Three Rivers Automodelers Annual Model Show and Contest
PatW replied to greg b's topic in Contests and Shows
I hope someone is taking a camera! -
Yes thanks about the wheels, but were the extended arches included in the kit?
-
Super colour, super stance and super build, well done Frank!
-
Very tasty Bruce! A James Flintstone you say, I must look it up!
-
Thank you Cliff.
-
Brilliant, I'm hoping build more of these, hellaflush and bosozoku style cars. The wheels are great as well but buying the parts and tyres to fit here in the UK is near impossible, and I don't have a lathe or the experience to use one! Delfin were the wheel arches included with the body?

Monogram Lemon Crate refurb
PatW replied to PatW's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Yes Jeff I have some, somewhere! Anyway here's today's pics............. As the inner wing clay has set I've positioned the driver side headlight.................. Laid up the initial outer layer of clay........................... And it's already started to dry............................ As I don't tend to get a lot done over the weekend, that will give the clay plenty of time to cure. I can then shape it. If I can't paint it after a sealer coat, it'll just look like it's had a fender bender! -

Right some more pics. The headlights I found are from a Porsche 356 kit, slightly larger so I cut out the back of the headlight bucket and opened up the hole that was left................ These stone guards from the same kit will go on later....................... As the mold missed part of the drivers side fron wing (see above) I think I'll fill it to match. So I have some alloy mesh that is used in 1:1 car repairs.......................... And them using a template and reversing it, trim to suit....................... As the three different types of modelling filler warms about it attacking plastic, I'll try modelling clay. This is the sort that air-dries overnight. Not very neat to start with but that area will be out of sight. Tomorrow I'll check to see if it has set and adhered to the plastic wing area, if so lay a thin top coat, molding with water to get a smooth correct shape. If not I shall revert to the plastic model filler, and as it says in the instructions, lay on small thin layers, so it doesn't attack the plastic! -

Oh right blunc, I wondered how smoth the edge of the plastic was now I know! Did a few more bits today............. Put on first coat of gloss clear, had to remove the decals as they were in bits................ New door handles from plastic coated wire as none came with wreck!.......................... Test sizing on spare '49 Merc exhaust, again none in the pack............. Fixed seat unit in place.......................... Oh well I'll see if I can do some tomorrow after I've done the ironing! -
Yes we are so right, well said!

Thanks guys. -
Cheers Ron. I don't normally like to stick to the plan, that's build what I see on the box, that's just boring. We have a sales and marketing saying here in the UK, to improve business 'think outside the box', that's me.

and a few more pics..................... Four nice rims......... But who was it that bit that lump out of the wing?...................... Put the carbs and the top of the rad back on............ Put the back axle on........................ The firewall and the bonnet back on................ Test fit the front with the bonnet after fixing the grill on.................. And test fitting the cab as well................. Well that's three hours work this afternoon. I'll do a bit more graft tomorrow............see you then. -
I got this today as a previous starter from the bay. This is how it started out.................. And how it was advertised..................... and on my bench today.............. As most of it wasn't painted, it's amazing what a wipe over with some resin car polish can do........... more to come.............................
-
Cheers guys, I'm hoping to build a back-up vehicle, the Tamiya Hi-ace quick delivery. The light bar on the scooby came with road cones and other bits so I'll use those with the van and car! I also bought a pack of various police light bars, so I can use one (or two) on the van. I also have the rest of the sheet of Japanese Police wording for their Police vehicles. Oh and bye the bye this is my first model with BMF!
-
and more................... As it is a proto under evaluation there's no gloss paint.
-
It started as this, but delivered in cardboard wrapping as an already started from ebay..................... and ended up as a prototype fast response car for the Metropolitan Tokyo Police............................ more to come..............................

1980 Datsun 720
PatW replied to Chuck Most's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
That looks great Chuck, just as we see them on the road. -
Thanks frozono, I've just seen your Datsun 510 race car superb.
-
Superb build, classic race car, seen here in the UK only a few times, well done.
-
Yes fantastic job JC. This is my kind of Porsche, mid engined. The body is superb, I've been trying to do the same with one of my 3 kits of this car.
-
Perhaps Mark the Alclad wasn't as chrome as you wanted, but when I looked at the rear axle unit I thought it was metal! It just has that look about it! Well done so far it's looking great.
-
Well Alex, the chassis is looking very good, so keep up the good work. The body will be the really interesting bit. I've tried making bodies but getting the two sides to match and getting everything square is the deal breaker.
