The upcoming Toyota kits and I believe some of the new Mustang kits will have the dash panel and switch plate included as parts. I haven't had a warped body yet but I did have one warped chassis floor. I heated it up to remove most of the twist and then glued the body down to the chassis which removed the rest of it. I have found that for me, the best way to assemble these kits is to use liquid plastic welder on as many of suspension parts as possible before painting any of them. I trade off some detail painting for increased strength and ease of build. That seems to work pretty well for me but of course everyone's mileage may vary there.

I'd think you'd have to paint the car gloss black first. Or the car will come molded in black. Then the decals will go over that. There's enough black on it where I suspect that's the way they would go. I'm going to build Bubba's Kansas winner with the first Toyota I get so it's not as much of an issue for me, but I can see how those Truex decals can be intimidating.

Yes, I built the '96 car using Racescale decals for the main bits and a few Slixx to fill in. The car you built is the '97 car and Slixx decals had that sheet. There are differences between the two schemes as you can see.

I think they have changed the instructions for the new Mustang releases, Tim Boyd posted some pictures of the new instruction sheet over in the Coming Soon area.

It's 2500 of each decal scheme, but there are still going to be multiple Mustangs, Camaros, Camrys made of each body style. I doubt it will be a problem getting a kit for the foreseeable future. I am hoping that the Revell tool for the Gen 6 SS and Fusion can be located and re-ran at some point. Those were legitimately great kits and are very, very difficult to find now. If they can be found and Gen 6 Camaro, Camry and Mustang bodies can be made for them I'd really like that.

I can see them possibly doing a Magnum but can't see them doing the Mirada as it never ran in a race for Petty. The Magnum is still a hard business case to make: all new body tooling for one kit to be made? I dunno. I think the best bet for a Petty Magnum is a resin body on an SJR chassis.

Revell 1971 Boss 351 Mustang

In this pic, is the promo model painted Grabber Blue? I can't quite tell. -
They are planning on releasing 9 vintage-era kits this year from what I understand, along with the 3 modern cars (Ford, Chevy, Toyota). If they don't interest you that's fine. But for me and others who are interested in the new kits, it comes across as rude when people come in to loudly proclaim their disinterest. Just....scroll on by. I don't have interest in the modifieds but a lot of people do, that's great. I've built a ton of the Salvino's kits and have enjoyed both the modern and the vintage-era cars. I just finished a build of Richard Petty's Roadrunner that I posted in the Nascar forum and that was a really fun kit to assemble and it came out great. And when the Toyota comes out I'll happily build that one too as I have some Bubba Wallace decals ready to go. Build what brings you joy, and let others do the same. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Did the reviewer have to spray this over a black base? I think the product looks very promising. -

This is why I like his videos so much. His constant emphasis on having fun, making a nice looking model and building for yourself is a great reminder to me about how I can best enjoy the hobby. I am still in awe as to how he gets such good finishes from Rustoleum cans, I've had terrible luck with them and don't try any more. He has seriously excellent skills. -
I just finished this kit, so one tip: you may have to remove the two oil caps on the connector on the front of the engine to make room for the hood to sit all the way down. Mine interfered. I took them off and painted the nubs glass black, and that worked well.

That album is amazing, thank you so much for the link. Richard had the talent, he had the sponsorship, and he certainly had the charisma, didn't he? He knew how to play the publicity game. Those pics show it well. -
I painted directly over the molded in color, with no primer. I just heated the can and applied 2 or 3 light-to-medium coats. Got a great finish that way.

“Bob didn’t love working in insurance, but at least it was a living. And he got to drive home in stylish middle-class comfort.” Just off the workbench: 1970 Ford Galaxie 500. One of the very few models of a four door car ever offered. Butterscotch paint was from Automotive Touchup, Tamiya paints were used for the interior and top.

Absolutely stunning work!

Just off the workbench: Bubba Wallace’s 2021 Doordash Toyota. Powerslide resin body, Revell Gen6 chassis, MPR decals, and a custom mix for the paint. I’m extremely happy with the way this one tuned out.

Man do I love this!! What color did you paint the dash?
-
You brushed that? It looks tremendous!

This kit will be out sometime early next year. They got the licensing from Nascar and Ford and are working on the tool now.
-
Ah I gotcha. Makes sense now.

On some of the later issues of the kits, there's a transparent spoiler. I might have an extra you can have, if I can dig it up.
