getting close. body decaled using the slixx sheet, JWTBM ford goodies headlights and taillights, and parts of the orange ups sheet for the grille tape.
I didnt like the heavy orange peel after painting it, so i used a polishing kit to sand it down, and recoated with a couple heavy coats of the Tamiya TS-13 clear. looks MUCH better!!!
Just about got this little sucker finished up. painted the window trim Tamiay flat black. it should bea semi-gloss, but I used what I had.
painted the calipers on the XS tuning brakes testors red.
flocked the interior using detail master flocking. its a little thin, and I need to experiment with a different method, but it still turned out pretty good.
body assembled on chassis shots. just need to epoxy the wheels on, add the mirrors, and it Pau!!!!!
the wheels are a trick I learned from the nascar board for painting the thin yellow/red stripes on the wheels...
I like it , they turned out pretty good.
debating overcoating them with semi-gloss clear, or leaving them alone...
No graphics, I like my tuners with the clean look....
this project is pending the painting of the trim black. I had troble with that on my MR2 build.
if that goes ok, I'm going to practice my flocking and do the floor in a dark grey.
the dash is already shot flat black to match the console.
I am also going to try tinting the windows and doing a glare strip on the windshield using tamiya smoke.
never done that before, so we'll see how that goes, too...
got the chassis painted:
tamiya metallic red with aluminum fuel tank and testors metallizer stainless steel exhaust
wheels are tamiya flat black. the red stripes are a mistake/experiment that worked out.
I shot the black over the XS tuning wheels, and it wrinkled on 2 wheels, so i saned it off, and experimented with a red sharpie...I like it.
got the body shot with the metallic red and Tamiya TS13 clear.
interior is tamiya german gray with flat black console, overcoated with testors semi-gloss for the vinyl/plastic look:
Tamiya French blue over white looks like it might be real close...
btw Muscle Car Review and i think one other mag have pics of that car, recently since Bill Goldberg bought it..
the factory painted them that way on 67-69 Camaro's
you could get a factory front spoiler on firebirds, but the only factory rear spoiler was on the '69 Trans Am's
people who want a rear spoiler on their 'birds install the camaro spoilers. the firebirds and camaro's use the same trunk, so they bolt right up.
looks awesome!!!
is the rear spoiler from a '69 camaro kit??
I have one sitting about 80% completed since '05, I should probably pull it out and finish it!!
just needs BMF and final assembly..
looks like both an interesting subject and an interesting build Brendan...
that car gives new meaning to the term "whale tail"!!!
I have the Aoshima RX-7 from the Daytona 24 to build...
I know its an old motorized kit, but it will be a curbside and the body looks accurate.
between plastruct plastic weld, tenax, epoxy, CA, and liquid cement.....
also, how in the heck do you get tenax to work??
I have a bottle, but everytime i put a brush to it, it doesnt look like anything is on the brush
