Very nice looking model and an interesting subject. Kind of looks like Renault's attempt at a "better Beatle".

Started the '49 Merc recently with a name in mind, but wasn't thinking of Vegas at the time..."The Gambler". It'll have a green and gold theme to it. Kind of on hold at the moment till I find the rims/tires I'm looking for. I know I have them in a storage box somewhere...just need to find them and get going on the build.

I think it boils down to part of what Ed was saying...opinion polls, optional parts, etc. What do the people in the hobby really want and want to see in the products being released. Not what they think we all want. It seems we start with a kit and end up "correcting" or customizing a model anyway. Of course, prices will reflect the effort put into producing a kit. The Japanese seem to have a better grasp of fit and finish...they are re-releasing some new "corrected" or updated kits...Tamiya especially. One for instance is a completely new kit based off an old kit of a WWII Japanese battleship that is updated, improved, and corrected to be much more accurate. I know most of us build cars or trucks, but that is just an example. I think they are just taking the lead on this on their own to produce a better product. Kudo's to them in my book.

New redesigned Viper is here
The70judgeman replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
From what I've heard and read the Dodge brand was split into 3 divisions. Each are their own entity so to speak. SRT is the performance, RAM is the trucks(regular and commercial), and Dodge is just regular cars and they lost the mini-van(Caravan) to a Chrysler(Town and Country) product only. -
Slick top CHiP's...eh. Lindberg model? I have the "blank" version of that kit with the 8 lightbar options.

Actually, there is...I've seen one on ebay once and it was pretty expensive and very rare. I don't need the flak for saying there is or isn't. I've seen it and just saying what I saw.

Thanks Bruce. Was looking to do a color other than black, red, or blue. @David-I've still seen this model as well as the Grand Prix from time to time. For $7...I didn't hesitate on buying it.

Just a little update. Not a whole lot of progress. Got the body/hood painted, cleared, and applied BMF. Still need to do a little trip painting. The color is Rust-Oleum Paint Plus 2X Ultra Cover Satin Lemon Grass. It went on very well and then on the second coat of clear I got a couple of boogers in there. Wet sanded the body down, more paint and clear. Be working on the interior next with pictures to follow.

Are you happy now Joe? I took the liberty of removing my oh so offensive and "uninformed" posts for you. Now you can live in peace and remain the master of evrything NASCAR related. By the way, I still haven't found your "Everything you should know about NASCAR and you need to ask me first before you post" thread. And you thought I may have been offensive and unprofessional in your eyes? Way to bring in a race/nationality card into the mix. Being part German...now I'm offended. Would expect better from someone claiming to be professional. Also to Jacen and Robert...my comments were not meant to be condescending and "everyone should know this" either. Apparently Joe is the know-it-all. Misunderstanding on your part.

Came out cool and understated. Like the personalized license plates too.

Picked up Revell's '68 Charger R/T "Special Edition" kit for 50% off with coupon at Michael's for $14.00. Also got some clear casting resin and catalist. Want to try some parts casting since I've never tried it before. If all works well, I'll get more and different resin(s) and start casting more parts I wish I had more of for other projects.

Not car or model related, but I'm on the second to last Dr. Cross series book by James Patterson. My favorite series. One more book to go and I'm caught up and then have to wait for the new book to come out whenever it does.

Very hard to come by and IF you happen to find one...be prepared to pay some bucks for it. I have one that I just dug out and stripped. The decals may not be any good either, but I still have the driver figure dressed as a tiger. And NO I'm not going to sell or trade it. The instruction sheet should be the same as any other '66 GTO by Revell...except for the decal placement.

Hey Jesse- No I'm not part of the club...although I've thought about seeing what they're all about. The Cat I'm working on I got at that Christmas sale years ago. My wife and I both went this past year. Think I dropped about $150 that day. Anyway...I just got done painting the car body and hood today, so no update pics yet. I found a pretty close match and I'm pretty happy with it. Going to do a little more work on it Sunday and I'll get new pics posted.

G'day From Australia

Welcome to the forum Sean. There's plenty to talk about here and people with knowledge to talk to as well. Great tips, help, and lots of show and tell. -
Facebook affects
The70judgeman replied to The Modeling Hermit's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I still have a fb account, but you'll find nothing about me on there. Deleted everything...pictures, info... I only check in there maybe once or twice a day. I have a youtube channel also, but I have found that I'm not making videos to post there since the "free" video editor I was using isn't free anymore since all the monitization of videos. I haven't seen a cent of that either. I'll have to figure out how to use the video program on my computer now that I found it. I also set up an account on another model forum...talk about BORING!! Nobody communicates on there and I need to cancel my account. I spend most of my computer time right here. I've learned a few things and people actually talk with one another here. -
No pic and dropped off yesterday morning...a So Real 1/24 die cast limited edition yellow Blazer (brand new) and Revell 1/16 '34 Ford Coupe Street Rod (opened but not started). Got both from ebay for pretty cheap.

I'm not the biggest Ferrari fan, but you hit this one out of the park. -
Cracked/checked paint, chipped decals, dust...it's patina. Like a barn find!

Real or Model #188 FINISHED!
The70judgeman replied to Harry P.'s topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
I'm gonna say real model. Thinking it's a life-size model/mock-up.
