  1. Looks like it'd be a terror out on the stoplight to stoplight circut.
  2. Turned out great lookng. Nice license plate too.
  3. So, in other words...don't eat it.
  4. Picked up the Revell Lamborghini Countach LP500. Two bottles of Testor's/Boyd's Orange Pearl and Tamiya Clear Orange spray. The tires in the kit, well I can't say what I'd like, but they're terrible. They're cheap and look undersized. So, I need to find some better ones. Rims too probably.
  5. "USA 1" was a saying Chevrolet used years ago if I'm not mistaken. Maybe they're bringing it back?
  6. Could leave it the way it is and call it "Blue Suede"....maybe?
  7. Lookin great...simple and to the point. Sometimes less is more.
  8. Yes...Shabo does. They have Goodyear (older styles and newer NASCAR yellow lettering), Firestone, and I think Bridgestone. Also some whitewall styles...I think...maybe? I could be wrong. Just checked Model Empire. Page 56 in their online catalog has the full list (most likely) of Shabo's products.
  9. Sounds more like careless people not putting the kit back where they got it off the shelf. Was at the local Michael's last week and the models looked like a tornado hit that section of the store, but found a '70 Chevelle to use my coupon on.
  10. That was only for the opening run. After that you could get any color offered.
  11. I'm guessing you're using a rattle can. Have you tried Dupli-Color Perfect Match from the auto parts stores? It's not enamel, but you might get a closer match to what you're looking for. Look for a GM/Chevy Dover White (same color for 1969 Pontiac Cameo White).
  12. Snipe or BIN if reasonable. I have noticed though...sometimes a seller may have identical kits, both BIN for different prices. I did manage to get 3 kits in a row (sniping) within minutes of each other from the same seller once. 2 vintage Blazers and a Jimmy for very reasonable...less than the price some sellers are selling 1 of those kits for (all 3 and shipping).
  13. This is a bunch of stuff I got over the last week or two. The first two are a couple of vintage magazine ads from a garage sale. First one is for the 1967 GTO and the second is for the Hurst Dual-gate (his and hers) shifter. These are some kits I got. My wife got me the 612 at a thrift store for a couple bucks. It's started/painted, but it'll be stripped and I'll start it over. The rest are kits I got off of ebay. And finally, I was due for a new phone, so I picked up the new EVO 4G LTE. Many more features than the first EVO.
  14. Nice job...I've got this kit in the works about 1/2 done right now. Gotta love those Tamiya kits.
  15. It wasn't a local contest, say at a hobby store or like NNL(?). It was a contest on youtube and and imo it was rigged for 1st and 2nd, based on the particular winners. 3rd was a nearly identical model as mine, in the same class, that deviated from the rules. So, hopefully you can understand my point then. I've won some plaques and a ribbons in the past. So, no I'm not expecting to win something everytime.
  16. I built a model for a contest last year that, I guess you could say...I went all out on. It was the first time trying many things....BMF, modifying, minor weathering, and a few other things. I did add up all the "extras" for that one build and it came in at about $90...the kit, BMF, aluminum parts, paint, soldering wire, wheels and tires, distributer/plug wire set, photo etch, ribbon(for seat belts), and weathering paints. All of that, not including my time into building the model. At least I can use most of the stuff I bought for numerous builds. In the end though, I got nothing for my efforts, but a nice model...IMO. That's the last time I do something like that again. No more contests for me...just build for fun and the enjoyment of building. Contests just take the fun out of it...and it also costs too much.
  17. As far as the brass tubing you want...start by looking at any stickers or packaging for a website to go to and see if they have an online service. One of the hobby stores here gets their metal stock, aluminum and brass, from K&S Engineering out of Chicago.
  18. @Jacen- Yes...you're right, that was what I meant. And, while I'm here typing again, it may have sounded like there are rules to building a model by what I said. By no means am I saying it's mandatory for all of the prep work. It's a learned process and any model can benifit from a little prep work and achieve better results.
  19. I'll go along with that too. Nothing detracts more from a well built and painted model than simply "cleaning up" a kit before anything. Most of us are going for building a kit with the final result to look 1:1, or as close as possible. Mold lines (parting lines) and sprue nubs NEED to be removed. Another one is sink holes...fill them in. It's all about preparation. A pain in the you know what, but the results will speak for themselves.
  20. None that I've seen. All the Challenger kits come with the Chrysler Ralleye Rims as far as I know. There are a few other kits you can source them from like the Revell '68 Charger (1/25th scale), or from various resin casters. Someone on here can steer you in the right direction for them. I haven't started casting yet, but am planning on it in the near future...casting parts not included in kits that I want more of. I'd like to see more steel rims with dog dish/poverty caps myself which I'm going to cast first. I really like the "sleeper" look. *Check Missing Link. They're a resin caster. They've got tons of resin wheels and hubcaps. Saw a set of their Dodge dog dish caps on ebay, but they have a website too.
  21. You can try Shabo Ultimate Tire Graphics dry transfers available through Model Empire (modelempireusa.com). They have Goodyear (in white and NASCAR Yellow), Firestone, and Hoosier. However...they run $10-$12 + shipping.
  22. Now that's impressive work. Can't wait to see the final result.
  23. Found one on ebay located in Greece for $290 (US) + $35 Shipping . He says it's brand new, but...... Now that's crazy!
  24. That turned out sweet. I've thought about getting that kit. Guessing it went together pretty well like Tamiya kits always do.
