  1. Hello all! been a "lurker" here for quite some time, finally decided to officially join! My name is Mark,i am a career long distance truckdriver (3rd generation) and have been amassing kits and building materials for many years, actually just getting back into building after probably 30 years! I am still overwhelmed at all the new (to me anyway) techiques, building materials and overall advancements in our hobby! I am a "Mack Man" both by trade and design, and can offer advise, tips and information on all things truck! Lol! especially Macks, both current and vintage. My interests also run to vintage drag, replica stock cars. I decided to "get my feet wet" with the re-released AMT White Road Boss my wife got me for Christmas last year,i will post some pictures in the truck section............please bear with me, as I am NOT the most computer literate person out there!.................Mark
  2. Wonderful work! anything Mack always gets my attention,i have often contemplated this project myself, but do not posess the scratchbuilding talent of most on this forum! you have captured the look of the "real" truck just about perfectly! thanks for posting the in progress photos,as it has given me some ideas!..............................Mark
  3. If able to.a good substitute for this kits ladder steps are those from the GMC Astro/ Titan 90 kits, they can be modified in such a way that they represent a later model Freightliner C.O.E especially when the top step is boxed in from the back as previuously mentioned. When i start on my Freightliner,i intend to eliminate the ladder steps alltogether and built an earlier model with the "stirrup" type hoop steps. BTW,the paint/striping looks great!..........................Mark
  4. My suggestion is to try this website,www.Bigmacktrucks.com for all things Mack related, there is a wealth of knowledge, pictures info,etc..........................................Mark
  5. This F-model is pre-bicentennial,Mack did this paint scheme in 1970 to promote their 70 year anniversary.........................Mark
  6. This is a mid to late sixties GMC 9500 series, the short hood version, usually powered by a 238 Detroit diesel, and equipped with a tag axle, the 9500 series also came in a long hood version,a good many of those were V-12 Deroit powered. The same cab was also used on the later "Brigadier" and "Bruin" series trucks by GMC and Chevrolet respectively. Many car-carriers used this exact set-up as it was pretty much bulletproof for its intended purpose.............Mark
  7. Does anyone know about a conversion piece to 'update" the GMC Astro to the later model grille style? it is similar to the General grille, and i have seen a few done this way on here. Aftermarket? resin?...just curious as i would like to model a kit after a 1:1 truck that i once drove.....................Thanks,Mark
  8. Anyone know where i can puchase an authentic decal set for the little red wagon wheelstander? just back into the hobby after many years, and this kit was always on my wish list...........................Mark
  9. As far as i know it was 1966.debut year for the R-Model and the "Maxidyne" series engines, and "Maxitorque" trans............................Mark
  10. Mack B-models were light green with no metallic (early production) 1953-56 56 and later were a medium metallic green inside, with a few custom orders where the interior metal surfaces were the same color as the outside of the truck. The Mack ENDT-673 series and most other engines of this era were a "smoke gray" color similar to Krylon Smoke gray...............hope this is of some help.......Mark
  11. Does anyone have a favorite technique for scratchbuilding fender mounted blindspot mirrors? just curious,as i am just getting started back in the hobby after many years absense............photos,ideas would be greatly appreacieated!......................thanks,Mark
  12. Thank you for the welcome! i have followed the progress of your Diamond Reo for a few days now, very nicely done! i am a big fan of the "new england style" pantjobs,ie: fancy pinstripes, two tone etc, how were those pinstripes accomplished? i just ordered a few rolls of Pactra pinstriping tape, and thought i would give it a try. Been a long while since i did any serious building, thought i'd start with the re-issued Monogram R-model,to represent a 1:1 truck that i once drove, just to kinda get my feet wet!................................Mark
  13. Greetings all! i have been lurking about for some time, and decided it was time to participate. i am just getting back into the hobby after MANY years absense,i have spent the last few years amassing both kits and supplies,i am really amazed at all the "new" (to me anyway) developments in the hobby, and am really excited at the prospects of making my own decals so i can finally model some 1:1 trucks i have always wanted to do.A litttle about me,i am an OTR driver,36 years now,i own/operate a 2001 Mack CX-613 (Vision) and a restored 1963 B-61T tractor, i am considered to be somewhat of an "expert" in both Mack and Brockway trucks, and have an extensive library of reference materials for both,i am looking forward to picking up some tips and advice, and hope i can offer some assistance as well..................Mark
