  1. It's been decided that next year will be Sleepers. And to be brutally honest restricting it to Big Rigs might limit the entries. I certainly wouldn't enter - nothing against trucks but I don't have space to build one. No reason why you can't build a sleeper truck though. Allison V12 powered trucks have been built before for this CBP. It's just they were never finished or the builders forgot to enter them in the "start line" post. Or, as Jant says, "foreign (OK - not american), dated, small and odd". I hope to see V6 Minis, Porsche Beetles, gas turbine Prius' and Hemi Trabants.
  2. Defining a sleeper might be as difficult as defining a muscle car. But basically if you look at it and think "that's quick" then you've failed.
  3. Take Dom's Mercedes as the winner of Group B if it gets to the stage of creating a second round poll. I'm happy to concede to it as it's one of those "wish i'd made that" builds.
  4. That makes Erik the winner in my book. Well done Mate. It was an excellent piece of work. You deserve the win.
  5. Love the choice of colours Mike. Today I finished gluing parts onto the Skyhawk. Tomorrow I will wash the panel lines and then Thursday i'll take pics.
  6. I wouldn't say no as long as you strip all the paint and show us the bare body. But it's not just up to me.
  7. Thanks Niko. Doyusha claim the body is a '75 which is immaterial as far as the interior is concerned as its from the same '91 Firebird that donated the chassis. I had to lengthen it by 6mm to get it to fit the body. The extension is hidden by the fuel cell and flocking. The Doyusha kit is one of those Japanese "toy" kits designed for an electric motor. They put the batteries under the interior tub which means its really really shallow. I'm pleased it looks like the real thing. Lucky though. Doughnuts may attract cops but they will also placate them... It's sitting on it's wheels now. Just the side pipes to build and the final details to add. Wagon looks great Matt.
  8. Modelhaus do a resin 1959 impala 4 door hardtop roof. http://www.modelhaus.com/index.php?c=4041&p=65902
  9. There's always room for more than one but i was just thinking out loud and i've had a better idea.
  10. I finished the interior of the Skyhawk. I think i've got everything I need for a flat out, no sleep drive from sea to shining sea. BFO fuel cell - check Large format road atlas of the continental USA - check Huge box of donuts - check...
  11. What was the base model the '87 Grand National was based on. Regal? I've got most of one left from a buying frenzy I went through a few years ago. No engine but that won't matter.
  12. Looking good Niko. I've always liked how these things look like caricatures. I'm coming along. Interiors nearly done and i've tweaked the belts of the blower to fit the poncho donk. Also found some bigger rear tyres to give it a proper 70s rubber rake.
  13. Bat link 2 posts up Jon. Firebird thread is here Wayne http://ozautobuilders.forum-motion.com/t2574-gas9-green-white-orange-1997-pontiac-firebird
  14. ...there is some orange peel still visible, but it looks so much better now that I'm thinking a clear coat and polish will make it look good. Satin clear works wonders on orange peel...
  15. Deadline is December 1st. You can build up until then.
  16. Ah, but they did in Gotham. They led the way. They had to with all those super villains on the loose. Glad you all like it. Batmobile is here http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=71111&hl=batmobile

    My 32 Ford

I don't like the wheels on it but you've done a good job considering you had a 10 year rest. Keep it up.

    27 T hot rod

    Oooh yeah. Refreshingly eccentric.
  19. Good job. Always liked these. Isn't the Eliminator slightly different to the SCJ kit? Simpler in the chassis dept? Or is my memory playing tricks?
  20. What a horrible interior colour - suits it perfectly. Good job.
  21. It's 1966. The Bat and The Boy are tearing up the mean streets of Gotham City but GCPD have nothing that can keep up with them. Enter the Z16 based Interceptor. Modified by Traffic Division's Special Circumstances Department from a batch of two doors they bought by mistake its got fat Goodyear speedway tyres on 5 spoke mags, uprated suspension and a low rise blower that fits nicely under the hood. It's the Revell Z16 (California Wheels release if it matters) with all trim shaved and with wheels and tyres from my parts box (tyres possibly from the AMT '66 Ford Galaxie?), the Latham blower from the AMT '25 T double kit and the cop gear from the AMT '70 Ford. The rear end is jacked up slightly for tyre clearance. GCPD shields thanks to James and the rest of the decals homemade.
  22. Johan Chrysler Turbine car. Picked up a mint boxed early example a year or two ago for far too little. It is the best thought out example of model kit packaging I have ever seen. Now I'm working up the courage to try to build it.
  23. You mean I came up with a good idea for a change? Sleeperball is definitely a better name than Plain Brown Wrapper/Poverty Pack Cannonball. Well done Wagonmaster. Jant - the Nova you posted is exactly the lines I was thinking along except for the fact that as chunkypeanutbutter intimated everyone knows that all Novas came with 396 big blocks, lumpy cams and extractors. My initial thoughts revolve around an AMT Piranha plus a Union Beetle body. But then there's that AMT Chevy Citation I don't know what to do with or the '70 Ford 4 door and the F1 chassis or the second Dodge crazy van with the twin engines. Or I could get a Prius body for the Fiero chassis or maybe do something with one of the Revell Trabant wagons, a Tamiya Mini Cooper and a rear mounted turbo... I suppose a Chrysler Turbine car isn't the best basis for a sleeper is it?
