That just ain't right.
Zarana-X replied to Bartster's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I caught that too. At the opening of Austin Powers, there's a Mini parked on the side of the street, but its a Rover version with the roll up windows wich weren't made till the mid/late 70's. -

Er, not exactly. The primer grey bits in the center are a Revell Datsun gasser truck glubomb I'm rebuilding. Took me 15 minutes of looking for the radiator, finally found it in the ineterior tub. -

You guys are too clean. Hardly looks like you're working at all. I'm usually working on at least two projects at once. Is there a prize for messiest? -
They used to make a Freightliner cabover just like Optimus, it's out of production.

The wheels have a mechanism that folds all the wheels out & down. It's pretty intricate, like somethign you would see on a toy. I'll take pictures of the mechanism when I reshoot photos of this. I'm not pleased with the blurred pics.

Nice. I've got two of these, as well as the rally version to build.

What I've always wondered is, since this is a mid engine car, how the hell do you get to the engine now?
-
Yeah, my pictures I've taken in indirect sunlight have turned out much clearer. The sunlight, as well as the glare off the white sheet was blinding me and I really couldn't see what I was doing.

Mustang Estate Wagon
Zarana-X replied to JasonFL's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Matchbox made a Mustang van (cough, wagon) in the 70's I have one, http://www.carsandtr...hbox/mb34f4.jpg -
This is the time machine as it appears in the last few minutes of BTTF and BTTF II. This is the original AMT/Aoshima realease from 89-90. I started around 92 or so, in a time before dvds and dvrs. Unwittingly, I took AMTs suggestions on the paint colors. I think they were just guessing for the most part. Two months ago, I opened it back up and stripped the interior that I had painted blue... . This thing has so much kibble, it gave me a headache painting all the minute parts. After re-watchign part 1 & 2 numerous times and driving my wife mad with the pausing and slo-moing on the dvr, I finally finished this Sunday. The only real flaws with the kit, are the electrical boxes on the dash should be thicker. That should be easily corrected, but I'll admit I took the lazy way out and left them as-is. The housing for the flux capacitor is also inaccurate, but there really is no room for the slightly larger housing with a center window it should have. There is detail on this you will never see when fully assembled, the overhead console with gauges are nearly invisible once finished. This is also the first tiem I attached clear parts using epoxy, and I am very pleased with the results, and will continue to do it this way in the future. The headlights, and the windows on Mr. Fusion and the Flux capicitor housing would never come out the way they should if model glue was used. I took these pics in full sunlight. My eyes are sensitive to light, so I'm not doing that again, I was temporarily blind, and the pics didn't come out as well as I hoped.

The last two Tamiya kits I've opend have had 2 instruction booklets.

That's just showing off, man! There's a batmobile thread in the community builds section, you should repost this there. I'd like to see what you could do with the lighting on a BTTF DeLorean time machine...

Beautiful job. I'm Jealous.

I've got this and a bunch of the other Amt Star Wars Kits I built about 18 years ago. This is actually one of the better ones. The R2-D2 figure and Darth Vader's Tie-Fighter are pretty good. The Snap-kits are pretty really crappy. (AT-ST, Hoth hangar, etc) Your coloring is very good, you should practice your drybrushing, the colors would blend much better, fading into one another, and not look as blotchy.

2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD
Zarana-X replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
I'll be building it box stock, considering what it is. If I was rich, I'd attempt to get two more, one to convert to the Mad Max version, and one to convert to the red XA "Bat Falcon" -
Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I Just noticed, part of the "ear" on the decepticon emblem got folded over somehow. That's bugging me, not sure when or how it hapenned. Either when I cleared the hood with Future, or when I polished the hood. I had another one I built in the early 90's as robot Sunstreaker, unfortunetly, I don't have pics of that, I have the pieces, but it's too far gone to reconstruct, (pherhaps). I do have a new kit, I will be building as Sideswipe, I'll try to build it as neatly as possible, as it is an actual car. Walter Wolf's LP500s Countach. I have a glue bomb '79 Vette that will be rebuilt into Tracks, eventually. Also an MPC Beetle that may become Bumblebee, the MPC Beetle is as bad as the Revell one, but for different reasons.

2012 POST APOCALYPSE/ZOMBIE HUNTER COMMUNITY BUILD
Zarana-X replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
Well, the rules state you must use a new kit, and as much as I like to break rules, I need to get crackin' on my stash of new kits. So, count me in with... I've had it for at about 2 1/2 years now... -
This is built from Tamiya's Curbside kit. I originally bought this about '89 or so. For some reason I tried to make a rally car out of it, hence the front wheel arches cut out. The rally car didn't turn out as planned so I made my first version of Breakdown, mostly from memory. And it stayed that way until last month. The colors and paint scheme weren't all that accurate. so I took it apart, added seperation/panel lines, changed the tires to larger ones, and repainted it. Here he is now:

I've got two of those, as well as both versions of the Flying Beetle. Was this ever repainted? -
I thought this episode was hilarious, one of my favorites. I know what it's like to be targeted because somone doesn't like the way you look, your car, or agree with you. It says more about them, than you. Also, about 2/3 of the stuff about America is true. Personally, "If it don't apply, let it fly."-Flavor Flav.
