  3. Hi Derek I've been out to the cabin this morning and sorted the front side markers. I foiled them first and then painted them with Humbrol Clear Orange, although in the photo below it might look red it's orange!.............................. Now I can start on a Monogram Shelby 350 GT Mustang.
  4. Thanks guys. Yes Derek, I left those on, the kit instructions suggest you take those off. I was going to paint them orange just as marker lights, or foil them but forgot both! I must now try to foil the scripts, that's my next target.

  6. I've just finished this build, my first of this type of modified Japanese car. The kit has parts to motorised it so there are a few parts that can be discarded. I had to heavily modify the rear end of the chassis to get the stance as in scale terms the rear flared arches were 6-8 inches above the tyres initially. There is working steering and a full interior with speakers and sound system if you want it. This is also my first go a fully foiling the window frames, door handles etc, using bright alloy plumbers tape. I've tried BMF before and really lashed it up, perhaps for me it's too thin. The paint is rattle can PlastiKote and there are decals in the kit. And a couple more pic to come.............
  7. I open the kit asap. Check that all the bits are there, wash and dry all parts bag up and put a sticker on the box 'Washed'. So that it's ready to build when I want to. I only build one kit at a time so that gets finished before I touch another.
  8. I've been waiting months for these from HLJ. I did another search last week and a store here has got some, so I cancelled the order at HLJ and had these delivered thursday, they look pretty good.

  11. Cheers Steve. Yes when I took the photo with the roof off I thought exactly the same as you, just either leave the roof off or cut the windows further just leaving the windscreen in a, as you say 'speedster' look, with the rear seat area covered, with a piece of plasticard suitably painted.

  13. Thanks Joe. It's an easy chop I suppose as the 'glass' comes in one piece, I put Tamiya masking tape around the bottom and cut the top off with a craft saw. The roof took the time, cutting it into four, adding plastic sheet inside to cover a larger area and filling and sanding down the top of it. And having to cut the wiper blades shorter so as not to wipe the roof! This was my inspiration, having been around when this photo was taken in the 60's of Stirling Moss (far left) and the Minisprint being unveiled and later taking it to the track.

  17. This is my first venture into a roof chop. I chose a modern car thinking that it would be a reasonably easy task! It's not perfect by any means but we've all got to start somewhere. The kit........... The interior........................ And a few more..................

  19. Thanks Justin on how it looks. I personally don't use the word diecast. Because they are too heavy, too expensive and are already finished.

  22. That's a good idea jbwelda! I have a tube of bath seal that comes out soft and then hardens over an hour or so. That's just right to try as you suggested, after putting a very thin piece of plasticard under the front, just enough to keep it off the ground!

I live near the Silverstone race circuit in the UK and they have a few classic and later Ferrari models turning up at various meetings and most are in red, so I have always fancied a yellow one. Yes the bonnet takes a bit of getting to close, but when you try and fit the wipers afterwards it's even worse, bending them this way and that to lay on the screen and shut the bonnet at the same time (one day) Thanks for the comments they are well appreciated. Yes beeRS it's one of the latest kits from Revell Germany.
  24. This was a Christmas gift from my son Matt, so I thought it has to be one of the first builds of 2015............ Right now I must get on with my 'New' Mini roof chop!
  25. Yes I certainly hope it does, there are a lot of box-art images that mis-lead the buyer. When you start to build you quickly realise that the stance is too high!
