While I was out doing a favor for a friend, some walking sack-of-excrement sorry excuse for a human being dumped a load of used tires off on the shoulder across the street from my house. Wouldn't be so bad if any of them were usable, but they all have holes in the sidewalls.

" I think a little diversity is needed once in a while around here." Okay. Here ya go, joe.

GM is at it again!

Yup, I hate people who get paid a LOT of money to engineer and design GOOD products, but are either too friggin' lazy or too stupid to get it right...and the management philosophy that seems to think it's OK. May be YOU can turn out second-rate trash, consistently, and get paid for it. I can't. -

Duplicolor engine enamel spraypaint?
Ace-Garageguy replied to ERIK88's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
TEST the SPECIFIC paint you want to use on the SPECIFIC model you're working on. Paint formulations vary, and so do styrene compositions. I've had the dark gray engine enamel horribly craze a Revell C5-R chassis, when it didn't hurt some parts from other kits. -
What did you see on the road today?

I think they should pass a law making it illegal to be stupid. -
Dremel 3D Idea Builder

So, Frank, I haven't been following your work closely enough. You use 3D printed masters to make your silicone molds for resin wheel centers? Is that correct? Great looking wheels.- 13 replies

Brainstorm...instead of water polo, how about water pool? Pool in the pool? Get it? Oh, never mind.

Few years back, we had a moron lose a washing machine off the back of his pickup. Following car hit it, people died. Moron fled the scene. Moron got caught. He'd just bought it at Home Despot and the sales slip was in the machine, with his name and address. -
Actually reading posts is hard, and then comprehending what's been read is an entirely different issue... How many times have you seen an "under glass" or "workbench" thread where the first post lists the mods, parts, and colors, and the 5th, 6th and 7th responses are "what parts did you use, what color is it, and what mods did you make to do that?"

I'm sure it is for the best for everyone concerned, in reality, but I had a romanticized notion of Scotland as an independent nation at long last. Of course, being American, it's none of my damm business anyway.

Dremel 3D Idea Builder
Ace-Garageguy replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Even so, we could conceivably benefit fairly soon by seeing some extremely accurate resin offerings of unusual subjects, made from high-res masters printed by commercial machines. It's just a matter of guys learning the CAD tech, and generating the 3D computer models. Just a reminder...the body of this model, in 1/24, was printed by Shapeways from a friend's digital files (that he created himself) a couple of years ago. While the Dremel unit may not have the resolution to print a detailed model that compares with styrene injection-molding quality, it STILL could save hours and hours and hours creating basic body shells and other parts that would be very difficult to scratch-build with any symmetry, using traditional methods. Then the basic parts could have detail added using well-known procedures. The glass IS half-full, you know?- 13 replies

Bugger. But not surprising, as the "no" vote was heavily marketed as security-over-independence. And isn't that what most people prefer, in the final analysis?

Holy spaghetti, Batman ! Pretty bad, scary, no logical reason for it. Typical. But I see a lot worse every day, day in, day out. And some of the cars I get in are over 70 years old, so they've had a LOT of really "expert" repairs over the years. One totally incomprehensible thing to me is that, although aircraft mechanics are required to be federally-licensed and pass a practical-skills test, older aircraft STILL get to have stuff like this on them. Having a piece of paper on the wall (including ASE certifications as long as your arm) is no guarantee that a mechanic will actually perform correct and good-looking work on a daily basis. Sad that there's SO much total incompetence. I really don't get it.

Looks like a bunch of Neptunes. The one that still has engines has the right 4-bladed prop, the right engine cowling shape, the vertical stabilizers look right on all of them, and the slight bubble canopy looks Neptune. Glass noses too. Must be Neptunes.

Truly beautiful model. Nice to see someone put more effort into building it than into whining about it. Gorgeous little car, -
My guess is that mac-n-cheeze & tiny little meatball samidges are cheaper and easier. 'Sides, after 5 beers, who cares what you're eating?
