  1. What a beauty. The paint is awesome. Very nicely done indeed.
  2. Thanks Brian. If you never had posted that tutorial I'd still be in the dark!
  3. Thanks Bill. Having seen some of your other work, I would really like to see you tackle this one as well. I'm sure you'd have some excellent ideas for detailing.
  4. Thanks Brian. I found it much easier to do these using the larger tubing...much less bending etc. I took your advice about cleaning up the punch first.....it made for much better flares with less clean up. Here's a shot looking down on the carbs.
  5. Thanks everyone for your kind comments. Its a very nice kit indeed, with pretty fair detail and well molded and fitting parts. All the same, its very challenging. Brian: I used 7/32 tubing for the trumpets, and 3/32 for the inner pipes.
  6. This is my latest work in progress, a 1/12 scale Tamiya Lola T-70 Coupe. Its my first big scale build, and I'm hoping to be able to do it justice. So far, I've got the engine assembled and some details added. I tossed the kit plug wires as they just didn't look right. Also, I make the aluminum intake trumpets and centre pipes and added the fuel lines. I'm now working on the tub, with the front suspension pretty much done, including lines for the brakes and clutch. I also ran lines for the small radiators. The fittings and braided line are scratch built. Finally the radiator is installed.
  7. That's one good looking Touring Car Dave. Terrific work on a model we don't see much of.
  8. Thanks for all the great comments guys...much appreciated. Keep watching e-bay Daryl...these show up fairly regularly and can often be picked up relatively cheaply.
  9. Thanks for all the kind comments. Here some pics of the completed build.
  10. Real sharp Andy. Looks terrific!
  11. Totally outrageous....I love it!
  12. Great work Dave. I love how that is shaping up.
  13. Your scratchbuilding is fantastic. I can't wait to see more!
  14. Thanks Brian. Its the Monogram kit. I picked it up on e-bay for $10...mint, still sealed. For the most part its a pretty good kit, with quite a bit of detail on all the parts. Its difficult to know how realistic the kit is...I've looked at literally hundreds of pics of type 35B's, and they all seem to be different! Like most kits, the chrome sucks...its way too thick and besides you have to clean up the parts anyway so I stripped it all off. Its well worth picking one up if the price is right.
  15. Here are 2 I have in progress. One is a kit I bought on e-bay, and the other one is a basket case that 59chevyimpala (Dan) sent me from the depths of his closet (its the one with the rear fenders). The plan is to make the one with fenders a full road car, and the second a GP version.
  16. Nice restoration work Steve. It would have been fun to see some of the "before" pics!
  17. Good concept and nice start Ken! Seems to me that thing is crying for an oversize rat motor, blown, and injected with custom scoop.

Thanks very much for your comments and offer of decals, but I bought an extra set of Indycals when I did this car.
  19. Thanks. I stripped the kit chrome, resprayed with Duplicolor chrome, then dry brushed with Testors gold.

Thank you for the kind words Bob. I'm an old retired coot, so I have lots of time to spend on my favorite hobby. I never even try to keep track of the hours I spend....its a labor of love for me. I look at some of the fantastic work done by others on this forum, and share your sentiments about being that good someday!
  21. First class, as usual, Brian. Please tell me how you get the inside of those trumpets polished so nicely. Mine never come out looking that good.
  22. What a great car! Your talents will surely do this one justice, even if we have to wait a while to see it!

Thanks Bob. You can have a look at some of my stuff in my somewhat poorly organized Photobucket site: http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y76/s10man/
  24. I like the concept, and the execution is flawless.
  25. Everyone of them is outstanding! My favorite has to be Maneater! The whole collection is a pleasure to look at.
