I saw a commercial on TV for a 1/8th scale McLaren MP4-23 Grand Prix race car model. What you do is sign up for 12 monthly stages of the model. For $99.95 + $19.95s&h...ha ha...a month...you get 1 stage, their wording, with instructions to complete part of the car. It looks like a pretty cool looking model, but $1438.80 for a kit will definately prevent me from participating. At least check it out through the link below. www.model-space.com I didn't go through the whole site, but there looks like there are other models on there too.

Gotta love a wife that is always on the look out. She picked up the display case on Tuesday for me while shopping with her daughter at a thrift store. Check out the price on that. And it was complete. That's a recent build to show it off a little. Also, my package from Joseph came today. Awesome looking tires! Thank you Joseph! And last, my step-daughter bought the book for me.Sorry about the picture order being backwards.

Model Cars Magazine Dealers
The70judgeman replied to Gregg's topic in Links to Aftermarket Suppliers
Greenfield News and Hobby in Greenfield, WI and Model Empire in West Allis(or "Stallis" as we locals call it), WI...they also keep back issues on the rack. I've seen a few at least a year or more old. -
Name those plates!

Yeah...you got it. 1st one is Squad 51 and the other is Engine 51. -
Basically yes. Tampo and pad printing is pretty much the same. On the box it says "pad printed" tires though.

Whats a promo kit?
The70judgeman replied to blackace183's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think what makes most of the older promos worth so much money is that a lot of them ended up being given to kids and eventually they...well you know what kids do. So the older surviving promos command much more. Sometimes hundreds of dollars. They were practically given out much like walking into a dealership and grabbing a brochure. -
I'm not an expert on tire sizing, but I would have to say yes in a nut shell. From what I've read, the old system was based on aspect ratio while the new system is based more on load capacity if that's any help. But anyway, from a conversion chart a G60-15 is a 7.10-15 in the old system and P245/60R15 in the current system.
-
Looking it up and according to one particular site dedicated to the '69 Hurst/Olds...the correct tire is G60-15 on a special 15x7 rim.

New 1:1 Hot Wheels Camaro
The70judgeman replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No thank you. -
No laughing here...I like it a lot. Looks pretty dang good for a quick build.

They're still out there, but usually it's the same story every time...."Sorry, not for sale. I'm gonna restore it someday." 99.9% of the time...don't believe them. It'll sit there and rot away.

Went to the Toy & Model Show at Serb Hall in Milwaukee. Also met up with Casey and did a trade...for the bag of WW Tires and some rims. Thank you Casey. At the show I bought a 1/18th 1936 Pontiac Deluxe Coupe, 1/25th Pontiac 25th Anniverary T/A kit, Dale and Dale Jr. Coca-Cola die-casts in the somewhat obscure 1/43rd scale...I have a few others already. I also got a Hot Wheels Military Rides '69 GTO, a '72 Hurst SSJ Grand Prix and Fire Injun T/A by Johnny Lightning, a Greenlight Hot Persuit Series 2011 Crown Vic Milwaukee PD in the new black and white paint scheme, and finally a set of Pegasus 23" rims and tire set.

Dual-gate shifter/TH400 only. It looks to be in 3 pieces. The console, chrome shift gate, and chrome shifter. The Revell '72 Cutlass/442 gives you the option.
-
It looks to be just that 1 tire. The other 3 look pretty good, although there is a slight parting line in the middle. Nothing that some light sanding on the tread can't take care of. Other than that, they look pretty good. Especially with the tighter tread pattern.

Didn't take any pics of the actual kit parts, but besides the new tires, the kit is a clean repop of the old one...minimal flash. Also included in the kit is a paper board sheet of a mini-box of the kit to cut out and assemble, and a Hurst sticker.
-
Just picked up the '69 Hurst today...here's a couple of pics of the tires from the kit.
-
Got the '66 last week from Micheal's with a 40% off coupon....$13 and change. Got 2, only showed 1, of the '69 Hurst's from Model Empire today, and a Tamiya Pure White rattle can of paint...for the '69.

What Revell should put out as Kits...
The70judgeman replied to TheCat's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I know everyone has their own personal "what I want", so I might as well throw mine in the mix too. It's my personal favorite and dream car...the 1970 GTO The Judge with the Ram Air IV 400. Like my avitar pic to the left. I'd like to see the level of detail that was put into the '72 Cutlass/442, but not as a convertible. I know there was a '70 GTO done by MPC years ago, but that was a terrible kit. I even got a resin trans kit, was cast from the MPC body, but it got crushed and using a '72 GTO as a donor kit...well I might as well buy the cruddy MPC kit. No thanks. Unfortunately, there probably wouldn't be a real high demand for it, but I'd buy plenty of them and build 1 in each available color. -
THE "ROY MUNSON" 72 OLDSMOBILE CONVERTIBLE
The70judgeman replied to bryan_m's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Not to put more on your plate, but have you considered doing a build of the "Munson Mobile" when he won the car? Kind of a before and after thing. -
I'm in Milwaukee...for now. My wife and I are planning on buying a house within the next year. Gonna miss my frequent trips to 2 major hobby stores within 2 miles of where I'm at now.

Postal Jeep...
The70judgeman replied to Brizio's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I'll have to look up the WIP on this one, but I have to say it looks awesome and very nostalgic. Love the bin with the letters to be delivered and all the rest of the detailing. Fantastic!
