  1. Hard to beat a well-executed black 930. Very nice indeed. I'd go just a tick lower with the ride height though.
  2. Frankly, I wonder about that every day...and all the while carrying around 20 gallons of highly flammable liquid in a thin-skinned metal or plastic container. If somebody proposed that idea today, everyone would run screaming.
  3. The dead possum that was peacefully decomposing under the tree next to the mailbox disappeared mysteriously, leaving nothing but a few tufts of fur behind. Some kind of scavenger with truly disgusting culinary tastes. But I guess to somebody, it was aged to perfection.
  4. Glad you're back in the saddle. Both models look great. I like the stark black and white.
  5. Cellophane and plastic bags and wrappers in general really should be kept away from small children.
  6. "Handle me at your peril" are what the quills on a porcupine are saying to any creature smart enough to feel pain.
  7. Impression-making materials of the dental variety have been used by modelers to make molds, including some suitable for metal casting (as in bridgework), for decades.
  8. Don't put all your ergs in one biscuit.
  9. Exactly. And when combined with "traditional" modeling skills, it's pretty much the only game in town to build something like this...
  10. Informercial "star" endorsements and the phrase "as seen on TV" inspire in me an uncontrollable and desperate need to buy whatever useless junk they're hawking. (spllelchik tells me that "useless junk" should be one word; must be AI )
  11. It's possible to spin that article and miss the point of the most important lines: "It's worth noting that Tesla claims FSD is still in "beta," so it's incomplete, but it also sells the feature as a five-figure option on its current lineup of EVs, allowing owners to opt into being, essentially, real-world test dummies for the system. They must acknowledge that the system requires driver oversight and is not, as its name implies, a fully self-driving system today." While there is a question in my mind as to the wisdom of offering a system that requires active driver oversight into a world where vehicle owner's manuals are jokingly referred to as "the least-read books ever published", the facts remain that not fully-developed vehicle technologies have been put in real-world use by consumers before, and anyone relying on a level-3 system to perform at level-4 or -5 is an idiot. Real-world beta testing where the owners are advised of their responsibilities and to NOT rely on the system to be fully autonomous has the potential to generate much more data useful in further developing the system than could be possible with just a few professionally driven prototypes. Mr Musk, however, much as I admire him, does seem to occasionally overestimate the intelligence of the typical human, and to forget that they often hear what they want to hear rather than what is specifically stated (or written).
  12. Publix had refrigerated Monsoon Kitchens Indian "butter chicken" prepared meals for buy-one-get-one-free, so I tried one. Pretty decent for $4.50. I usually make my own Indian, but if they have any today, I'll be getting a few more.
  13. "Punishment will continue on the hour until morale improves."
  14. I'd buy any flavor Crosley, but I'm kinda partial to the wagon... Crosley had quite a few racing variants, including this little guy that actually managed to run at Le Mans in 1951.
  15. You gonna eat all those fries?
  16. Person of the female variety standing next to it is, to me, far more attractive.
  17. "Tike" is actually spelled "tyke", and I've liked show rods since I was a tyke on a bike.
  18. Ah yes, the curse of the easy-access-to-all-kinds-of-cool-information-age. if I had a dollar for every internet rabbit hole I've gone down like that, I'd have a lot more dollars.
  19. Desires that top my personal wish list for others include 1) mind your own business, 2) leave me alone on my own property, and 3) don't read anything into what I say that I didn't say specifically.
  20. Salt poured in a cut will wake you up quicker than coffee.
  21. Remember the Maine!
  22. Much nicer job dealing with the roof seam than most people manage. I like heem.
  23. By the time they get mine, they'll be way past the sell-by date. Oh wait...they already are.
