Maybe it's an anti-theft measure?

You bend it, you mend it indeed...

Some kind of insurance might have been a good idea for all involved. -
Great work, but will you risk disqualification if there is too little of the original kit left?
-
The one that means the most to me is the first one - peoples choice at an AMCC NNL years ago.

OK, 3 Beetle engines. Still seems a bit steep to fettle a dak dak. -
1/24 SCALE IS NOT BAD AFTER ALL

I've seen the seated big hairy naked man in the flesh (sic). It is very unsettling as it looks so real. You get the feeling it'll suddenly go BOO! or wink at you. And the there is that penis at eye level... -
Stacey David's Rat Roaster by : REVELL
zenrat replied to Greg Myers's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Go wash your mouth out Eric. There is no question about Roth's taste. It was unquestionably off the wall - and all the better for it. And John, I like your thinking. A Revell Deuce "Master kit" containing all the parts from all the kits would be a doozy and we will never ever see it as they will always want you to buy 2 or 3 kits to get all the parts you want. -

$174,000 to rebuild what is basically a glorified Beetle engine? -
IIRC the original had/has Buick wires and Revell didn't want to tool up for them for some reason.

Aha! I was wondering where those decals came from. This is one of my favourite kits. One day I might get to building one OOB but until then accuracy issues and incorrect box art doesn't matter. If anyone has just realised they've been gipped and are so disgusted they want to piff their kits then they can send them in my direction...

Hmmmmm. You are all quite strange. Well done. Here's something i've been working on for 4 1/2 years (it sits next to my bench and gets picked up & worked on intermittently). It's Pigbog the Fodebalet (FOrd + stuDEBAker + chevroLET) and since this pic has grown more rust & lost the big front tyres. I might finish it one day...

I too love this kit - can never get enough 4 doors. Here's some inspiration.

1/25 Revell '67 Dodge Coronet- Foose Edition
zenrat replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
A case of misleading packaging if you ask me (which no-one did but i've never let that stop me before). Any small print on the box along the lines of "glue, paint, tools, putty and advanced building skills required to build the car pictured above"? And any photos on the sides of the actual kit? My favourite box lid disclaimer is on the Revell 41 Willys where they point out they supply parts to build ONE model car. No? Really? I was wondering where the parts for the other 40 went... -
Fujimi Mad Police model kits. Post Apocalyptic Police!

I thought it was general knowledge - come the apocalypse the only women's clothing to survive will be leather, push up bras & too tight tops... ...can't wait.- 38 replies

The AMT "old mould" '57 is a classic kit that everyone should build at least once (even if it's just to see how good we have it now). Just be prepared for exhausts moulded into the chassis, low suspension detail and an axle through the engine. It's almost worth the price of admission just for the S.C.o.T. blower parts, kustom grille and sixties bucket seats.

Parts kits - what's your favorite?
zenrat replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
AMT '70 Pro Street Bee as above. Revell '69 'vette - for a gorgeous big block. AMT '70 Monte Carlo Fast & Furious release. Contains all the stock parts plus all the low rider parts plus the big wheels plus a second rear end and a second set of seats and a BBC that's nearly as good as a Revell one. It's just a shame that they put no tuning parts in. Revell '41 Willys Gassers for the running gear & blown hemi. -
But when you're in front that's all happening behind me...
-
Yes. Less cubes than a stock cruiser donk but more horses and i'll be adding a turbo.
-
Pics. Current plan is chassis, running gear, interior tub from the 'cruiser plus engine from the Celsior plus some form of power adder plus some wide low profile rubber.
-
This looks from the pics like a straight re-pop of the old black GNX kit (which was itself a GN kit with extra parts). The fit of the front & rear body parts is always a PiTA with these kits requiring much sanding, filling & reinforcing (so they don't let go while you're sanding). The re-release of this will be welcomed by those who build the local V6 sprint cars which used the Holden version of this engine.

And we're off. I, as usual, will do nothing but post inane comments, pointless suggestions and encouragement until approximately the middle of May at which point I will dive in, make a start, hit a snag and stall until November. Well done all you who have made a start but remember, we've got 11 months so take your time and do it right 2nd or 3rd time. And I haven't forgotten the unbuilt kit pics. It's just they are on the other computer.

True. But once you hit 88 you can win any years run you choose...

But the resulting fireball was a sight to behold. Just to clear something up. The only real "rule" to this build is that it has to appear street legal. That's it. If you want to put lights & fenders on a top fuel dragster then that is fine. We all know that IRL it would fall over at the first sharp turn and run out of gas (OK, fuel) before it go to the end of the street but this isn't real life so it doesn't matter. I like to think through my designs and pontificate about why i've done something the way I did and why it means i'll perform better. However this is not necessary and i'll never directly point out what I perceive as flaws in someone else's design (except for Jantrix's ). I would though like you to point out problems with my thinking so I can make up lies and reasons why you are going to be looking at my tail-lights disappearing into the sunset and not vice versa. For example, I am starting with an 80 series Landcruiser. These tip the scales at 2 Ton so I am at an immediate power to weight disadvantage. What you can't tell from looking at it though is that mine will be rebodied with an identical to stock body made from vacuum foamed carbon buckyball resin (produced in the Javelin Engineering orbital manufactory - Javlab) which is so light it actually generates 1,120 lb of lift. The boys at Javlab are also looking at retrofitting a Wayne Industries gas turbine into the cruiser to replace the standard turbo diesel (although at this moment a blueprinted, bored, stroked and boosted Toyota OHC V8 is still favourite). One thing I can confirm though is that this year my celebrity co-driver/navigator will be Kari Byron and my support crew Adam, Jamie, Grant & Tori. Here's an inspirational pic

Bull. My 'vette suspended, blown big blocked Chevy van with 4 50 gallon drums of fuel in the back would have urinated all over you if it hadn't gone up in flames just outside New York city limits...
