft timbers to the ceiling. It's an old factory that my uncle had a storage unit in. It was being converted into condo's and we had to clear out the storage. Planning on building a diorama about 1 1/2' x 3' with the timber framing and brick interior/exterior walls.
  10. The main difference is that the GTX is a "higher" trim level than the Road Runner. The best way to see the difference is google image each and check the trim on each.
  11. Thanks Jack...that's very kind! Someday I'll have a car like that again...not a convertible though.
  12. If you wait a little longer into 2012...IMC(Illinois Model Company), I think, is going to start reproducing old Johan kits. The '70 Olds 442 may be among the kits reproduced. One can only hope. I'd love to have one myself...it was a decent kit. Had one a long time ago.
  13. Agree...VERY poor attempt at a movie. What a waste of film and don't blame Burt Reynolds for not doing it. Even the second movie kind of sucked. The first one was the best of the lot and they should have left well enough alone. But despite the movie...your build looks great! Like the figure too...GO SNOWMAN!...I mean...BANDIT!
  14. Nice and clean. Have you tried decal-set to help decals "relax" around molded details? I use Walther's. I don't decal a model anymore without it.
  15. Thanks Ron! Actually I'm more of a GTO fan, but I'd take an Olds 442 if I could afford it...a real one that is. I take it you've built this kit yourself! I had to find a kit for the contest that I didn't build yet with a '70's theme and I accidently grabbed the Cutlass Supreme and not the 442. Turns out, somebody else in the contest built the 442 and our cars are almost identical...color and interior. Mine is more detailed than the other one though.
  16. Thanks Jonathan!
  17. Thanks Sam...Wanted that used, but not used up look.
  18. Thanks...yeah, I missed some details in a rush to finish this one up. But nothing that really can't be added now. Just got tired of this build after a while when a few things went wrong and wanted it done.
  19. Thanks! Thanks. Tried to follow pics of actual cars.
  20. All I want to say is...STUNNING WORK!
  21. I can see the engine and rear clip/engine cradle, but did you graft the VW and Ferrari bodies together too? If so...man it looks fantastic!
  22. After I bought that kit and got home, I realized it was a Cutlass Supreme and not a 442 which was what I was originally going for. But I kept it anyway for the contest. The "daily driver" is what I was going for with the finish. Thanks for noticing that.
  23. Thanks Kenny. That was one of the first times I've done the weathering like that.
