JWBTM decals and Testor's Hemi Orange lacquer.

The red car uses the blue car set from Wetworks, and has custom graphics (white numbers and the rear deck lid graphic) that were made by 3 Amigos. I don't think there were ever more than 2 or 3 sets made. Les made them up upon request for me.

Also, here are all the Cartoon Network cars it's possible to build using kits and aftermarket decals:

To clarify: there are two versions of the purple Scooby-Doo Monte Carlo, a curved side version and a slab side version. The decals are the same in both kits. The 46 Woody Woodpecker is technically not a Cartoon Network car, but the idea is the same lol.

On a related topic, is there a 1/24 or 1/25 Javelin kit available? A friend has a '70 Mark Donohue edition and I'd love to build a model of it but kits don't seem to exist.

Good eye, it's the pro modeler kit. For this era of Monte Carlo I always use a Pro modeler kit as the body is much more accurate than the full glue kits.

Just off the workbench: Bobby Hamilton’s 2001 Talladega winner. This is my second attempt at building this one, the Slixx decals were issued at the nadir of their quality, so I knew it would be a struggle. I sprayed the decals with Testors decal bonder first which made them usable, although still too stiff and brittle for real comfort. Glad to have this one added to my display case.

IIRC the original release of this kit sat just a touch high. Perhaps Fireball's tires will solve this issue. Really looking forward to picking this kit up. I've been wanting to build one for a long time. That burgundy interior is so 80s it's perfect.

Slixx decals on that one, very hard to find.

Check the pics of the model on the boxes. If the model shown on the side of the box has two circular holes in the rear side windows, it's a slab side kit. See this model for an example:

The box art for the Firebird shows the stock wheels too if I'm seeing that correctly.

Oh geez! My typo ran afoul of the sensors! LOL! I'll fix that. Yes, I didn't have base wheels available to me and in the interest of actually getting this thing done I went with the kit wheels. If I encounter the proper wheels I will swap them out. Technically the tires should be white-lettered as well, but as I didn't have any white acrylic on hand I went without as well. I also need to add the proper license plates. Building an old MPC kit with it's 'close enough' fit issues was quite a shock after years of building more modern kits.

From the MPC kit with a resin hood from Motor City Casters. Because this old MPC kit isn't that detailed, and for better fit, I built this as a curbside and glued the hood shut. Tamiya Chrome Yellow and Black. I used the '71 Mustang kit; the grille insert is a '73 that's included in the '71 kit.

Built from the Hasegawa lowrider kit. Used Johan Cadillac wheels and tires and adjusted it to a stock ride height. Paint is Testors Dark Cherry Pearl lacquer, which is similar to Cadillac's Claret color.

Made with the brand new Powerslide decals. Tamiya TS-16 for paint.

I still see plenty of listings for all of the Hudson kits (the '53, the 54 Club Coupe, and the '54 Special) on ebay. That might be the best place for you to get one.

I used a brand new sheet of foil, and only brand new blades to cut and trim it with. I don't think I would have been able to do the chrome on this one without using a brand new sheet.

Does the hive mind here think this kit would be a good starting point for, say, Swede Savage's T/A car? I know that car requires big and littles and racing wheels, but in terms of the overall look, would this kit be a good starting point?
