I've done a bunch. Not to take a break from regular kits...just something that was interesting. Yeah, they're quick builds, but not the point of building it. Built a '66 GTO, '50 something Cadillac, the new Challenger, the Police Charger, the Hot Wheels Pantera GTS(1/18th scale) just to name some.

@Chris- I think I'll have to take the tape in to a local camera shop and have them transfer my footage onto disc and then I can dump it into my laptop and then post it. I'll edit it down a bit, so it isn't so boring as it's around 15 minutes long. So, have patience and stay tuned I guess. -
I never did complete that project, so no pic to show you, but I felt the same way about the trailer on a p/u. That's why I bought the Ford die-cast too.

I've got one of those...and the Galaxie trailer years ago. Had the same idea. Wanted to replicate, at least the trailer, of a former co-workers race team hauler.

I can try, but it's on vhs-c tape. It was taped with an older camera, and I don't think I have the cables or whatever I'd need. Suppose I could play it on the TV and rerecord it with my digital camcorder and then load it, edit, and post it. In all actuality the engine sounds aren't that impressive as both planes were coming in for landing and the throttles were back and props somewhat feathered. But, some of the inside video is pretty cool. I'll see what I can do...if it works I'll post it here on this thread. Man...talking about this makes me want to definately go to EAA next summer. Haven't been up there since '89. Oh yeah...you are correct about the tail damage. Some B-17's came back so damaged, not just tails, it was a mystery how it stayed flying in the first place and still made it back. Good old Boeing construction I guess. Amazing stuff. -

Although not an accurate representation at all...lots of theatrical license was used, it's a pretty cool movie anyway. That plane was here in the Milwaukee area a number of years ago for the first annual air and water show down at the lake front. It was kept out in Waukesha's airport...Krites Field. The bonus there was the B-17 "Fuddy Duddy" was there also selling rides to generate maintanance funds. Was great to see two B-17's parked next to one another. Got some video of both coming in for the for the final landings of the day and video inside Fuddy Duddy too. -
The engine is wrong in the kit. That particular show has aired a few times in the past few weeks. The real car has a LS Chevy engine swapped into it. Seems Revell put little effort into this kit by just combining existing tools and a new decal sheet to make a "new" kit. Save your money...Revell did. Might be the same deal with the other Foose kit coming out later this year.

Revell / Monogram '32 ford kits
The70judgeman replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Of the choices, I personally prefer 3 window, especially with a chop. However, I don't mind the 5 window's, or Vicky's. And NO FENDERS. Roadsters/convertibles are not on my list for anything. Never really cared for them. -
Contact Trumpeter about it. Double check the kit and make sure that's all that is missing before you ask. After, if they agree to replace a part(s), any other parts usually will cost you. Companies will usually, and should, stand by their product and "make it right" if it's imperfect.

Dupont Clear Coat
The70judgeman replied to hooterville75's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
"I already know where he gets it which isnt an available resource for me lol. He has a friend that works at Dupont." @Darren: Got ya...was just a thought. The website that Bill posted above is what I found too. A little pricey, but If memory serves, it's a 6 pack case of 22+oz rattle cans. It better be good stuff for that price! Good luck. -

You could just PM Dr. Cranky and ask where he buys from. He's pretty open as far as that. I'm sure he'd tell you. -
Not the biggest Camaro fan, but you say flawed....I say WOW. Looks pretty clean to me.
-
I've got one too. Love it.
-
Thanks. I know what you mean about the red. The hood top, which I left off, is also red which I omitted. It was too much. It looks better without it anyway and the engine exposed.

Since I got mine I've been doing a lot more airbrushing. My second airbrush...first double action. I've had zero problems with mine.

Thanks again guys.

They're painted on...a couple of layers. And then clear coated with a matte clear.
-
Thanks guys. A little on the paint scheme...originally I was going for a WWII aircraft theme, but gave up after not being able to find the decals I know I have somewhere. Was going to be called the "Flying Tiger" based on the P-40 Warhawk(see the pictures). Got the car all painted before I looked for the decals, couldn't find them, and just finished the model. Calling it done obviously.

Thanks. Photo Bucket was giving me a little trouble.

Revell '32 Ford Sedan. Kept it pretty simple. No wires or after market stuff. Only parts out of the box. Paints; Body: Model Master Olive Drab Grille and interior: Floquil Caboose Red Wheels and engine: Rust-Oleum Bright Red Frame and trim: Floquil Engine Black Cleared with Model Master Semi-Gloss White Walls hand painted: Floquil Reefer White and cleared with Model Master Matte Clear Can't get a decent picture of it, but the shifter is a bent white topped "Bridal" pin and shifter boot is glue and paint formed paper towel.

I've done some of those. The Corsair, P-51, and a couple P-47's...one for a former co-worker that gave it to a pilot friend of his as a gift. They're fun little side projects.

Was This ever Produced
The70judgeman replied to Dave Wood's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Definately not made. It's like Revell's "California Wheels" Chevelle SS Wagon kit...never produced as a real car, but kind of cool. Kind of like the GTO wagons you see time to time. All "what if" cars. -
Thanks guys. Call it $33... I'd pay that off the shelf...$45-$50+ with or without shipping...no. Just too steep for a 1/24 kit...even for a Tamiya.
-
Just out of curiousity, did you buy yours from HLJ? $32+ for the kit, but how much is the shipping. I've never bought anything from them before. One of my LHS's has both, the Tamiya Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ, for a list price of $70+ea, but their price at $51 and change ea. A little bit of sticker shock at either price.
