Hey, friend...... I may can answer a few of your questions.......
Finding some trucks on craigslist will give you an idea of what people may be asking for them, and in what condition. There is a site called searchcraigslist.org just type in "sweptline" and you get all results with that key word..
They put a couple of "hot rod" packages on these trucks, which are pretty rare now. One was called The Dude, it had a 383 but were all long beds. Another was called the Custom Sport Special (CSS) also a long bed, but had a bigger engine than the Dude.......
I used to own a '71 Short box sweptline, and wish I still had it......... loved that truck!
If you decide to use Dupli-Color spray, you need to use their primer, as it will craze the WalMart primers...... Your Rustoleum clear should work on any paint, including the DupliColor......
My first car was actually a project car that I purchased before I bought myself a car to drive...... it was a '67 Plymouth. Paid $800 for the project, but only paid $100 for my driver!! The guy saw that I was buying the driver, a '74 Dart with a slant six, with my own money, so he cut me a deal.............
I have been using Rustoleum aluminum paint for exhaust and other bare metal parts. Problem is I can only use about 1/3 of a can before it clogs the valve on the inside.
Anyone have a suggestion as to a better spray aluminum paint? How does the Tamiya aluminum lacquer look?
Thanks for any help.....!
"Fingernails are pretty, Fingernails are good,
seems that all they ever wanted was a market"..........
a small hint, the artist who did this song wrote all the lyrics, played all the instruments, and produced the album hisself.........
I have a love/hate relationship with clear coat! You can make a mess of otherwise beautiful work rather quickly if you goof on it, but when the planets are aligned just right and you do a good job, it's a really good feeling.......
Thank you for the info, Bill....! I always thought the OHV conversions were readily available to the average person, like Edelbrock parts are today..... It would be a more realistic build for the time frame I'm shooting for if I use a Cadillac engine or early Hemi............
Thanks for that! I have the Ardun speed parts, also have a Caddy engine that I was thinking of using.......... I guess either one would work, then......
1-- "My momma said, that it's good to be fruitful,
but my momma said, don't take more than a mouth full..."
2-- "When that fog horn blows, I will be coming home,
Yea, when that fog horn blows, I want to hear it,
I don't have to fear it.........."
I plan on my next project being a '53 Victoria. I was just wondering.......... would people have put an Ardun-equipped engine in these cars back in the day? If not, what would be a suitable replacement for the kits flathead? I'll be doing it up as a mild custom........
Thanks for any answers....!!
