I'm guessing this is the Revell kit. If so...I've got a lot to look forward to. Yours turned out sweet. And your home-made parts really set things off.

Bummer...give him a call and see what's up. Then you'll know for sure and not waste anymore of your time. Maybe leave your info in case he changes his mind again. I've heard stories of people spending years to get a car that a person swears they'll never sell and then one day they get a call.

I used Plasti-cote Perfect Match GM Dark Blue Metallic. It may or may not be the exact color, but I'm fine with it.

Looking to buy? Be really cool if it's in really good condition.

I tried to get decals for mine, but nobody seems to have them. I didn't want to open the other kit, but the model wouldn't have looked complete without them.

It took me a while to get the first one. I didn't have to twist the guys arm about it. He just wanted to give it to me, but I made him take something in trade. The second kit...I stumbled upon that one by chance.

Thanks Nichole. I got to ride in that Camaro a few times. I still remember the day my friends brother picked it up and stopped by my house to show it off.

Very impressive on the details and weathering. I'm liking it.

Went to Michael's, don't really buy models there, but had a 40% off coupon. Got the Revell Street Burner '79 Camaro Z28 3'n 1 kit on clearance and the Revell Special Edition '49 Mercury kit. Even got another 40% off coupon on the receipt. At least there's a few more kits there I wouldn't mind getting.

Thanks guys for the compliments.

Besides this posted build, I've seen one other. I'm exremely impressed with both builds. Would I want to try building one? Absolutely not. I may have a lot of patience when building, but these type of paper models to me need extreme patience and I don't think I have that. I'll stick to plastic kits.

STUNNING....don't know where to start with the compliments. Congrat's on everything. Looks as if you could hop right in, start it up and GO!

Opinions Please
The70judgeman replied to FASTBACK340's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I didn't have an interest for the show at all. So I haven't seen it. As far as recreating that infamous car chase...think they should have left it alone, but I'll have to see it and how they did. Might have to watch that episode, but more than likely...I'll forget to. The whole concept of the show seems kind of hokey to me anyway. -
I met Arnie "The Farmer" Beswick a couple of times. Once before and once after his accident. Have a pic, not digital, of him with the car that blew-up and his autograph. Met R. Lee Ermy...have his autugraph. Paul Lemat's (aka "Milner")autograph. And finally, I met Cindy Williams...well...actually she almost fell on me when she tripped going over a rope that was around a displayed car at World Of Wheels. No autograph...just a smile and a thank you for helping her.

Bonding time
The70judgeman replied to Tye Brown's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Kind of reminds me of when I was a kid. My dad and I would be at the diningroom table building models together. He stopped building after some time, but I had already caught the model building bug, or as Dr. Cranky would say..."the styrene addiction". He passed away in January and I recently bought a kit that he always wanted me to build for him. AMT's 1950 Chevrolet 3100. It's the vehicle he learned how to drive in on a farm he worked at when he was growing up. I never got around to building it for him, so in the near future I'll get it in the line-up to build in his memory. I always cherished those times building with my dad and it really sounds like you do too Tye. -
I bought my first airbrush as a package...single action airbrush, hose, and compressor. I tried it a few times, but quickly found out that you spend more time setting up and cleaning than actually getting anything else done. I recently bought a new double action airbrush and I use that more than I ever used the single, but...still, all major painting is still out of a can. The airbrush is mainly used for metalizers, because the paint looks better and more realistic than brushed. I aquired yet another airbrush after my dad passed away a few months ago. He never used it and it's still brand new in the box. That makes three. Maybe in the future I'll airbrush more models, especially if I try graphics. We'll see.

Thanks Lawrence. No...the other kit will stay in what I refer to as "the vault". All the kits I plan on keeping wrapped and put away. Wish I didn't have to raid the other Camaro kit though. I try to get doubles of some kits...one to build and one to keep. My plan eventually is to display a finished model with the same unopened kit.

When I was 12 yrs. old in 1982, my best friend's brother pre-ordered a brand new Camaro Z28 based on just a preview article in a car magazine. We both, at the time, thought it was the greatest car around. It was ordered with just about every option available. My friend and I each bought the Revell kit when it came out. No painting...just assembled them. Well...like many kits built by kids, it ended up as a bb gun target. The only things left of that kit are the actual tires on this kit. I did a trade with a guy in Florida, minus the tires and decals. Soon after, I found a boxed kit still wrapped. Unfortunately, I had to raid that kit for the decals on this finished kit. So now I have a built kit +1(boxed) from my youth. I built this kit as close to my friends brothers car, except for the T-tops. It is the same color too.

No criticism from me. Only a compliment on a job well done. Nice and clean.

Those are the 8-lug rims...a Pontiac exclusive. The outer rim held the tire and bolted to the inner part which was also the brake drum.

Let's Reveal Our Worst Build's
The70judgeman replied to modelmike's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Same here...but, also were "targets" for bb/pellet guns. -
how much research do you do?
The70judgeman replied to 62rebel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have lots of reference material in my own little library besides the computer searches. I have amassed quite a collection of magazines, lots of car books, and pictures I've taken at car shows over the years...before there was really an internet. The pictures I take are mostly different angles of a car, close-ups under the hood, and unique details. I have very few digital pics compared to 35mm pics in an album or two. -
History of Monogram's Squarebody GM Pickups
The70judgeman replied to Fabrux's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I'd just like to see more '70's trucks...when trucks were trucks...solid axle 4x4's and no frills. I'm definately getting a couple of the GMC P/U w/plow kits when they come out.
