  1. Casey. I used straight testors gold for the cosmoline coating...it looks close enough for me.. I plan to pick up another one of these kits and build a different colored version...it may be the butterscotch as well. I like the "weird", rarely seen colors.....
  2. This is going to be a replica stock build for a club contest. Paint will be Tamiya Metallic Green, trying to get a close match to Mopar Rallye Green, with a white tail stripe and white interior. Going to the local Dodge dealer to pick up some Street hemi Orange engine paint to start the engine work. Wheels are Resin peices generously given to me by our own board member "Airbrush Ayatollah", which I thought I had lost but happened to find when I started this build. I have replicated the factory chassis overspray as well used some yellow and red paint for inspection paint markings on the suspension.
  3. As a former Oregonian, this is laughable!!!! There is no such thing as an "OEM" tire.....the Auto Manufacturers dont make the tires. ALL tires are aftermarket!! thats the key to the future lawsuit that will brought on buy this ######...
  4. I am in need of a few photos that show the front end of thr AMT 69 Barracuda. especially the lower bar under the grille and how it mounts to the fenders ( if it even does).. mine has gap between the bar and the fenders and I need to see if the bumper covers that gap or not to see if i am mounting my bumper wrong. thanks
  5. WOW!!!! JUST WOW!!!!! absolutely gorgeous David!!! this may be one of your best builds yet!!!1
  6. I got a sealed kit off ebay a couple years ago, I think I paid $15-$18 for mine... for $10, you got a good deal!! and welcome to the board!!! always nice to see younger people getting into the hobby. this place is great for ansking questions and learning new stuff.
  7. AMT 72 GMC stepside, sealed for $12.99 MPC 67 Corvette street machine, sealed for $12.99 Johan 71 Cuda for 16.99, sealed Revell original issue '69 Baldwin Motion COrvette for 12.99 and Monogram '70 Superbird for 12.99.... all kits were from a newly opened LHS owned by a friend from my model club. he has several more of the 72 stepside kits, plus a few more Revell 'Vettes that I want to go back and get when I get paid again...
  8. Billy, everybody is right.....build something completely different than you usually do. I was the same way for a while, burnt out on replica stock musclecars (this was before I discovered NASCAR modeling). so I pulled out an AMT '40 Ford, shot it flat black, and finished the kit in like a week....and enjoyed every minute of it. that was 2 years ago, and since then I have finished 13 models including all my NASCAR builds...
  9. looking forward to the build Len!!!
  10. thats a good pic!!! anybody have any idea what color I can use to replicate that??
  11. any suggestions other than drilling them out and replacing them with MV lenses??... i just want to be able to make them look more realistic, but yet not paint them white and making them look like they are turned on...
  12. anyone making one.. friend had a 1:1 and would like to build a model of it..
  13. using them for an AMT '69 'Cuda 383 build.... what color should these things be, and what paint to use to get that color??
  14. nice clean build!!!
  15. the only 67-68 kits are the older AMT issued kits... You cant beat the Revell '69 Camaro kits...the Z28's have the option for both regular and RS options. Revell also does a nice '67 SS396 Chevelle kit. the only '69 Chevelle is the AMt kit. Monogram and AMT have done 70 Chevelles...the AMT kits body looks better... the Recent AMT issue of the 70 Z28 and Baldwin Motion Camaros are nice...Model King just reissued the Z28 kit, but the B/M kit is starting to get harder to find. you might conder picking up an AMT '66 Nova..you can build the L79 327 car with it, and its a pretty nice kit too
  16. I am wondering what my "readily available" choices would be for Hemi Orange engine paint.... I'm thinking Hobby or Auto Parts Store..... some have mentioned getting it straight from MoPar..but my dealers dont stock it..... what about Eastwood?
  17. I currently have a project '88 IROC i'm working on.... I have also owned the following Camaro's: 2 different '79 Z28's 2 different '81 Z28's a '71 Sport Coupe (bascket case project car) and a rare 1 of 26 bright purple metallic '97 Z28 6speed...(###### ex-wife ) the '79 Z28's are my first love, and I would kill to find an affordable one right now. my all-time dream car is a '70 Z28, 4spd, cortez silver with black stripes. but my favorite was my '97 Z28...loved that car!!! great low-end torque, 6speed that I added 4.10 gears to..T-Tops, ran 13.60's with just the gears, drag radials, Borla exhaust and a Moroso cold-air kit..with Ice-Cold A/C for the Vegas summers. that car was a blast!!!!! but these is something about the way an IROC handles, and it just looks cool!!!
  18. yup...that'd be the one...
  19. Nice build!!! love the post-race weathering!!!
  20. WOW!!! that is literally one of the best looking builds I have EVER, seen!!!!
  21. looks like an interesting project Mark, great start, cant wait to see it finished!
  22. its looking good, I like the steelies!!!
  23. Revell kit and decals. Tamiya Black and Clear, decaled and BMF'd, then cleared again, then futured... my first use of future..turned out pretty good. SHabo tire transfers, Detail Master Plug wires, Detail Master FLocking. the kit decals wrinkled in a few areas, but it still looks good.
  24. another awesome build Mick!!!!
  25. some 19" or 20" chevy rally wheels would really add to the old/new combo..... just a thought...
