Its down for me too.. its been having MAJOR slowdown issues with the server last few weeks, my guess is that its down for maintenence/repairs. EDIT: Pat Redmond, who is moderator on Randy's board, just posted on the spotlight hobbies board that the NASCAR board is down temporarily for maintenece, but he cant give a timeframe when it will be back up.

Absolutely gorgeous build!!! really made that dated kit look great!! I have owned 4 1:1 79-81 Z28's and love seeing these kits built. I have a few of these kits to build my first car, a red on red '79 Z28, but I need to fgure out the best way to fill in the t-tops to make a hardtop. I'm really interested in how you did the wheels, to mask of the trim ring to get it chrome and the rim painted. 1 piece of advice for anyone building this kit, and i often see it missed (even Alex Kustov missed it on his build in SA) from the lower body down( below the stripes) on the fender, door , and quarter, should be semi-gloss black...and the recess in the door handle should be semi-gloss black as well.... a couple little details I thought I would contribute to anyone building this kit...

I picked up another revell '70 Mach1, so that makes 2, plus another can of Tamiya clear.

I just had my LHS order me some last month, so I dont know...

started using a Revell Cale Yarborough Legends Kit and will use Slixx Decals. Tamiya TS-26 Pure White with Tamiya clear. chassis is gloss arctic gray from Homey Depot. Electrical tape roll bar padding. seat is painted with testors fabric black. lowered by notching front wheel backs and cutting rear spring tops. Had major issues with the donor kit as the body was twisted 3 different directions, and actually still has a slight twist in the left front fender that i cant get straight, but its close enough. chassis was twisted as well. Hope to have it finished later this week for build completion number 4 of '08.

1. are they lacquer?? 2. based on the answer to questions one, can i clear over them with something other than metalizer sealer??

I am shooting from the spray bomb. and I'm in Vegas, one thing we are not is cool/humid..

Wow!! I've waited 24 hours after applying color to apply clear, and so far (3 months later) havent had any side effects, like crazing, lifting, etc......

I can never remember how long to wait between color and clear?? I have good results, both clearing after 20 mins, and the next day, but if i need to wait a few days before i can clear, i understand its 3-4 days??

thats looking good, and the scratchbuilding is amazing!!! we have a few crew cab tow trucks here in vegas, they are usually used when people are broke down on the freeway out in the desert in the middle of nowhere.
