AND... I see Model Roundup lists it as "1/43". WRONG. The Lotus XI is just a tiny car. EDIT: Scalemates gets it right: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/merit-lotus-xi--937112 EDIT 2: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235115433-merit-kits-124-lotus-11/ EDIT 3: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235080187-lotus-xi-merit-124/ EDIT 4:

Yes...but some of those Merit kits aren't extremely accurately scaled. EDIT: but they DO look right displayed with other 1/24 scale models.

Towers built of structural steel members usually employ insulation to protect the steel from heat-related deformation and possible collapse in case of fire.

Emergency responses can very often be made unnecessary by conscious thought and responsible behavior.

I'm with Pete. Don't really want to know what it is but a twinge of morbid curiosity is calling me to "cheat" to find it. -
Money may not buy happiness, but it sure makes being unhappy more comfortable.

You sound like a pretty good dad to me, trying to teach the kid about saving money for stuff he wants, and taking personal responsibility for fixing stuff he buggers, and generously helping him to achieve his goals. But a few good teeth-kickings from the real world teach a human which side the bread is buttered on and who his friends really are and what matters and what's just shiny useless fluff...maybe...eventually. Sadly, I know people in their 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s who are every bit as clueless, as well as being physically and fiscally helpless, and gullible...easy prey for any smooth talker who comes a-knockin' on the door or calls 'em on the phone or puts up "health" content on YT just to hawk do-nothing supplements and snake oil. How some of these folks survived to adulthood, much less "senior" status is quite beyond my comprehension. Oh wait...it's just because there aren't any predatory beasts these days to eat the terminally stupid and willfully ignorant, and more's the pity.

Kits for DIY brain surgery might solve a lot of problems in the long run.

No disagreement there. My "boomer" generation bears a lot of the responsibility for the dogawful mess the world is in today. I can't really elaborate for possibly running afoul of the board restrictions on "political" speech, but in general, we had it pretty easy compared to previous generations, and a lot of us failed to learn much of what we should have learned and passed on to our offspring...and likewise their offspring learned even less about reality, values, responsibility, and behaving like adults.

"Goes to jello in a handbasket" is what happens to a place when most people look the other way, pretend nothing's wrong, and just try to keep their heads down.

Real sorry to hear that, Carl. Hoping it gets better for you.

Easier to start from scratch to build that. Nothing there is Mustang or Ford GT. -

Summer nights can be difficult to sleep in without AC if you don't devise alternative strategies to deal with the heat, which I have.

Question/New Topic for us Oldtimers
Ace-Garageguy replied to TransAmMike's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
And I'm continually amazed most people seem to think there's a higher percentage of doctors who actually have a clue than mechanics who have a clue. Just because you have a shiny degree or two hanging on the wall, that's no guarantee you really have talent and skill. Doing the course-work and fulfilling the other requirements gets you a degree and a license, but it doesn't make you "good". And if you don't believe that, just look at some of the horror stories about bodged high-end plastic surgery. -
Cares and worries and jerks don't have to ruin your day, because contrary to much popular opinion, humans can control their emotions.
