Welcome to the forum Scott. Where about are you? I'm familiar with and hunt up in the Eagle River, Rhinelander, Minocqua/St. Germain area. Plus, I have a cabin up there.

Nothing model related. Spent yesterday afternoon with my wife and stepdaughter downtown at the auto show. Picked up some light reading and thinking to do with the hopes of figuring out what I'd like to possibly purchase later sometime this year. What to do, what to do.

Start saving your pennies!

Here's the very last documented production Hemi 'Cuda. It was on the auction circuit for almost a year and the owner finally relented and let it go on Mecum...2nd showing. Don't remember exactly what the selling price was, but it was nowhere near what the first is projected to go for...maybe near a quarter of the price. -
At the post office counter. They're $9.20 for the sheet. You could just buy a row, but there is a little info on each car on the back of the sheet. That's why I bought the whole sheet.

AMT M&H Racemaster Dragster Slicks & Parts Pack Tires
The70judgeman replied to Gregg's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Saw them at the hobby store a few days ago. They're for "Sportsman" class race cars. -
Dr. Cranky started a thread on these a month or so ago, and they finally came out yesterday, so I picked up a set. Now I just need to make a run to Michael's for a frame to preserve them...and to hang in the man cave with the other car art.

Nascar, ya like the new car?

Nascar, ya like the new car?
The70judgeman replied to rel14's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's a start. I don't care for any of current cars as a street car, but at least you can tell what brand car is what now just from looking at it. I think that was one of the major complaints from the manufacturer's with the COT...same car for everyone with only stickers and an engine to make them different. There was no brand recognition. Although, after watching practice runs and speeds/times today, I can hear Ford and Toyota complaining already that Chevy has some sort of aero advantage and NASCAR needs to do something to equal the cars. Sounds like something from the past all over again. -

I think they all are and random copies by Eyegore too...his paw print. I've got mine ordered. -
My Own Hobby Shop
The70judgeman replied to Mercman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I agree...it's owned and run by a multi-generational family. They're great people. Also, Walthers is a Milwaukee based model train company, so it kind of fits. -

The main inside picture of the store and the 2 employee graphics pictures are from Model Empire in West Allis, WI. The hobby store I frequent the most. -
When online, besides being on here, I'm looking for deals on models on ebay mostly. Yesterday, I just got three open, but complete kits for $9.99+ shipping...less than $20 shipped. Craigslist around here for me has been nothing but a bust. Of the few I've contacted never got back to me, so I don't think they were serious about selling and I've given up on it all together. Also, besides the books I have, I look for reference pics for a particular build I'm working on, or for some inspiration and ideas.

Fantastic build! Great color too...nice and smooth. Photographed in the right way, it could pass as the real deal.

No.2 off the bench 1971 Plymouth Roadrunner 1/24 scale monogram kit
The70judgeman replied to robo37's topic in Model Cars
Looks great! I like the steelies and dog dish caps better than the rallye rims. Makes those MOPAR's look more sinister. -
Again...beautiful build on the T/A. Love the red color on the Vette too. Great stuff! Thanks for sharing!
-
Beautiful T/A...that one has been on my short list of kits to get. Also, like it's been asked...more pics please.

"The Gibson Bone" CROSSROADS BLUES '32 (Stacey David's Rat Roaster)

Now that is sweet! Love the weathering...really sets it off. If it were the real deal...I'd bet Billy would be proud to drive that one! -
Where do you get your magazines ?
The70judgeman replied to Greg Myers's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Ditto. GN&H is only 2 miles away...sorry Nick. -
It sure did have the spears, or whatever you want to call them on the fenders. I built this model a few years ago, but I'm not going to take over your post and post a pic of mine. I think you did a great job on yours! The interior looks great from what I can see. And, yes the rear suspension was a bear to work on...especially to get everything to line up and sit right. Notice in the picture....the rear part of the hood is canted up.

You got it right...date, time, location. I just picked up the flyer from Model Empire. If anyone is interested, the theme for this year is ATF(alcohol, tobacco, & firearms). Models such as race cars with a sponsor like Miller Beer/Jack Daniel's or cigarettes/chew, Or like Remington Firearms. And, then the sub theme: 60 years of the Corvette.
