Jay, did you sand the sidewall down at before begininng your decal process?? it almost looks like it
  2. Some great builds of 2 great drivers!!!
  3. I dont agree with that statement. I personally wish I could build to the level you do. Your Jeep project is absolutely amazing. I would someday like to attempt to scratchbuild a lift to fit some RPP 48's on the MK Bronco...
  4. I love your post's Luke, very informitive!!!
  5. Enzo..first of all it was my suggestion that got the NASCAR forum going.... now, up until recently I was that "American Muscle" guy and all I built was musclecars, however, I have gotten extrememly bored with them and decided it was time for a change, and got into NASCAR building, primarily the 80's and early 90's cars with some 70's thrown in thanks the the new MK reissues. I dont have much interest in building anything later than about 1995, except for maybe a Dale Sr. car. but I am not building with blinders on either.. in the last few months i have ordered probably 10 different Fujimi JDM kits of various manufacturer, and ordered the Fujimi Ferrari 330p4 that was recently re-issued from HLJ as well... I personally am enjoying Steef's Tamiya F40 Monte Carlo build, and always check out yours and Izzy's builds of exotics and racecars, because they interest me too. I would love to see some new tool '60's-70's Trans Am and Can-AM racers as well. guess what I'm saying is, even though I build NASCAR, I enjoy all types of racing related builds, and maybe all the racing sections could be combined into a "race car-sports car" section.....and just leave the exotics in the normal forum, Ithink if you creat a sub-forum for each individual type of build, i.e. exotics, muscle, imports, off-road, it will decentralize the board too much, and lose some of its" friends hanging out and modeling" type of atmosphere..
  6. I ordered mine from Mike, and yes, I meant Rusty's car.....i think rusty when i see kodiak.
  7. looks really great!! just ordered the new JWTBM decals to do his '89 Championship car...
  8. he still may need it after drilling those out.....wow!!
  9. I have tried 3 online translation websites, and none of them could translate that.. in other words,.................... huh!?!?!?
  10. any reason you couldnt drill a hole and seal a meat thermometer into the side to monitor temp?? been considering something like that myself since I have to paint outside..
  11. I'm happy with the NASCAR section, thanks Gregg!!
  12. I painted and pearled it last night, and need to go the LHS to get a can of clear, any reason why I couldnt clear it tomorrow night, then wait 3 days and polish it( as long as its gassed out enough)?? ' I also just found a can of Testors Lacquer ultra gloss clear in my stash, can i use that instead of tamiya?? I seem to remeber that tamiya and testors lacquer were compatible??
  13. should their pearl top coat be shot over clear, or should a regular clear be shot over the pearl, or should the pearl be just shot over the base color as a final top coat?? I painted a nascar model chrome yellow with pearl top coat directly over the yellow to get an accurate color, and was just curious?? also, what about color sanding between color and clear to get a smoother finish, should I?? How long to wait to do it, and what grit paper should be used??
  14. I'm sitting here wishing I had paid more attention in Japanese language class in high school!!!

the only time i can see that not working is in my current situation im in, im building the michael waltrip pennzoil pontiac, and it requires a pearl top coat on wheels and body to get the correct shade of yellow... but otherwise it should work great......thanks for the tip. btw, i really like the look of the 5 hole rims, they look real!!!

I've found that by overcoating the white enamel with testors dullcoat, not only makes the white not be tacky, but gives an overall better appearance... however, I'm ordering powerslide tire decals tonight from Mike... Billy, and whoever else, can you go over what you do to apply the decals, including any gloss coats before or dullcoat afterwards...
  18. Billy, where do you find the lobographix decals....they have a set i saw on the nascar board to do Lake Speeds '82 daytona 500 pontiac that i'd like to build...
  19. Billy, between yours, and the other 2 sites listed, I think I have spent atleast 6 hours doing the old" save picture as" routine getting reference pics for cars i'd like to build.....and im still not done...
