I just opened the doors to my online store specializing in 1/16 and larger. I'm finding it much easier to stock 1/16 scale parts than 1/12 or 1/8. The 1/8 scale guys like to scratch build their own parts - maybe because of the lack of parts for them. I find the larger scales, especially 1/16 to really be the growth area of the hobby. As for your Cobra, I have two that I want to do something with and I think they're a fine example of what's possible with 1/16. I read that the new 1/12 scale 2010 Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang is a great kit for starting in that scale.

Hurry back, Rick and take care to slow down enough for the healing process to work. We'll be here to beat you up when you're well again!

Anybody want a Liberty Transmission?
TedsModeling replied to TedsModeling's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Looks like TDR is not making this as soon as we hoped. He said he is overwhelmed with work at the moment and won't have time for a few months. I'll post something here as soon I get it. -
Rubber / Braided Fuel and Oil lines
TedsModeling replied to cherokeered's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
It would be much appreciated, Dave. Then maybe a nitrous layout with all of the solenoids and injectors. -
Looks like a lot of work and I admire you for making this chassis. Keep it up.

Rubber / Braided Fuel and Oil lines
TedsModeling replied to cherokeered's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I know this isn't related to 1/25 scale directly, but I have tables showing the scale equivalent sizes to 1:1 hoses, braided lines, nuts and bolts here: http://www.tedsmodelingmarketplace.com/links If you go to the individual braided, hard and soft line items, you'll find reference to what that size line would be used for. Example of a .040" hose: http://www.tedsmodelingmarketplace.com/item/added-in-july/soft-line-hose-039-1mm-od/lid=31634829 Use these formulas to find a 1/25 scale or real world size: Find a 1:1 size when you know the scale size: 1:1 size * .04 Find a scale size when you know the 1:1 size: scale size / .04 Using William's thought of finding a scale size for a 12AN hose: 1:1 size (.94) * .04 (for 1/25 scale) = .037. You could choose a .035 braided line or a .040 braided line. See the above link to determine what a .040 hose would be used for. -
I have the same question as Brett. I haven't mixed brass and plastic together. How do you drill the slots in the plastic to accept the tabs? I can understand the holes for round brass stock, but not a rectangular slot without bringing out the big Dremel disk.

Large Rear Hot Rod Tires Needed
TedsModeling replied to TedsModeling's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I found some tires almost exactly the size I was looking for. I have a couple of 1/16 Shelby Cobra kits and the rear tires are perfect. Here's a shot of both front and rear. It's hard to tell the size because of a lack of anything near it, but the tread size would be equal to a 1:1 size of 15", a height of 24" and a wheel opening of 15" These look a lot like the first Hoosier tire above. -
That first shot, at the top of this thread, looks like the real thing in a museum! Love the overall cleanliness and attention to detail, not to mention the great paint job. The decals look superb and really finish off the car. Another one to be proud of!

Really nice. Is this 1/25 scale? I like the exhaust tips through the rolled pan at the rear. The 'salted' tires came out nice. Looks like someone washed the car of the salt though. Looking at your Photobucket shots it appears there's no engine. How about an interior photo? Looks like you stretched the roof width. What kit is the roof from? What color did you use for the canvas roof?

1-8 scale 69 camaro pro mod (mike hill's car)

Really nice stuff, Dave. Are you putting fluid in those shock tubes before you assemble them? Just kidding. -
Coming along nicely. Clean and precise. I can almost feel the bass blasting out of the speakers. Bob - I like the glue 'tip'. I'll pick one up with my next purchase, thanks.

I see photos on a few of the later pages, but nothing earlier. Pages 1-4 have comments on how nice everything looks and I don't see anything. Maybe they were removed. I don't think I see anything until maybe page 8. -

Anybody want a Liberty Transmission?

Bart - TDR is also looking into making the shifter. Is there a web site I can upload files to, so that others can download them? Otherwise PM me with your email address and I'll send what I have. Paul Evoy is getting some info this tranny. Does anybody else have access to a real one for measurements? -

I'll let Tim know and he can get started on it. Since there are less pieces to this compared to a Lenco, the price would have to be lower. His charge is based on cubic inches of material and the type of material. For the best detail, it would have to be the same 'Frosted Ultra Detail' as the Lenco. A 2-speed Lenco with Reverse is $30. That shifter would be awesome. Maybe one of the photoetch guys could make this and we could add the arms. Here are some detailed photos. -
Jamie - Is this 1/16 scale? What did you use for opening the doors - thread, x-acto, other?
-
You said you opened the doors, so the body isn't Revell's SWC gasser. Whose is it and are you using a kit chassis? Love the yellow engine. What color is planned for the exterior? I couldn't fine the Bose script you mentioned. I like the door panels and design. Can't wait for the chassis build and interior detailing. I have a 1/25 Willys I started more than 10 years ago, too. It's going to be a street rod and after seeing this, I need to get it back out.

Large Rear Hot Rod Tires Needed

Tom - I missed your post. No, I haven't even thought of looking at other scale tires. Fi tires could be okay, but they'd have to be rain tires because I want the tread. I'll search for it on the internet. Thanks. -

Ken - I have to admit that the finished photo looks pretty good. I don't know if mine would be as nice. Now I'm thinking more about the reproduction aspect, since there isn't something like this out there, If someone can make a few sets of these, I'll buy a pair and then feature the others in my store. Here's a Hoosier tire I found that could do the trick. Tire Size – 105.0/16.0-15 Tread width – 16.0” Approx. Dia – 33.1” Approx. Circ – 104.0” Recom. Rim – 16-18” (it would have to fit Micro Nitro's Ansen wheel, although I'll have to have Jim make a deeper dish version) Measured Rim – 17” Section Width – 20.3” Anybody want to take this on? This Dirt Track tread design is an example and it doesn't have to look like this. Here's a Pro Street version with a different tread. The dimensions are almost the same. And some examples in use. -

Thanks guys. Joe - TDR makes MT tires, but not in 1/16. He hasn't sold enough to make it worthwhile. Maybe if there's a market for a new tire, he might change his mind. The issue I have with a plastic tire is that all of the tires will have to be the same. I'm afraid the painted tire won't look good with a front resin or rubber tire. Maybe I could cast a resin tire from his dirt track tire. I'm not a caster and I'll probably do more harm than good. Any real casters out there want to take this on? Jim - You make tires, too? You were the first person I thought of for wheels, but then there's the match-up issue I mentioned above. The TDR tire is made for a 16" wheel (1" at 1/16), so I would imagine the opening is 1", but maybe that's the bead size?? I'm not a tire guy, I guess. Casey - It sounds like you make tires. I can research the tires I'm looking for and get back to you. I'd want them to fit Micro Nitro's Ansen wheels. Thanks again for input and ideas. That's what I love about this forum and its members.
