Thank you Sean, closing in on finishing the Road Boss, just need some bench time! I am now starting to get some materials together for my White-Freightliner C.O.E project. Some fantastic work on this site! and some really good ideas and tips too! Personally I prefer the "real" looking working truck themes, but we sure have some talented custom guys as well! I will update the "Boss" asap!..............................Mark -

Fine looking Pete! Sean, what did you do to the tires to "dull them down"? I was thinking of running a Scotchbrite pad over the next set I do,so they're not so shiny.................................Mark -

looks like a nice job! I am building the same kit myself, been about 30 years since I've done anything model-wise!...........................................Mark -
Jim,where did the Jersey plate and APA decals come from? I was born and raised in South Jersey, and actually worked for APA a short time before they went under, out of the Philadelphia terminal..............................Mark

I sure wish AMT would re-issue their Macks,I have so many projects planned that need the R-Model it's not funny! they are just way too expensive anymore! In my opinion, the R-Model is one of AMT's best kits,i only wish I had stocked up when they were readily available. If anyone needs info on pretty much anything Mack, please feel free to contact me,as I have spent the better part of the last 40 years accumulating Mack Memorabilia,Brochures,Factory tech sheets, pictures, etc. And have driven Macks almost exclusively for the past 35 years!..................................Mark

Autocar question

Brockway 361? where? how? when? Lol! One I've wanted to build forever, always thought it would be an easy conversion for the resin casters,as it uses the same cab as most of AMT's re-issues.............................Mark -

Funny you should mention that Sean! the Road Boss has no provisions for brake knobs,i am fashioning some from square stock (tractor) hex stock (trailer) and round,as I believe a truck of it's vintage would also be equipped with a tractor protection brake. As all have mentioned, very nice work on your dash! I am experimenting with some woodgraining techiques for some future projects, just lack the time to spend any serious time at my bench!......................Mark -

Indeed! I am something of a "moving van nut" Lol! My Dad was leased to NAVL's electronics division for nearly 40 years,i myself was leased to Atlas Van Lines Special Products Division for nearly 22 years! so moving and storage is something near and dear to me!..................................Mark -

Thanks Cappy! I went back and checked the whole thread out, some really nice work! I may PM Sean and get some pointers on how he closed in the cab bottom and filled the steps. I also intend to drop the headlights down slightly, they just don't look right compared to the 1:1. Need to come up with something to use for the rubber fenders along the wheelwells...................................Mark -
After I finish my Road Boss my next possible project will be a replica of my Fathers 1:1 1972 White-Freightliner,it will need to be converted to the older "stirrup-step" cab style, and I will also need another engine, as it was powered by a 1693 Cat. I know the AMT kit is not an easy one to build, but can be made into a decent replica with some time and effort, has anyone here backdated the cab? looking for ideas on how to proceed,......................Mark

Thanks Jim! I am still amazed at all that's become available for our hobby,i couldn't have dreamed of all these things just a few years back, just what I was looking for!................................Mark -
I have seen several set of engine detail decal sets available from different vendors, both generic (Wix,Fram,Fleetguard etc.) as well as Mack, Cummins, Detroit Diesel but no Caterpillar, how come? is it a licensing issue? I am still looking for a Mack detail sheet with the different model numbers I.E. B-61,Thermodyne,Diesel scripts etc.................................Mark

Thanks guys! Cappy,I did the gauge bezels using Testors Chrome Silver (drybrushed) and then did the back faces with Flat black craft paint, then I carefully scraped away the paint from the dials and needles with an X-Acto knife, next step was to add some Neon green (also craft paint) to the numerals,Neon red to the needles with a sharpened toothpick. Then a dab of clear epoxy to seal everything up. I invested in a good amount of craft paints in various colors, personally I like the stuff for certain things, its cheap, goes on nice, and very forgiving with any mishaps!...............................Mark -

Thanks guys! it's coming back to me slowly but surely! still quite a bit to do,i wasn't at all satisfied with the way the "fender extensions" looked,so I did some bodywork on the hood for a more one piece look. Cab and hood are almost ready for paint, then just final assembly............got a lot of catching up to do,thats for sure!..............Mark -
Hello all! new here, but thought I would post some pics of my current "get my feet wet" project after a 30 year hiatus from the hobby,i am looking forward to learning some new tips and techniques................Mark
