I quit too about 3 or 4 times but I always come back. I have been on plane kicks and quit. Come back with building tanks and quit. Came back building drag cars. I also collect guns so I go back and fourth between the 2. Having only so much money to spend sometimes one hobby has to give way to the other. I am 60 now and still build models. As long as the eyes hold out I guess I will always be building something. It's a good way to fight boredom and for stress relieve if you have any stress in your life.
I would suspect you would need to have your rear axel set up and tires and wheels you are going to use as well as the body and just do a mockup and measure carefully. Good luck with the build and don't forget photos.
I really think you made the right decission to lower the roofline at the windshield. I think the flow and proportions will be much better. This is going to be a cool build.
This thing is 'freakin' unbelievable ! Don't know how the hell you do it. Guys like you and John T. push others to do better even if we will never be in the same league. Sometimes I think some of you guys are from another planet. I have to go now because I have to throw all by model builds in the trash !
I like to drill out the guages and put photos of gauges in from the back. I then use Krystol Klear ( spelling ?) to simulate the glass (plastic ) cover. You can then cut narrow pieces of aluminum tubing to use as the trim around the guage. Lots of work but if your doing an open car it is worth the work.
My guess is you just applied the clear too soon. If I use enamal I let it dry for a few days. What was the weather like when you sprayed ? Did you use light coats ? How long before coats ? As someone said, this one will need to be stripped. Good luck. It sucks starting over.
Two is about average for me with model paint. If you use something like Duplicolor you can probably do at least or four so you better like the color you choose.
