  1. Thanks guys, wow I didn't think it would cause a stir. Rex there are side scoops in the kit, but as you say they may not have been a factory fitment, but still look good in place. Carl, after 50 years of building, I've started foiling. I think I realised that my attempts at painting around windows were pretty rubbish and the plumbers tape comes in handy! It's slightly thicker but stronger than BMF. Joe I'll try and put some build pics on.
  2. I started this a few days ago after finishing an '89 Grand Champion and waiting to go on hols. An easy build, I've added engine wiring, foiling and alloy exhaust tips. The decals are on heavy backing paper and reluctant to come away in warm water. Also I fitted a PE filler cap and the instructions ought to mention fitting this after decalling the body stripes! So I'll wait for them to dry and trim around the filler. 1st pic shows body just fitted........................ Door handles foiled................ And the first decals laid up................. I hope to get the parts sponsors, tyres and number decals on tomorrow to finish.
  3. Cheers Jonathan. I'm half way through a Monogram Shelby 350 GT350R, and hope to finish that soon.
  4. Thanks Clayton, nice kit and thanks also for the info on changing the header.
  5. That's OK Derek, no probs. No one seems to have spotted my deliberate mistake on the header of this thread..............................I've put the vehicle as an '86 when it's an '89!! I've tried to change the heading but don't know how?
  6. Cheers Leslie.
  7. Yes Danno your so right!
  8. Just brilliant!
  9. Hi Derek I've been out to the cabin this morning and sorted the front side markers. I foiled them first and then painted them with Humbrol Clear Orange, although in the photo below it might look red it's orange!.............................. Now I can start on a Monogram Shelby 350 GT Mustang.
  10. Thanks guys. Yes Derek, I left those on, the kit instructions suggest you take those off. I was going to paint them orange just as marker lights, or foil them but forgot both! I must now try to foil the scripts, that's my next target.
  11. And here they are.................. Now over to the shelves to look for the next build.
  12. I've just finished this build, my first of this type of modified Japanese car. The kit has parts to motorised it so there are a few parts that can be discarded. I had to heavily modify the rear end of the chassis to get the stance as in scale terms the rear flared arches were 6-8 inches above the tyres initially. There is working steering and a full interior with speakers and sound system if you want it. This is also my first go a fully foiling the window frames, door handles etc, using bright alloy plumbers tape. I've tried BMF before and really lashed it up, perhaps for me it's too thin. The paint is rattle can PlastiKote and there are decals in the kit. And a couple more pic to come.............
  13. I open the kit asap. Check that all the bits are there, wash and dry all parts bag up and put a sticker on the box 'Washed'. So that it's ready to build when I want to. I only build one kit at a time so that gets finished before I touch another.
  14. I've been waiting months for these from HLJ. I did another search last week and a store here has got some, so I cancelled the order at HLJ and had these delivered thursday, they look pretty good.
  15. Super build, but whose going to make me a real one?
  16. Superb build, well done Matt. There are a couple of these around here in the south.
  17. Cheers Steve. Yes when I took the photo with the roof off I thought exactly the same as you, just either leave the roof off or cut the windows further just leaving the windscreen in a, as you say 'speedster' look, with the rear seat area covered, with a piece of plasticard suitably painted.
  18. Thanks Danno. Yes I was surprised how aggressive the car looks when I took the front-on photo!
  19. Thanks Joe. It's an easy chop I suppose as the 'glass' comes in one piece, I put Tamiya masking tape around the bottom and cut the top off with a craft saw. The roof took the time, cutting it into four, adding plastic sheet inside to cover a larger area and filling and sanding down the top of it. And having to cut the wiper blades shorter so as not to wipe the roof! This was my inspiration, having been around when this photo was taken in the 60's of Stirling Moss (far left) and the Minisprint being unveiled and later taking it to the track.
  20. Thanks Carl.
  21. And the last two.............................. And last but not least.........
  22. And a few more........... And just a couple more.................
  23. This is my first venture into a roof chop. I chose a modern car thinking that it would be a reasonably easy task! It's not perfect by any means but we've all got to start somewhere. The kit........... The interior........................ And a few more..................
  24. Well done sir! Superb paint in a superb colour.
  25. Thanks Justin on how it looks. I personally don't use the word diecast. Because they are too heavy, too expensive and are already finished.
