  1. Thanks slusher. Although I looked at this on Google, but chose the easy option as I'd never built one before...... Bob there's no brightwork on the Nissan thank god. You say 'Very nicely done' then frighten me about BMF, I'm putting it off as long as I can! I suppose for training purposes I can start with covering sprue with BMF, is that a good idea? Now where can I find some chromed sprue?
  2. Just finished................
  3. Nice build, it looks a bit strange with steel wheels the same as the 1959 Mini.
  4. I'd like to get hold of one of the Austin kits. My first daily driver was an Austin Devon 1953 4-Door, in British Racing Green although she topped out at about 60mph I can't see why they used the green! I would scratchbuild a new chassis and also drop it in the weeds. Good progress so far Mark keep it up, and I look forward to seeing more as you go along.
  5. Great build Tomo, great setting nice and dirty! Another one on the shelf I've not got round to.
  6. No don't go all Jeremy Clarkson, he's a pain in the backside here. Nice car, nice kit, if I could do a top chop, I'd convert it to a Range Rover Sport. The factory is just up the road. We see a lot of camo'd prototypes, all Land Rover / Jaguar vehicles. I look forward to seeing the rest of the build, well done so far!
  7. It's a Union kit................... but doesn't show the rims, and I can't lay my hands on them at present..........
  8. Well jb the bodyshell in places is not totally smooth. Although it is in my estimation very good quality and the detailing is correct. I would have sanded it all down but the fear of taking off most of the detail stopped me. I didn't primer the body, which would have made a difference. Yes the wheels were off an old 356 kit but I also had an old Beetle kit with the same rims and tyres, but only 4-bolt pattern.
  9. Thanks guys, yes the gas pedal isn't quite stock. It's from a Union VW Beetle kit that offered standard Beetle and drag Beetle with different chassis, wheels, supercharged V8 motor, including various chromed extra's like the gas pedal. Oh and I made the fuel filler cap out of a door mirror and a strip of plastic............
  10. Cheers Mike.
  11. It came like this......................... A body, A chassis with seats and a firewall to go behind the seats.............. As a lifelong fan of VW Beetles I'm glad I kept spare parts like gearstick, pedals, wheels/tyres, rear and front lights to add to this build. The alloy mesh grilles were made from a 1970's car bodywork patch-up kit. I couldn't decide whether to go round the panel gaps with a fine graph pen. Since I took the pictures I've gone over the rear rubber bonnet tie downs with a black sharpie.
  12. Thanks guys for your feedback, when I try various little details I tend to mess them up, so I leave well alone.
  13. Yes great build jb! I remember these as a friend of mine bought the first Rover SDI in the area with this engine. As a race marshall I saw a lot of the V8 SDI's on the track soon after.
  14. Thanks guys, as a curbside there was very little painting to do, so a pretty swift build.
  15. I bought this curbside kit about 12 months ago, so whilst waiting for paint to cure on another project, I started this on Thursday and finished it today. The decals are quite thick so getting them to conform to the surface has been difficult..............
  16. Well done Tomo. As an ex- Rac rally marshal they all look great.
  17. Super build Jim, we don't see these kits in the UK although we had quite a few on the road at one time!
  18. Yes one buggy I haven't yet made out of the Manx kit! It is very good as it is just plain and simple, it's all that you need of the basic VW bits to enjoy it, playing in the dunes. Thanks acf for sharing your brilliant build!

    Micra.

Well done tommo, it looks just right in rally trim. I've seen a few here in various condition, I think we had quite a few on the stages of the British Rally Championship. A very good rally starter car.
  20. Well done krishna, good paint finish and simple but effective decals, nice!
  21. Superb pics, It's good to see what's going on , on the model show scene over the pond.
  22. Well done Pete. I'd seen one for sale but your the brave one, amazing!
  23. Well done krishna, superb camo. I just did mine in metalic red!
  24. Super looking bodyshell, yes I might be looking for one ----or even two!
  25. Brilliant combo! Right subjects, right glossy colour and a mountain bike!
