Johan 1960 Desoto Chassis

Nice photo. Thanks. It shows the location of the stamped stiffening ribs for anyone who wants to go the extra miles to get all that right. -
A productive day, and just finished up a second most excellent Thanksgiving dinner from leftovers...for which I'm very thankful.

As we know, in some circles, numbers and measuring accurately are considered entirely unnecessary. But hey...it's got pie-cuts and an airbrushed cam cover.

Petunias? Particle physics? Platypuses? Pork? Platitudes? Ptolemy? I'm at a loss here.

German made Conrad 1/25 scale 1931 CAT Model SIXTY tractor. Very slight damage, and at less than 1/2 of the online asking prices, I'm pretty happy. Fine model that should look great with some additional detailing and weathered...and there's no shortage of reference info in the web.

Building your visions and dreams is one of the greatest attractions of scale modeling, even if you don't have the resources to build real ones.

Songs written and produced by AI are...ummm...just as vapid and empty and capable of engendering "AMAZING!!!!!!!!" responses as human-produced pop krappola.

Are model kits toys. ?
Ace-Garageguy replied to Richard Bartrop's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's never stopped me (even though I'll argue all day long that "scale models" and "toys" are two entirely different things). See...I've learned to hold two opposing ideas in my head simultaneously. It helps when dealing with much of the way things are in the modren world. -
Rehash an original idea enough times, and a lot of folks will forget there ever was an infinitely better earlier version.

What Did You Have for Dinner?
Ace-Garageguy replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Kinda challenging cooking a mostly scratch traditional Thanksgiving dinner-for-one on nothing but a single large propane burner and one toaster oven, but I pulled it off pretty well. Not the best t-day I've ever done, but much better than anything I could have bought prepared or delivered. Also much easier last year with two toaster ovens and a microwave, but as the house in AZ has a nicely equipped kitchen, it didn't make much sense to replace stuff (that I've essentially been camping with in this place) when it died. Leftovers of taters, stuffing, gravy, and punkin pie to get me through Sunday, and enough turkey for sammiges all next week. Hmmmmmm...I think it might be time for a piece of pie and a glass of milk right now. -

I'm with Steve here. I'm kindof a stickler for some details, less so with others. The most standout differences between various Mopar unibody chassis are the subframes and fuel tanks...and nobody but a real Mopar aficionado will catch them or much else, IMHO. Get a unibody chassis under it that looks the part and has the right wheelbase, and don't worry too much about the small stuff. Odds are the tooling designers didn't get all the details like stamped stiffening ribs, brackets, and bolt placement dead on anyway. I used a Lindberg '64 Dodge 330 chassis (right, below) to replace the "correct" blobular unibody chassis Johan supplied under their '61 Phoenix (left, below), and it looks good enough for 98% of the most realism-obsessed modelers out there...including me. -
Bench time would be nice, but I'm so stuffed I'll probably finish out the evening watching old film noir, or maybe an episode or two of Inspector Morse.

I usually make soup or stew or chili with the end of the turkey, use some variety of white beans. Butter beans / lima beans sounds like an interesting twist. Hmmmmm...haven't had dumplings in forever, either, or maybe make a turkey shepherd's pie, etc.

Y'all gobble sumpin, okay?

What Did You See In Your Yard Today?
Ace-Garageguy replied to Tim W. SoCal's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I put my sorry old weatherbeaten Christmas wreath on my front door, and tied a motheaten bow to my mailbox. I'm sure some Karen will complain about the poor quality of my holiday decorations. -
Maybe later she'll start blaring Elvis's Blue Christmas and complete the effect.

Novel concept.

I live in such a poor downtrodden neighborhood nobody is smart enough to put lights up, and they couldn't afford them or the electricity anyway, so usually no issues.

First time in something like 5 years I've had a vehicle with fully functioning heat and defrost. Whoopeeeeee !!!!!!!! (I'm a man of simple pleasures ) EDIT: The ECU that runs the HVAC in the GMC has been fritzing for years, working only when it felt like it...increasingly rarely...and finally quit altogether in 2021 or 2.

So far today, nothing much has irked me. Probably because nobody expects to see me for the next 4 days. Bless-ed peace and quiet a-comin'.

TEMU most likely won't ever get a penny from me, but hey...you do you.

Mishaps in vehicles, commonly called "accidents", should more accurately be called "lapses in judgement, attention, or abdication of vehicular control and/or general incompetence resulting in unintended contact and damage".

Thoughts and ideas that hold forever true..........
Ace-Garageguy replied to JollySipper's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
There's an art gallery in town I've talked to on and off about representing me, but frankly, I kinda like my art so much I don't want to part with it. HOWEVER... I'm going to tape a banana to a piece of latex-roller-painted masonite, and stencil on it "meeee too !!!!!!!", and price it at only a paltry $1 million. I think that's a pretty good deal considering the first one brought $5.2 million. Even if they beat me down to $50 thousand, I'll walk away smiling.
