  1. "Post No Bills" is still common signage on walls and fences, and I always wondered why I was being told not to mail myself.
  2. Boo boos can be avoided by refreshing the page just prior to posting, unless somebody is quicker on the trigger as you post.
  3. Nice looking little car (if kinda bland), very Italianesque, which made ID as something from South America more challenging. Fissore is not among the most well known European design houses in the States, but they did some notable cars, among them the DeTomaso Vallelunga. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrozzeria_Fissore
  4. DISREGARD
  5. LATE POST...NEVER MIND
  6. Us chickens has gone ta bed.
  7. I would guess the AI doesn't recognize them as words specifically, but "thinks" they're just designs it's seen something similar to, and doesn't put them in context as images that should be interpreted as text, so as to make the reasoning leap that proper spelling is part of the equation. The reason I think this is because there are other words that look like words at first glance, but if you look closer, or stop the frame, they're just squiggles, or partial words with some squiggles. Some people have difficulty with interpreting stylized typefaces as words occasionally, so it's not surprising a machine might also. EDIT: There some that don't fit that supposition well though, like the "guaramted midmight delivery" or something similar on a Santa frame. Poor spelling ability on the part of the human(s) behind the production? Not a first-language-English speaker? Sloppy editing? Somebody just being oh-so-cutesy? Who knows? Still, from what I'm seeing, these consumer- and art-grade AI products are not really good yet at understanding context and nuance, or making logical assumptions that human minds do effortlessly (some human minds...). These abilities can, however, be defined as more sophisticated pattern-recognition, and will continue to develop over time. This one seems to me to be just a tick better than the last one. The last one had all kinds of flaws, like vehicles moving kinda sideways, and licking ice cream or eating being rendered very oddly. Maybe it's learning. EDIT: It's a failure of AI to grasp context and make logical assumptions that (some) humans generally excel at subconsciously that seem to be responsible for the mistakes self-driving systems make as well.
  8. "Ago" always makes me want to try to go with something about go-go girls, but I've just about used all those references up, jawohl.
  9. Painted with a dirty pinecone: obvious Dipped in syrup: excessively thick 2K clear that fills seams and obliterates surface detail Painted with a roller: again, obvious "Bass boat" can also refer to excessively large, way out of scale reflective particles in metallic paint, also common on fiberglass dune buggies and helmets with a metalflake finish buried under clear gelcoat. ------------------------------------------------------------ Shelf of doom: refers to projects stalled for a long time but not put away
  10. And Remember the Maine on Feb. 15.
  11. Squirrel haunches can probably be dressed up and sold as frog legs, but it still takes a lot of 'em to make a pot pie.
  12. Brother, can you spare a dime?
  13. No, but it burps and farts methane.
  14. Sun on bananas accelerates their decay, and Warhol surely knew.
  15. Money is the root of all weevils.
  16. Murphy has some kinda law I've heard referred to, usually when things like wings falling off of airplanes happen.
  17. Veal offends some people's sensibilities because it's baby cow, but to a true carnivore, it's just mighty tasty and tender meat.
  18. Pavarotti always makes me want sausage pizza. >>>>>>>>>
  19. Sorry if this sounds out-of-character sappy for me (no, I'm not) but as difficult and annoying as the past several days have been for a wide variety of reasons, I find it helps to stop and take a conscious break to be thankful for all the little things we take for granted every day. The glass actually IS sometimes only half full, but half a glass is way better than nothing in the glass at all...and even the glass itself is really pretty cool.
  20. Consolidating part numbers for just that reason is common practice across the industry...which kinda begs the question: when so many applications were so similar, why didn't vehicle designers just design around off-the-shelf parts instead of reinventing the wheel so many times? The downside of consolidating part numbers is that occasionally a part that worked in an "off-label" application no longer works with the replacement design. I'm working on that issue right now, as the aftermarket fuel pump conversion for DeLoreans used a specific Delphi part number, and the "replacement" is just enough different to lo longer fit. Buying "NOS" isn't reliable, as there are cheap Chinese knockoffs in counterfeit Delphi or Delco packages that fail for one reason or another very quickly, and there's usually zero warranty support for NOS, whether it's legit or not.
  21. "Sailor jokes with a risque flavor may be inappropriate for some audiences"
  22. Nice lot of vintage HO scale railroad kits and stuff. Some of the "stuff" I really didn't want, but dividing the total price by the number of items I did want, I ended up paying about $5.50 per. And I can use the rest of it somewhere, anyway. For instance: that old brass sectional track isn't really what you want for consistent running, but it's OK for infrequently used sidings and display yards, and if you keep it clean and provide sufficient electrical feeders, it works just fine anyway. It was, after all, all we had until nickel-silver rail and flex-track hit the market. And: I've taken in so many of those cheap Chinese non-running "2 Classic Streetcars" sets in other lots that I can justify an interesting small industry that specializes in rebuilding and restoring trolleys and cable cars.
  23. Courses in map-reading, making change from a dollar, cursive writing, and telling time on round clocks might be good to bring back, because tech breaks, and the more complex any system is, the more likely it will fail at some point.
  24. Yeah baby, I like where this is going. Really like your inspiration builds too, specially the Beantown Bandit. As Mr. Snake wooda said, model on.
