  1. I can't wait to see how you get the brake fluid in the lines. Really nice work!
  2. I found a paint scheme for you... It's beyond my ability, but I bet there are people here who could do it without a problem.
  3. Nice bending job. Why did you choose chrome paint instead of stainless steel, as the 1:1 are?
  4. I placed an order about 1 year ago and my money was returned. I placed another order October 2011 and still haven't received my order or a refund. They're web site said it takes more than 30 days, but I'm now over 120. I have emailed them a few times and sent a letter asking for my parts. I am about to send another letter, again with a signature required. They have numerous ways to contact me for a status update. In other model car forums, it is mentioned that Arrowhead sells their items at local car shows. If they have time to do that, they should certainly be able to handle online orders that they accept.
  5. I found 10 sticks of HTS-2000 on eBay for about $14 including shipping. This makes it more feasible to try. I'll let you know how this works for our type of application.
  6. I'm looking for a way to solder aluminum tubing and checked out the link you provided. It looks like it would work, but they want $65 for the 'starter' kit. It seems like a lot of money to join some tubing togehter. Have you used this very much and do you still like it?
  7. With the progress you're making on this, it's hard to believe you just started in Nov. Did you spray a clear gloss over the frame and firewall? Maybe you could contact El General, describe what you're doing and they can send you literature, photos or something you could use to reduce. Chuck Boerner stang1forever@yahoo.com makes custom decals and could probably either make them or print them, if someone else does the graphics. He's in a thread here: http://www.modelcars...=1
  8. That's excellent news! Looks like it could be closer to you too. Can't wait. I hope it's going to be a good one. Is there info out on this?
  9. Since Chuck didn't post his Photobucket address, here is a link: http://s1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh499/stang1forever/
  10. Just spent about an hour looking at all of your Fotki photos. What a stupendous build. I have this 'thing' about kit-supplied chrome plated parts. If I can use real aluminum or other metal, I will. If not, I'd rather strip the chrome pieces and use Alclad. My problem has been the kit-supplied spoke wheels. The spokes are too thick to be realistic and I'm constantly looking for replacements. I found some Franklin Mint motorcycles that have excellent wire wheels, but they're not quite the right size. Any chance of marketing your front and real wheels? The blower looks like aluminum, but I didn't see any photos on it. Is it scratchbuilt? How did you center your drill in the headers, in order to get such a thin edge all the way around? Did you use a drill press or your lathe?
  11. I recently ran across Hobby Design hex fittings with tapered ends that fit Detail Master and Pro Tech braid. Detail Master dosen't have much of a fittings selection right now. They told me their manufacturer is making more, but I don't know when. Pro Tech keeps a big stock.
  12. @thatz4u - I didn't know Hobby Lobby had a store in Ft Myers. I'll check it out. Thanks. Have you gone to Paradise Hobbies in Ft Myers? If so, how is it? I've seen their web site and I plan on going there soon. @modeltruckmafia - Thanks for the info. Moving from California last year, I'm getting used to things being a little quieter in the Naples area. It would be about 2 hrs to drive there and 2 hours back. I was hoping for something closer. How often do you have meetings? Monthly?
  13. The 22 JR roadster was a fibergalss '23 T body mounted on a Kent Fuller chassis. You're right about it running in the A/MR roadster class. His competitors called him a cheater because his car had a dragster style tube chassis. It started off with a blown 450 ci Buick Nailhead and later went to a blown Chrysler wedge. This info came from the same Rodder's Journal article. One of his first street cars was a '29 Ford turtle-deck roadster and it's interesting that he picked this same body style for his A/Modified dragster. edit - The kit has the nailhead engine.
  14. Thanks for your help. I searched the IPMS site and found clubs in your area and on the East Coast, but nothing close to me. Searching the web for model car clubs doesn't turn up anything either. What do I expect when there's only one small hobby shop in Naples and the next largest is 30 miles away.
  15. The Rodder's Journal issue # 41 (Fall 2008) had an extensive article on Tony Nancy and his cars. The number 22 has two tales. According to Tony, he worked on 22 roadsters. His friend and author of a book about him said Tony got the number from the date of his Marine Corp discharge. The 'Jr' according to Tony was because he was a Jr named after his father. I thought I also read that after his original number 22, he didn't want to use another number, so he named every car after the first one, Jr.
  16. I'm sorry - what is IPMS? Probably something simple and I'll feel stupid (as usual).
  17. Whose wheels are these and which tires are you using? You mentioned selling your kits on eBay. What would I search for to find them? Can't wait to see more of this build
  18. Is there a club in the Naples area?
