  1. It's a mistake, pure and simple, to tell someone who's in business actually DOING something that he's doing it wrong, or charging too much, etc. All my professional life I've had to deal with clients telling me I "charge too much" because they could get "the same work" from some ignorant ham-handed mouth-breather for $15/hr, instead of paying my "exorbitant" hourly rates...never realizing my background, education, experience, skill sets, huge investment in tools and equipment, and general qualifications put me on another level entirely. Needless to say, I've shown the habitual know-it-all lowballers to the door, and my current clients fully understand that what they're getting from ME is the same as...or better than...they could get from a "big name" shop, but for considerably less money due to my very low operating overheads. BOTTOM LINE: UNTIL YOU'VE DONE SOMETHING FOR A LIVING...SUCCESSFULLY...YOU HAVE NO VALID INPUT AS TO HOW IT "SHOULD" BE DONE, OR WHAT IT "SHOULD" COST.
  2. "Universe" includes everything, everywhere, and it always struck me as being unbelievably short sighted to call an Earth-girl beauty pageant "Miss Universe", cause there might be some pretty hot babes out there whose species aren't represented.
  3. "Epics" is sometimes confused with "epochs".
  4. "Won't put in the effort to do something right, but then whine about 3rd rate results" is a lifestyle choice I see frequently.
  5. "Running when parked", as the saying goes.
  6. There is occasionally seizing of threads, sometimes between dissimilar metals, that will never come apart no matter what you do. Stainless threads are particularly prone to seizing permanently if the correct anti-seize isn't used during assembly. Aluminum threads can also seize forever. NOTE: Flex lines can be field-spliced permanently, and any competent AC shop should be able to make up a complete (hard or soft) or partial line should it become necessary.
  7. One of the things you learn early on if you build real things for a living, where mistakes and re-dos from rushing can cost you a LOT of money.
  8. CERTIFIED NON-OFFENSIVE-TO-ANYONE MEME
  9. Used tires can save you a whole lot of money, assuming you rarely drive long distances at highway speeds; I've been running "takeoffs" almost exclusively for decades.
  10. Sounds like my last ex.
  11. Yes. Apparently all the Fujimi 911s do.
  12. More magic bits from Randy at Model Builder's Warehouse. First up, a 3D printed Hyabusa-based V8 by Overnite Model Garage, to go in a hot-rod Lotus 7. Yes, it's a model of a real engine, uses a bottom end machined from billet (or cast, depending on the specific engine manufacturer), a billet crank, and two Hyabusa heads. A printed Ford 427 "cammer", by Mad Mike. Truly a thing of beauty. A GT-40 Mk II engine and gearbox. Mad Mike 3D printed again And a blown SBC with a gearbox and headers, also by Mad Mike Besides having some of the trickest, highest quality models and parts, Model Builder's Warehouse customer service is the best I've ever encountered anywhere. Thanks Randy.
  13. Also in this Testors boxing. Same Fujimi kit.
  14. Meanwhile, somewhere in Arizona...
  15. Better be careful what you wish for.
