  1. I hope you get a chance to do something with it. I love to see the older Indy cars. Bill
  2. I tried a couple of different ways Brian, including steam bending and laminating, but they all ended up too weak as you mentioned. So I just bandsawed them out of solid stock.
  3. The basic kit was the Monogram '30 Ford Woody. From the windshield back the body is all handmade using birch and maple, with multiple coats of shellac and clear lacquer. The tail gate is hinged and operable. It was a fun project which combined my woodworking interests with my modelling. Thanks for viewing.
  4. The engine has been installed, rad was BMF'd and hooked up, fuel tank in with line to engine, exhaust and headers connected. Its coming along. Lots of little detail and touch up still to do. Thanks for looking.
  5. Thank you for the kind words and comments guys. After seeing some of the other excellent Cobra's here I feel like a rank amateur. Bill
  6. Absolutely gorgeous Brian. I really like your engine detail. I only wish I had known how to make such perfect air trumpets before I did mine.
  7. Beautiful work Darin. The wire wheels are stunning on that car.
  8. I didn't want to hijack Darin thread on Cobra's, so here is one I recently completed. Its a 289 sort of patterned on the Ken Miles car, with wider fender flares, extra nose vent, hood scoop, and larger headers and exhaust. Thanks for looking.
  9. You pulled off a really nice transformation Bob. Very well done and very realistic.
  10. Thanks Brian. You have good eyes!! Yes, there are still the front struts and shocks to add, plus 4 wheel disc brakes.
  11. Now that's brilliant. Thanks.
  12. Very clever and innovative David. I like them.
  13. Here's a quick pic showing the exhaust system mock up. Its basically large diameter solder, hollow styrene tube for the mufflers and hollow aluminum tube for the extensions. I need to make some flanges to connect the pipe to the headers. Thanks for looking;
  14. Another stunning build Dave. Your attention to detail is very awe inspiring. I always enjoy watching one of your creations unfold.
  15. Thanks Brian. That is exactly the information I was looking for. I appreciate the quick response.
  16. That's a very nice subject you have there Brian, and I'm sure that it will be just a stunning as your other creations. Its too bad its a curb-side...I would like to see what you could do with the engine in this one.
  17. This is a project I started recently. I was not happy with the stock chassis, so I modified the chassis from a Polar Lights Torino Taledega. I plan to use the 427 engine and all the running gear from that kit. This shows the chassis modifications and extra bracing, along with the suspension pieces loosly taped in place to check for fit. Then I sectioned the body about 1/8" and made a pancake hood. I frenched the headlights and added a recessed license plate to the rear door. The engine is the Taledega 427 which I just got together tonight. Thanks for looking.
  18. Outstanding work Bill. The step-by-step photos in your album are amazing and inspirational.
  19. Thanks David. It was a bit of a chore but I'm glad I did it.
  20. Really exceptional work Mark. How did you simulate the stitching on the wheel?
  21. Very nice so far John. The flags will be a nice addition.
  22. This is a rebuild of an old kit I bought many years ago at a LHS going out of business. No decals and some parts missing. With my limited skills I built it anyway, but was never too happy with it. Recently I tore it all apart and rebuilt the whole thing. Decals are from Indycals. Its still not perfect, but looks a lot better than it did before. Thanks for looking.
  23. Hello everyone. I just found this forum and I'm glad I did. It is a privilege to be able to join you.
