  2. Irv, I'm drooling!!! that looks sweet!!! Where can I get that hood!?!?!?!?
  3. They just canceled schools here in Vegas because of the snow for tomorrow for the first time in 29 years!!!!!!! they actually have truckers chaining up, on the freeway, downtown!!!! this is insane!!!!!!
  4. picked up one of the AMT reissue '60 Starliners..... love those tampo printed whitewalls!!
  5. we got 5 inches of that white stuff here in Vegas on monday...it melted tuesday, and we got 2 more today with it still snowing. My house used to look like Jairus when I lived up in Salem, and I thought I got away from that stuff here!!!
  6. I work for an auto insurance company, and see cars torched by people that cant afford them every day!! problem is, we have to be able to prove in court that they did it on purpose, and that only happens 1 in 10 times.
  7. another Revell '06 Monte Carlo SS NASCAR for a donor kit... and the NEW MPC '70 SuperBee!!!!!!
  8. mine didnt have them yet, but I did get 2 Revell '66 chevelle wagons for $5!! I will continue to check weekely for them...

  10. Thanks for the heads up...I could use a couple more...
  11. I just started building NASCAR kits in dec of last year, and while I have a few of the cars from the later 90's till now to build, my focus has always been on the 80's and early 90's cars, because they look like real cars......... nothing looks meaner than an '82 Buick Regal with flared fenders to cover the racing slicks, when guys like Bobby Allison and Ricky Rudd drove them. the annoucement from Revell really doesnt bother me..there enough of the older kits out there (except the Monte Carlo AeroCoupes, they are getting harder to find)...and the decal makers will start catering more towards the 80's cars because of the abundance of kits, which suits me just fine. I have enough NASCAR kits and decals to last 5 years of building.... I enjoy watchind NASCAR on TV on Sundays...only because there is nothing else on tv then...
  12. I may have the purple valance, let me check and I'll post up tomorrow...
  13. Quite a few reasons, and the more I think about it, the more I come up with. 1. keeping in touch with my childhood, I'll be 32 in Feb, so its fading faster and faster.... 2. The satisfaction of completing something, and the feeling of creating something realistic out of a bunch of white, grey, (enter color here) plastic.. 3. The creativity of it....I was a pretty good automotive artist when I was younger, but got away from it... 4. Being able to own all the cars I want, in the colors I want, because I will never be able to do that in 1:1 5. Its a constructive hobby, and keeps me away from the street races..and it also keeps me from spending money on my 1:1 IROC...which I actually need to do to get it running after a 5 year head gasket job that keeps spiraling out of control. I only have approx 8 hours worth of work to get it running, but need $1k to get it driveable and on the road, and thats money I dnt have to spend right now... 6. It annoys my parents that I still do it!!!
  14. It all depends on what time period your building it for?? late 50's, a 348, or possibly a Cad or Pontiac motor early 60's, 409 late 60's 427 etc, etc...
  15. no biggie...I found another site.. but thanks for trying...
  16. Bob, videos on that link no worky??? its says they are no longer available... on a side note, any idea when the american version starts? EDIT: heres a link to the full version....but be careful, questionable advertising.. click on the play button on the bottom toolbar first, then the one in the middle of the viewscreen when it turns green. otherwise, your redirected to a dating site. http://www.megavideo.com/?v=JIJ1GSCP
  17. The body is in Lake CSC now...I just figured to strip it and repaint it. I took Jantrix advice and sanded thru some areas all over the car and hopefully it will come off in the CSC, If not, I'll pull out the ELO. the paint in the above photo peeled down the bare plastic. Just so everyone knows, I DID NOT sand the body, except for the mold lines, before I primed it. I talked to a 1:1 car painter friend who used to build models and he feels this is a big part of my issue with this car. I have never sanded any other bodies before primer, before this, and never had an issue. It could be that I've just been lucky before. I have also never had an issue with the Dupli-color white primer before this either. Tamiya White primer is harder to find around here, but with Brendans info, I may just have to find some and use that from now on when I need a white primer.
  18. just so I'm clear, I let the car sit for 2 weeks after spotting in the first area that peeled, before I masked and painted this area that peeled.
  19. I am working on a Revell '85 Monte Carlo SS NASCAR racer. Paint is Tamiya TS-49 Red over Duplicolor white primer, over Duplicolor grey filler primer. as the photo shows, the paint peeled when i removed the Tamiya masking tape after painting the black trim. This the second time this has happened on this same car. I was able to spot in the red as it was small area around the front window. What caused this?? I washed the kit in dawn before priming and have sanded every coat of primer before applying the color coat. Do you think I can save this by sanding the area down and spotting it in again? Whats the best way to strip Tamiya?? I have some ELO, but have never used it. and finally, will stripping the paint cause any issues with the epoxy I used to glue the bumpers to the body?
  20. Bob..who sells the LH MGB dash?? I have that MGB kit and would like to build it LH drive as well...
  21. that looks really good!!!! and the wheels fit the car very well!!! great job!!!
  22. every night fter the kids go to bed. I try to get 1 or 2 simple things done everynight, even if that means just spraying some parts outside...
  23. I'd buy all the 442's, Maverick's, Comets, AMX/ Javelins and SC/Ramblers I could get my hands if they aever get re-popped!!!
  24. I would just like to see what colors the various suspension parts and drveshaft should be...
  25. Dave, I love those old Buick's!!! they just have the right "look" to them.. a word of advice, the first thing I do when I pull a Buick or any other monogram NASCAr kit out of the box is check the body and frame for warpage.
