  1. As John & Paul (and I suspect Mary Jane) said I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
  2. I took some pics last night. And then decided to upgrade my operating system so they are still on the camera at home (i'm at "work"). However, i've shortened the chassis to fit the abbreviated body, got a long way into the engine and have reached the part of the bodywork I wasn't looking forward to - lengthening the roof.
  3. Donk Rat - love it but it should be higher. Do what you want. Stuff what other people think - they are usually wrong.
  4. And just to add to the confusion you have the manufacturers habit of changing whiat parts they include when they re-pop kits.
  5. Speed Duel by Sam Hawley. The story of the rivalry between the Arfons and Craig Breedlove. A cracking read about the days when you could still knock up a land speed car in your shed from used parts. and for research I'm always going back to Gasser Wars by Larry Davis.
  6. How about trying to expand the consumer base? And when you Americans are done complaining about the price of kits, please remember that down here we're paying (on average - for Revell/AMT new releases), $40 a kit from a hobby shop - if you can find one. Still a cheap hobby though.
  7. A Ross Gibson Engine is a kit in it's own right but bear in mind the cost - for that you could get a complete kit to rob the engine from. Also, if you are getting the latest issue of the Starliner then it comes with 2 complete engines. You can cut roofs of, and bodywork up, with your hobby knife but i'd be investing in a razor saw if I were you. Either a complete stand alone saw or you can get saw blades which fit into an exacto knife handle. I prefer the stand alone as it has a rigid blade making straight cuts easier.
  8. Thanks folks
  9. I think it depends on what your reply is. Asking for an update is one thing. Replying as though it's just a current thread is another. At least give a clue that you realise how old the thread is.
  10. Engine certainly looks like an early pre-unit Bonneville but they didn't have rigid frames (which the kit does have). Also, the headlamp was, from the factory, hosed in a nacelle (like the orange & grey bike) although this was commonly removed (like on the blue bike) as a day 2 mod. The kit has no nacelle. It's a hotch potch really. I think it was probably designed by someone who had Triumphs availible to look at but wasn't really into bikes This one I built "box" stock. The next one i'll be chopping.
  11. Were. Once. I'd be getting some protection if I were you. There is an app availible from The App Store called cartoonizer that does this. It's cheap (or maybe free - can't remember) and keeps all the files on your mac so no worries about allowing connections to your computer. Or, build them like cartoons in the first place...
  12. I must have got a good one - only had to straighten the body & the tailgate.
  13. Thanks folks
  14. Crazy fool...
  15. Gorgeous paint - makes me want to lick it...
  16. As it appears to be Monaco week Here's a shopping car I put together. Just something to pop down to the grocery store...

    Dodge Monaco

    Nice.
  18. Great pics JB. The orange & grey Bonnie (gorgeous) and the last, blue one are closest to what the model is trying to represent enginewise. The rest are all unit construction with the engine & gearbox built as one piece (post 1963). I speak from experience when it comes to Lucas electrics - I learned to ride on a '51 BSA and have had British bikes ever since. Best way to make a real (ie pre Hinkley) Triumph reliable is to throw away all the original ignition system and replace it with a Boyer electronic ignition (and even then carry a spare black box for when the vibration kills the first one!). Vibration was also what usually knocked the lights out - so spare globes were a must along with cobbled together rubber mounting. Lucas equipment in cars probably fared slightly better than that on bikes as it was indoors and so not subject to being bathed in water & oil. I once had a 250 Triumph single where the designer had placed the electrical box directly beneath the oil filler cap - any spilt oil filled the box before draiing onto the exhaust pipe. Mind you, oil leaks meant that you knew when to top up the oil (when it stopped dripping) and prevented the frame from rusting out (unlike a Honda I once owned). Of the bikes pictured, it looks like only the one with the girl on it has any oil in it BTW
  19. There's a rules page?
  20. As far as accuracy goes the Parts Pack Triumph is a bit of a mongrel in as much as it doesn't appear to be any model in particular. However, it's got a rigid frame and is pre-unit construction (separate engine & gearbox) and so could have had a (Joe) Lucas (Prince of Darkness) Magdyno (magneto & dynamo combined) meaning no ignition coils required (just crossed fingers and daylight!) and plug leads going roughly where Tim put them. Even with coil ignition you could claim that the coils are mounted somewhere behind/under/around the oil tank. Whatever. It's a nice build. Well done Tim. Why do brits drink warm beer? Because Lucas also make fridges...
  21. B'stards. Now you've gone and got the theme installed on my cerebral jukebox. It's gonna take me all day to get rid of that. Nice build BTW. Wouldn't the cop cars on the A-Team have just got a quick & dirty respray on whatever the props buyer got hold of? In which case chrome trim (or lack of it) probably depended on where the masking tape was placed that day.
  22. Sweet as. I thought about doing one of these. Laziness and apathy won as usual. Be nice to be able to build some of the cars from the original Life On Mars wouldn't it? I suppose you could build cars from the US remake (i'm still trying to erase the terrible last episode from my memory).
  23. I remember the article. The back story was as interesting as the build details IIRC.

    '67 Impala

Nice. Looks grey to me which is good. We need more grey cars...
