Oh, and a huge thank you for running this and for entering whether you rolled up to the start line or not.

How about a japanese run? Skylines, turbo rotary Mazdas, VIP saloons, crazy vans, pain cars, cyber formula racers... It'd be nice to vote for more than one but FWIW I vote unlimited as I have a plan involving 4wd, fat rubber, GPS, leather seats & cruise control.

Au contraire Adam. Mufflers are very important if you want to be able to roll past a cop at tickover without attracting attention. Anyway, I think 79 is too close to 82. My vote would be for unlimited or muscle cars. I must admit that having done it in a succession of vehicles where performance over-ruled comfort I would like to build something big, soft & fast for a change. Beemer, merc or big jap luxo barge maybe. Anyway. i'm off to vote.

AMT Ecto 1A to be re-released?
zenrat replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The "glass" is very thick and has a horizontal strip moulded into the side & rear windows (representing the strip of tint they fitted to ambulances). A lot of shaving & filling is required to remove the mountings for the ghostbusting gear. It won't fit straight onto a Revellogram '59 Caddy chassis either. Good luck. -
ROCKET VAN! Deals Wheels Flying Van.

Brilliant! Cracking build. -
Mrs z's Uncle lived up in the Adelaide Hills and had a homebuilt garden tractor to haul his gardening tools and supplies up and down the large & very steep backyard. I've got no pics but it was 50's Morris saloon based with most of the bodywork removed and 2 gearboxes in order to drop the ratios down low enough so it could climb the paths from the bottom of the garden back up to the garage.

Thanks Slant & thanks to all you who entered whether you made it to the start line or not. Now, next year. Anything goes or another age restriction? I must admit having to work to a specific set of requirements does focus the mind wonderfully.

Thanks for all the nice words. Derick - sounds like a Revell '64 fleetside would be a good starting point.

Thanks folks.

Thanks folks. Spot on Andy, it's one of my favourites also.

Good to roll up to the start line for another chance to motor West. This year i'll be getting my kicks in a 1960 Chevrolet Panel Delivery - something unassuming that will blend in with traffic. However, seeing as this IS a race the stock six banger just wouldn't have cut it so Javelin Engineering dropped in a blueprinted tripower 421 Pontiac (the planned blower was dropped on grounds of fuel economy and doubts about reliability at sustained high rpm). Given that we will be running on real roads and not a race track suspension is stock apart from uprated torsion bars, springs & shocks and I am confident that corners shouldn't slow me down. Internally the only change from stock is an increased capacity fuel tank and the addition of a rack in the rear load area carrying an additional 3 spare wheels (again - real roads not race tracks). So that's me. Hope you like it. To my competition, i'll see you on the road... This build is based on the AMT '60 Chevrolet Pickup. I used a combination of the stock kit and the custom kit and built the rear body up from the bed sides using styrene sheet & rod. The roof was built from 2 stock pick up cab roofs plus sheet and filler - lots of filler To ease the blending of the cab to the bed I removed the rear section of the cab whic in turn meant cutting a chink out of the chassis to get everything to fit back together. Wheels are Astros from the AMT '60 'vette and engine is a Revell Parts Pack item. Paint is Zero Paints Pearl White & Pearl Blue and decals are home made. Any questions or comments, post em up.

Hey ARC, she looks very nasty. Good job.

Close Mike, it's actually a week last thursday. Finished. See you at the start line boys & girls...

I was going to procrastinate but I got distracted... Shame to lose you from the race Jant. But there's always next year. No more pics now from me until it's finished. Shouldn't be long as i've got the body on the chassis and it's just detail work left plus attaching all those last minute bits like radiator, tailgate, bumpers etc
-
Jant, just don't photograph that side and we'll never know... As we seemed to be having an eyeball theme I added one. Paint is on and awaiting clear - I tried to err on the subtle side. and the chassis is rolling. i'm now working on the final details including the exhaust ( a glasspack for each side - can't be too loud as we don't want to attract undue attention), 3 more spare wheels on a stand and all the tools etc that also might be needed. See you on the road boys...

The early Hemi in the AMT '57 300 is a lovely piece of work and you've done it justice there. I'm ready for paint on the panel delivery - No more scratch building apart from a fuel tank (probably should have one of them!), exhaust system and all the ###### that will be bouncing around in the back. I'm thinking silver & blue (although I am tempted by a jar of hemi orange) and have been designing some decals for the sides. Oh, and the styrene gods were not smiling on me. I knew the parts from The Modelhaus were for the old SMP(?) '60 pick up but I hoped that they would be a close enough fit to be useable. No. "Glass" wasn't even close and the grille would have needed a hell of a lot of grinding to sit right. Oh well, a split windscreen doesn't look too bad (to hide the crack) and I can use the custom grille from the kit. I haven't touched this for 4 weeks due to having my folks visit but after we wave them off tomorrow i'll be right back into it.

The 5 window loses out to the sedan just. And then only because of the headers on the "hemi". No one standing up for the Speedwagon then? -
I got these out of the AMT Double Dragster tin (plus a few additional parts).

Mrs z's cousin's bloke has a '35 Phaeton, a coupe & a rolling chassis. Pics here http://s70.photobucket.com/albums/i82/gavinmaillardet/35%20Ford%20Phaetons/ Feel free to use anything you want.

Jim Goose Kawasaki kz-1000 resin kit?
zenrat replied to Austin T's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
That's a pretty good start. Side panels and tank are more correct. Those 5 or 7 spoke wheels? -
Good job on a tricky kit Danny. Which parts were warped on your one?
